La présente invention concerne une machine perfection- née pour nettoyer les légumes, du genre utilisé par exemple pour peler les pommes de terre et les carottes et consiste en un tambour comportant un disque de base rotatif, la pelure ou la partie extérieure du légume étant enlevée par une action abrasive contre le disque de base et la paroi du tambour.
Le but de la présente invention est de fournir une machine perfectionnée du genre indiqué et également une ma- chine qui puisse être faite sous de petites dimensions con- venant pour les besoins ordinaires d'un ménage.
Suivant cette invention, la machine perfectionnée est caractérisée en ce que la surface abrasive comprend une matiè- re abrasive granulée fixée à la surface de base de la machine par une matière adhésive appropriée, de préférence thermo- plastique. Cette matière abrasive granulée consiste de préfé- rence en du carbure de. silicium ou,en un produit d'argile de bauxite.

présente invention est caractérisée en ce que le tambour pos- sède des dimensions et un poids permettant l'emploi dans un évier de cuisine, le tambour comportant un orifice de sortie en dessous duquel est situé de façon amovible un manier pour recevoir les raclures, un couvercle évitant les éclaboussements pour le tambour et des moyens d'introduire de l'eau d'un ro- bir.et pendant le fonctionnement de la machine.
La machine pour les usages ménagers peut en outre être caractérisée par le fait que le couvercle empêchant les écla- boussements du tambour est pourvu de paliers dans lesquels est monté un arbre de commande pour le disque de base rotatif, et une poignée de manoeuvre, avec des roues d'engrenage complé- mentaires sur l'arbre et sur la poignée, et d'un accouplement détachable pour relier l'extrémité de l'arbre de commande à l'arbre du disque de base rotatif. Elle est caractérisée en outre par le fait que le couvercle empêchant les éclabousse- ments est capable de fermer complètement le sommet du tambour et est pourvu d'un raccord pour un tuyau souple destiné à la liaison au robinet pour l'alimentation de l'eau pendant le fonctionnement de la machine.
Le dessin annexé est une coupe verticale d'un exemple d'une petite machine faite suivant la présente invention.
Dans l'exemple de l'invention représenté au dessin, on a construit une petite machine destinée se placer dans l'évier de la cuisine etqui comprend un tambour a en forme de tonneau pouvant contenir cinq livres de pommes de terre.

Au centre du fond a' du tambour on a fixé un logement de palier a3 portant un coussinet de palier a4 dans lequel est reçue l'extrémité inférieure de l'arbre f.
A l'arbre ± est fixé un moyeu à bride± auquel est fixé un disque de base au moyen de rivets, le disque présentant trois protubérances g'également espacées et des ouvertures 2 et étant pourvu d'un rebord périphérique en g3 pour la ri- gidité. Le moyeu est destiné à prendre appui sur le coussinet et à maintenir le disque à une petite distance au-dessus du fond pour laisser un espace pour les raclures. L'extrémité supérieure deul'arbre f est fendue en f2.
La machine est pourvue d'un couvercle h dans la mon- ture duquel est fixé un anneau de mise en position h' destiné à s'adapter dans l'extrémité supérieure du tambour. Au centre du couvercle se trouve fixé un logement de palier! avec coussinet i' et chapeau de recouvrementi2. Dans le coussi- net est logé un arbre 1 sur lequel est fixé une roue dentée i', un collier j2 servantmettre l'arbre en position axiale- ment dans le coussinet du palier. Sur l'extrémité inférieure de l'arbre se trouve un manchon k fixé par une chevillek', ce manchon s' étendant au-delà de l'extrémité de l'arbre de façon à s'adapter par-dessus l'extrémité supérieure de l'ar- bre f et portant une autre cheville k2 destinée à venir en prise dans la fente f2 de cet arbre.

La surface supérieure du disque et la paroi laté- rale intérieure du tambour a sont revêtues d'une doublure abrasive faite d.e carbure de silicium d'une dimension de 20 grains. Cette matière est appliquée de la manière suivante.
La surface métallique est chauffée approximativement à 2500 Fahrenheit et on applique une poudre sèche de -laque finement préparée, en suite de quoi cette poudre fond et for- me une masse plastique d'environ 1/16 de pouce d'épaisseur.
Tandis qu'elle est encore plastique , une couche de matière abrasive est répandue sur la masse et introduite dans ce'le- ci par laminage. Une seconde couche est de préférence appli- quée avec l'emploi d'un peu moins de chaleur pour empêcher la détérioration de la première couche, la matière abrasive étant cette fois mélangée à la poudre adhésive et parachevée par laminage comme précédemment.
Au lieu du carbure de silicium, on peut employer une autre préparation telle que celle vendue dans le co merce sous le nom déposé d'ALOXITE et ce revêtement peut être colo- ré pour des raisons' esthétiques.
Un autre adhésif serait celui vendu sous le nom de: "Kaffir E.N." qui est un ciment à l'eau s'appliquant sans chaleur.
Lors de l'emploi la machine peut être placée dans un évier de cuisine, le couvercle peut être enlevé et les légu- mes tels que les pommes de terre sont placée dans le tambour.

Lorsque l'opération est terminée, on peut enlever le couvercle et retirer les pommes de terre nettoyées pour l'emploi. Les engrenages, se trouvant sur la face inférieure du couvercle, sont facilement accessi- bles pour le nettoyage et le séchage. Les pièces exposées sont faites ou enduites d'une matière résistant à l'action corro- sive de l'eau et les coussinets de palier sont de n'importe quel type approprié connu à graissage automatique.
