<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
notamment).

Gas boiler
Existing gas boilers generally include one or more boilers heated by burners, these boilers being connected, on the one hand, to the water supply pipe, and, on the other hand, to the distribution circuit. - tion of hot water supplying, for example, radiators. ,
The boiler that is the subject of the invention essentially comprises vertical chambers joined together by their lower part to the water inlet and by their upper part to the hot water distribution pipe, these chambers being arranged so as to create between them enclosures in which the hot gases produced at the part

lower chambers for example by a burner.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the water circulation chambers are delimited by parallel vertical walls, preferably cylindrical and arranged so as to form a peripheral chamber and at least one interior chamber, said chambers being connected to each other by cavities established in partitions joining these chambers.
The interior chamber constitutes by its walls a central chimney opening into the enclosure where the burner is placed] this circular shape, this chimney which is connected to the flue gas discharge duct can be closed, vars its upper part. , by a butterfly, maneuverable by hand or automatically, so that the hot gases produced by the burner are forced, on the one hand, to enter through an opening in the enclosure between the annular chambers where the gas circulates. water, and on the other hand, to circulate in this enclosure from which they can exit through an opening opening into the central chimney above the butterfly.
Preferably, the walls constituting the tank, - arms in which the water circulates are subdivided in the direction of the height so as to constitute sections or elements stacked one above the other and joined together by joints of waterproofing allowing the continuous circulation of water, from one section to another. The lower section or element comprises the burner and the water inlet orifice, the upper section or element comprises the connection orifice of the chimney with the gas discharge duct and the hot water outlet.
By stacking a greater or lesser number of internal sections between the lower and upper sections, it is possible to increase or decrease the heating capacity of the boiler at will.

The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawings, given by way of non-limiting examples, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the drawings and from the text being, well covered, part of said invention.
Figure 1 is a vertical section of a boiler made in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a horizontal section taken along line II-II of figure 1.
FIG. 3 shows an exterior view of a boiler comprising several intermediate elements.
Figure 4 is a plan view.
Figure 5 shows this boiler in vertical section.
FIG. 6 is a schematic view showing a group of boilers connected in parallel.
The figure is a similar view and relates to the case where. the boilers are connected in series.

<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
This butterfly 19 is provided on the upper element 3 below an opening 22 connecting the central chimney and the enclosure 23 between them. chambers 7 and 8, an opening 24, provided in the partition 12, communicates the chamber 23 with the chamber 25 of the lower body which is itself in relation to the burner chamber through the opening 26. By this arrangement we see that, when the butterfly 19 is formed ,, the hot gases are forced to follow the path indicated by the arrows? that is to say to. circulate in enclosures 25-23.
During this journey. they suitably heat the walls of chambers 7 and 8 and it can be seen that, owing to the large heating surface, the water circulating in said chambers is rapidly brought to the suitable temperature.
When the burner 2 is off, the butterfly valve 19 is operated to put the central chimney of the boiler in communication with the duct 5 to ensure the total evacuation of the burnt gases and to control the chamber of the burner 2 in communication with the duct. 5 of, so that if inadvertently? the gas was admitted to the burner without being ignited, this gas being expelled to the outside. In the event that the butterfly valve is controlled by a thermostat device, this operation takes place automatically as soon as the temperature in the central chimney drops as a result of the burner not being supplied.
The connection orifice 27 can be seen at 27, feels at the outlet tube for the hot water and at 28 the orifice receiving the tube ensuring the return of the water after circulation in the radiators.
Advantageously, according to the present invention, there is provided on the upper element 3, dsux orifices 27 diametrically opposed; it is thus possible by a rotation of 90 (permitted by the arrangement of the bolts 18 at the vertices of a square) to orient the upper element; 3 so that

The chamber dans'laqaellē is housed the burner 2 has a large opening closed by a door 46 (figure 3) comprising openings 47 for admitting the combustion air ut a small window closed by a mica 48 allowing a visual check of Ignition of the burner, this ignition being produced by means of the usual pilot 49.
The operation of the boiler can be understood: easily, cold water or return water from the radiator circuit enters the boiler through port 29, through its passage through chambers 7 and 8, this water is
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
quickly brought to the desired temperature and by the tubing 28 this hot water is conducted to the radiators.
It should be noted however that the hottest part of the chalets in which the water circulates is the part of the. chamber 8 located below the butterfly 19, it is therefore in this zone that the water will undergo its most significant heating or the fastest, the result will be an accelerated circulation of the water in the direction. indicated by arrows f.
This circulation determines a second current indicated by the arrows fl. In fact, at the upper part of chamber 7, the water is in contact with surfaces which are less heated than the walls of chamber 8; the second circuit contributes to accelerating the circuit indicated by the arrows f so that, when it leaves the boiler, the hot water circulates at a relatively high speed, improving the efficiency of the heating installation. It can also be noted that the second circuit f1 is established against the current of the hot gas circuit oe which is favorable to the faster heating of the water.
By increasing the number of intermediate elements
6 it is possible to increase the heating capacity of the boiler produced as described above. However, it is advantageous not to exaggerate the height of the boiler. and it is better in the event that one. wants' to have a large flow of hot water to group several boilers comprising for example one or two elements 6.
Naturally, in this case the boilers will be connected in parallel as shown schematically in FIG. 6 where one sees at 34 35 and 36 the hot water pipes connected to the manifold 37 leading to the circuit of the radiators. The water in return is brought by the .collector 38 to which are connected the pipes 39-40 and 41 supplying each of the boilers.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
In the 'case on the contrary where it is worth having quickly a smaller quantity of hot water it is possible to connect in series the boilers' input elis air.si as shown schematically in Figures 7 and 8.
In this case, the cold water is brought to the first boiler through line 42, after having circulated in the chambers 7 and 8 of the latter, the water is discharged through the tube 13 leading it to the orifice. 28 of the second boiler from which went out through the orifice 27 and is brought through the pipe 44 to the orifice 28 of the following boiler. Finally, at the outlet of the last boiler, the hot water is distributed to the radiators by line 45.
@n understand that all desired combinations can be established in the connection of the boilers in particular it is possible to provide on the pipes connecting the boilers to each other valves or automatic shut-off valves allowing the shut-off circuit of one or more boilers in the installation by grouping several.
It goes without saying that the embodiments described were given only as examples and that they could be codified, noted by the substitution of technical equivalents, without going out for this. within the scope of the invention.
In particular, the invention is not limited to the heating of the boiler by a burner employing boiler co-heating by burner employing a fuel which naturally presents in gaseous form (lighting gas, lean gas, etc.). also extends to the case where the burner would operate with a liquid fuel (oil burner for example) or even solid (pulverized coal burner,
especially).
