Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
REVENDICATIONS.

Assembly process by welding metal elements in several parts.
The manufacture of metallic elements in several pieces, such as they are used for example to form the anodes of electronic lamps, gives rise to difficulties, because the metallic element, which consists of a large number of individual parts, must be obtained by a welding or fusion process. When molybdenum sheets are used, the various sheets are first joined by means of angles by spot welding and then welded with nickel. If it is a question of metallic elements in sheet iron, this process is inapplicable, if not with great difficulties, because the difference between the melting points of iron and nickel is small and especially because with iron and nickel, no eutectic was formed as with molybdenum and nickel.
To overcome these drawbacks when it comes to manufacturing metal elements from sheet iron, the process according to the invention consists in using a molybdenum and nickel solder, having a eutectic composition and produced with the metals in the form of powder. Solder is used in the form of pills, which are manufactured by press under high pressure or with the aid of binders, for example collodion.
The new process makes it possible to obtain an irreproachable weld
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the whole of the metal element, because the weld in. nickel and molybdenum is applied in divided form in or on the metal element, the element packed with solder pills is pushed into an oven and the solder is melted there under a protective gas, so that by capillary effect it penetrates all joints of the metal element. The various sheets are thus welded to each other in a satisfactory manner.
The new process has the advantage of being very easy to apply and therefore of providing a great saving in time compared to the known process.
The attached drawing, given only as an example, shows an anode element welded by the new process, to manufacture this anode element care must be taken that the various sheets fit very exactly into each other. other, to achieve a perfect weld. The solder pills are simply placed in the various compartments of the anode element, to prevent the anode element from deforming in the event of possible softening of the iron, it is placed in the oven in a small cup. ceramic material in a shape corresponding to its own. The solder can be formed, for example, from 51% by weight of nickel and 49% of molybdenum. The solder melts at approximately 1.350 C.
