<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Thread or yarn made of concentric fibers of a different nature". -
The object of the present invention is a yarn of fibers, consisting of fibers of different nature concentrated. Different types of yarns are known consisting of fibers of different nature and more particularly we know that it is applied on a large scale to manufacture yarns in which the fibers are judiciously mixed by operations preceding spinning or simultaneous with carding. This generally results in a yarn having a texture of homogeneously mixed fibers. There is also another kind of yarn in which the base or core is formed by a finished product yarn reopened with other fibers.
It results
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
that although yarns of good appearance and sufficient strength are sometimes obtained, these yarns are often found to have insufficient adhesion and consistency, so that it is not possible to use them in the operations of spinning at reduced cost. Sufficient mechanical characteristics, neither a softness nor an appearance compatible with the requirements of the applications for which they are intended are obtained either.
The yarn or yarn according to the invention, on the contrary, solves the various problems which arise in this case and constitutes real technical progress in the field of spinning.
According to the invention, the thread or yarn consists of fibers of a different nature, arranged and superimposed concentrically on one another and then spun on an ordinary spinning machine. The fibers of different nature can be judiciously arranged in a well-defined progression, in order to produce yarns having particular mechanical characteristics and an external appearance taking into account the destination.
As an example one could, for example, make a yarn according to the invention, taking as the inner core of the rayon fiber around which the wool fiber would be concentrically wound. Under these conditions, it is therefore possible to produce a complex yarn which has the appearance of pure wool on the outside, while the inside is made of rayon. It is therefore possible in this way to combine the advantages specific to these two very different fibers.
It is also possible to make a combination formed by cotton fiber as an inner core and a rich, highly prized fiber, such as angora wool for example, which by itself exhibits poor spinnability. This fiber therefore needs a strong support, so that it rests on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
cotton core, a resistant yarn is produced which lasts well, @ - spun and has the external appearance of natural angora wool.
Obviously), according to the invention, any conceivable combination can be produced by combining the most diverse fibers, so that it becomes practically possible to produce threads or yarns with all kinds of fibers, under all technical conditions and of all appearances by making a combination, in accordance with the invention, of yarns of a different nature, superimposed, arranged or wound concentrically, the internal fibers generally being those which will determine the mechanical characteristics and the external fibers generally being those which will be chosen due to the desired exterior appearance.
SELLS! CATIONS.
1.- Thread or yarn, characterized in that it consists of fibers of a different nature, arranged concentrically along the longitudinal axis.
2 '.- Spun filou, according to revendioa.tion 1, -characterized by the fact that the fiber is arranged concentrically along the longitudinal axis, the fibers being superimposed and entangled on each other , so as to constitute an internal core of fibers of a different nature from those of the external part.
