Description

Brevet d'invention. Monsieur Alexander Oharles RIGBY.

Patent. Mr. Alexander Oharles RIGBY. Building blocks. Priority: Great Britain deposit, November 24, 1942.

The invention relates to such building blocks having two rectangular cavities passing therethrough and recesses and protrusions at the top and the base diaphragm such that the protrusions or recesses on the top of a block are provided. 'engage in the recesses or projections of the base of the block placed on its top.

In accordance with the present invention there is established a block having a continuous recess in one face and corresponding protrusions on the other face at the edges of the cavities, these protrusions having openings through them located at the center and at the quarter and three quarters. of their extent to allow variation in the longitudinal assembly and regular laying of the transverse blocks.

For the erection of buildings, blocks of vo-

full lume (eg 18 pcs x 9 pcs x 6 pcs) and half-wide blocks (eg 18 pcs X4 1/2 pcs x 6 pcs); a few half-long blocks (for example 9 pcs x 9 pcs x 6 pcs) are therefore preferably used to carry out the numerous assemblies which occur in practice without it being necessary to cut the blocks.

The length of the protrusions is preferably equal to the openings, and the ends of the protrusions are preferably angular in plan in solid-volume blocks and extend along the ends and along both sides in the case of half-wide blocks.

Whole blocks preferably have square cavities leaving a block thickness of two inches; the half-wide blocks are preferably provided with narrow rectangular cavities.

These blocks are particularly advantageous for the construction of full-width exterior walls of buildings and half-width interior walls and by the combination of the different blocks many combinations of joints and corners and many shapes of pillars can be used. built while ensuring a perfect assembly.

In some cases, the end faces of the blocks may be provided with tongues and grooves.

These blocks are suitable for the dry foundation especially of temporary works; they can also be used with a thin junction binder which can, relatively easily, be broken if one wishes to dismantle a wall and reuse the blocks.

   In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 shows in plan a building block with full volume in accordance with the invention.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

Fig. 2 is a corresponding longitudinal section taken on line 11-il of Fig.l.

Fig. 3 is a plan of a corresponding half-width block for assembly with the full-volume block.

Fig. - is a plan view illustrating the construction of the corner of a wall.

The solid blocks 1, Figs, 1 and 2, have cavities 2 and are provided at the top with projections 3 at the corners and intermediate projections 4 - leaving three gaps 5 on each side and a gap 6 at each end.

The base has a recess 9 with a lip extending all around the block, the depth of this recess being equal to the height of the projections 3, 4.

The half-wide block 7, Fig. 3 has two narrow cavities 8 and four protruding portions 10 on the top which leave three spaces 11 between them.

The base is provided with a recess all around, similar to recess 9 of the full volume block.
