Le combustible est amené, suivant ltinvention, dans la cuve de gazéification sous l'action de moyens mécaniques;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

, Gasifier for combustion and explosion engines, metallurgical furnaces or others.
The invention relates to a gasifier for supplying combustion and explosion engines, metallurgical or other furnaces:
In the gasifiers used until now in this field, the fuel is discharged from the top into the gasification tank, the bottom ash is formed during the descent of the fuel which has been produced under the effect of its consumption and they must be extracted from the tank at its lower part,
This method of formation of bottom ash and their evacuation under the layer of fuel complicates the management of fires and especially the destruction of bottom ash vaults and chimneys.
In order to eliminate this drawback, it is provided, according to the invention,
complete the consumption at the top of the combustible layer and promote the formation of bottom ash there to make it easy to evacuate from above the combustible layer '*
The fuel is brought, according to the invention, into the gasification tank under the action of mechanical means;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
such as screws, pushers or the like and it enters this tank under the incandescent mass.
The introduction of air into the fuel takes place, whatever the embodiment, along a plane or a surface passing above the point of arrival of the fuel in the tank, this air being able to elsewhere, before entering the fuel mass proper, having contributed to complete the combustion of the bottom ash according to the usual process of combustion on a grate.
With respect to the movement of the fuel, the direction of air circulation will vary with the embodiment considered.
This meaning, as well as other characteristics, will emerge from the following description,
The accompanying drawings, in which the cooling or protection devices for the tank have not been shown,
indicate by way of non-limiting example two embodiments of the invention * This extends to the various original features that include the arrangements shown *
Fig.1 is a schematic view of a gasifier intended for the production of gas in air or mixed gas.
FigZ is a schematic view of a gasifier designed for the production of gas to water.
According to a first embodiment of the invention, illustrated by fiS, 1, the gasifier comprises a gasification tank 2 into which the fuel is fed from below from a storage hopper 3 by means of a pusher 4 controlled by a motor 5.
The air necessary for gasification is supplied by
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the nozzle 6 in the free space of the chamber and it is introduced into the fuel mass along a surface passing above the point of arrival of said fuel *
The combustion zone is located in the upper layers of the fuel and the gas produced is evacuated through the orifices of the grate 7 into the pipe 8.
The water tank 9 serves as a receptacle for foreign particles in suspension in the gases and acts as a tight seal. The introduced air can optionally be charged with water vapor for the purpose of generating a mixed gas. the localization of the combustion zone towards the top of the combustible mass, the destruction of the bottom ash vaults is greatly facilitated. This destruction is carried out mechanically by the rise of the fuel in the tank under the pressure of the pusher 4.
FIG. 2 illustrates an embodiment of a gasifier intended for the generation of gas to water.
In addition to all the elements illustrated in FIG. 1, the gasifier has additional orifices 10 provided in the wall of the vessel at a suitable distance below the free surface of the fuel mass.
In the side wall of the tank an evacuation orifice 12 directs the combustion gases towards the atmosphere or towards a recuperator.
The generation of gas to water takes place in two phases which alternate periodically.
During the first, the air is blown into the fuel mass through the orifices 10 and the fumes which result from the combustion are evacuated to the atmosphere or to a recuperator through the orifice 12.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Live combustion quickly brings to very high temperature all the combustible mass between its free surface and the openings of the blown air. When this temperature is considered sufficient, the openings of the openings are closed by appropriate means (not shown). '' air inlet and gas outlet *
At the start of the 2nd phase, which is that of the generation proper, the water intended to produce the gas to the water is admitted through the nozzle 6a of fig. 2 above the free surface of the mass. fuel, either in the vapor state or in the pulverized liquid state This water hangs in the mass of fuel passing through its free surface,
y gives rise to the gas to the water which escapes through the orifices of the grid 7a near the point of entry of the fuel into the tank, the exit of the gas being made possible by an open valve (not shown) from the start of the 6th phase on the gas to water outlet pipe,
During this 6th phase, the mass of the fuel gradually cools. When this cooling is considered sufficient, the water inlet valve to the gasifier and the gas outlet valve to the water are closed, while the air inlet valve and the outlet valve are opened again. fumes to restart the first phase, and so on.
It goes without saying that this gasifier has. the water can be supplemented by means of recovery of the heat contained in the gas, water and in the fumes, this recovery being able to have the object of reheating the blowing air or of producing and overheating the Tapper
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Inject or enaore to achieve these two effects simultaneously.
If it is proposed to produce a gas very rich in carbon monoxide and if a gas rich in carbonic acid is available, it suffices to use the latter as a replacement for the water used in the mode of embodiment described above in explanation of fig.2.
If it is proposed to produce a gasifier with suction by using a carbon rich in volatile matter, the operation is as described in the first phase of generating the gas with water '
The volatiles which are released between the point of arrival of the fuel in the tank and the plane containing the various air inlet openings are forced, in order to escape, to pass through the incandescent layer of the fuel, which causes destruction of tars, CLAIMS.
