<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Device improving the operation of machines with a closed circuit fan intended for the transport and cleaning of granular products".
The present invention relates to a device making it possible to improve the operating conditions of machines of the closed circuit machine type, in which an air current set in motion by a fan, is used for the treatment of powdery or granular products, in particular for their transport or their cleaning, which air is circulated in the machine, The products in question may be cereal grains
For example, machines are known in which the product, to be cleaned, introduced through an inlet opening, falls in a thin sheet through which the air current passes, and emerges through another opening, freed of its dust and impurities, by a device. suitable dust collector, while the air flow circulates in a closed circuit under the action of a fan.
These closed-circuit machines have certain advantages over similar machines but of the open-circuit type, where the air passing through the machine is expelled
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
through a dust collector device such as a large cyclone, and often evacuated outside.
These advantages can be summed up by a smaller size, a simpler installation, the elimination of conduits sometimes reigning over several stages, and the often expensive installation of a large-dimension cyclone.
We can add as a disadvantage, the fact that the air sucked through the machine, taken in the building, is often expelled outside, from which there results a particularly noticeable heat loss in winter, with if necessary the possibility of condensation due to this cooling '
However, closed-circuit machines, due to the fact that the dust removal of the air in the circuit is necessarily only partial, have the disadvantage that the air used, in the intervals between its replacement, takes care of a increasing amount of impurities, dust and various wastes, often waxes, some of which can crust into the machine and clog it.
When the deposits thus formed contain organic matter, fermentation may result, under the effect of the temperature or the humidity of the environment and due to the effect of condensation caused by the frequent evaporation of a part. the humidity brought by the product and by the presence of 9 germs, the same cause '
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. by adding to such closed-circuit machines, a device by which the air contained in the machine is renewed more or less slowly, and in a preferably continuous manner.
A feature of the invention consists in that at one point of the machine,
for example on the side of the fan outlet where. the air is in overpressure, we adapt a pipe
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
outlet through which a certain quantity of air can escape.
At another point of the machine, in depression, there is simultaneously an additional air intake intended to replace the exhausted air, provided that a hearing or an opening in the machine does not play this role.
A complementary feature of the invention consists in that the air evacuating pipe leads into a device comprising a dust collector system, for example a small high-efficiency cyclone, followed or not by a filter, where the air deposits its impurities before spreading into the atmosphere of the room.
Optionally, a valve incorporated in the pipe leading to the oyolone can be actuated by a diaphragm depressiometer, allowing the said cyclone to keep its full efficiency despite all the variations in speed due to changes in the setting.
The impurities collected by the small cyclone can be collected either in bags, or in a dust container with intermittent evacuation, or evacuated by a duct possibly joining the circuit of the dust collected in the main machine.
It will be noted that the addition of such a device to an existing closed-circuit machine will provide it with the advantages of open-circuit machines at a lower cost of the installation and, in less space.
On the other hand,
according to an optional feature for the present invention, the fact that the air is replaced only gradually allows it to be given, by passage through an ozonator for example, certain bactericidal and deodorisalt properties which will not only lead to a certain improvement in processed products, but sterilization of the process air and the machine itself.

Other particular features of the invention will become apparent during the description and examination of the above appended hereto, which are given by way of non-limiting example of certain embodiments according to the invention,
In these drawings:
FIG. 1 represents a schematic section of a closed-circuit apparatus complete with a device for renewing a partaol 41 air according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows the small air outlet cyolone also visible in Figure 1, and comprising an inclined plane for dust and an outlet valve.
FIG. 3 represents a variant of this cyclone with reception of the dust in a bag.
The device according to the invention can adapt to or form an integral part of a closed circuit machine as shown schematically in FIG. 1.
In this figure we see in main order a fan 2 causing the movement of air in a pipe 3.
This fan sucks. the upper part of room 6, where. the air is dusted. The pipe 3 ends in a hopper 10 provided at its lower part with a deflector 11 on which the granular material falls which is divided into a sheet in 14. The air coming from the pipe 3 passes through this layer carrying the dust, and enters in the chamber 6 where it is animated by a movement favorable to the deposition of heavy materials on the inclined walls 6a and 6b of the chamber 6 and fall into the lower part of the latter from where. they are evacuated by 13.
According to the invention, in 4, Figure 1 where the pressure is greater than the atmosphere, a bypass is provided on the pipe 3. The air leaving through this bypass precipitates in the cyclone 5 where it deposits its impurities and leaves through the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
upper part 5a provided with baffle gills.
At the lower part of this small cyclone as it is moreover shown in larger figure 3, a bag is placed to collect the dust-This small cyclone is placed on a tripod 21.
FIG. 2 shows another way of collecting this dust. The small cyclone is placed on a column 16 provided at a certain height with an inclined plane 17 where. The dust falls which are discharged intermittently through a valve opening 18 formed in the wall.
The other part of the device according to the invention consists of a return of fresh air into the main pipe 3 by a pipe 7. This return of air being made where. there is depression inside the circuit a little before the deflector 11 on which the granular product falls.
The fresh air intake pipe 7 can be fitted to an electric ozonator 18, the current supply of which is indicated at 9 and which is provided with a breather shown at 22 The fresh air, arriving through 19 and 20. passes through l 'inside the ozonator, where it is loaded with ozone, before entering by 7 in the general circulation and therefore has bactericidal and deodorant properties, thus improving the processed products. This air is itself sterilized, which allows it to act favorably for the sterilization of the machine itself *
