"Procédé pour produire du polysulfure de sodium spécialement adapté comme anticryptogame et insecticide".
La présente invention se réfère à un procedé pour obtenir des polysulfures de sodium, dans des conditions économiques et dans de telles conditions que 1on puisse obtenir des polysulfu¯ particulièrement adaptés comme produit anticryptogame et insecti- cide.
On connaît différents procédés pour obtenir des polysulfures de sodium. Toutefois, les procédés connus ne permet- tent pas de produire des polysulfures dont les caractéristiques sont satisfaisantes pour réaliser un parfait anticryptogame. D'au- tre part, les produits ainsi obtenus sont de formule inconstante et, d'autre part, le prix de fabrication est relativement élevé.
Il faut constater en outre que pour réaliser les réactions des

différents ingrédients, il est nécessaire de chauffer la masse, ce qui entraîne une dépense considérable de combustibles.
Le procédé selon l'invention élimine tous les in- convénients des procédés connus, tout en permettant la fabrica- tion des polysulfures de formule suffisamment constante et pre- sentant des caractéristiques anticryptogames et insecticides effi- et, caces enfin, ne nécessitant pas l'usage de combustibles pour effectuer les réactions chimiques.
Selon l'invention, on réalise la fabrication en in- troduisant dans un récipient en matière adaptée au but et exempte de fer, une certaine quantité de soufre, préférablement à l'état de poudre impalpable ; on y ajoute une petite quantité d'eau, de manière à obtenir un produit pâteux. A cette masse on additionne de la soude caustique solide (hydrate de soude), laquelle, en pré- sence de la pâte, produit une réaction exothermique. Par ce moyen, la masse de soufre et d'eau vient en combinaison avec la soude caustique formant ainsi une masse liquide à laquelle on ajoute en- core éventuellement de l'eau en quantité désirée.
Les proportions peuvent varier suivant les polysul- fures que l'on désire obtenir, en vue de son emploi ; parexemple, pour 100 parties de polysulfure, on pourra mettre en oeuvre de 20 à 30 parties de soufre, de 15 à 20 parties de soude caustique, le reste étant de l'eau.
Les produits ainsi obtenus ne présentent pas tou- jours un pouvoir adhésif suffisant. Le procédé de l'invention se rappor te également à l'ajoute au polysulfure d'un adhésif. Par exemple, on peut ajouter à la pâte de soufre et d'eau, de la poix ou bien des résines qui confèrent au polysulfure des propriétés excessivement adhésives.

The present invention relates to a process for obtaining sodium polysulfides, under economic conditions and under such conditions that one can obtain polysulfū particularly suitable as an anticryptogam and insecticide product.
Various processes are known for obtaining sodium polysulfides. However, the known methods do not make it possible to produce polysulfides whose characteristics are satisfactory for producing a perfect anticryptogam. On the other hand, the products thus obtained are of inconstant formula and, on the other hand, the manufacturing price is relatively high.
It should also be noted that in order to achieve the reactions of

different ingredients, it is necessary to heat the mass, which leads to a considerable expenditure of fuels.
The process according to the invention eliminates all the drawbacks of the known processes, while allowing the manufacture of polysulfides of sufficiently constant formula and exhibiting effective anti-cryptogam and insecticidal characteristics and, finally, not requiring use of fuels to carry out chemical reactions.
According to the invention, the production is carried out by introducing into a container made of material suitable for the purpose and free of iron, a certain quantity of sulfur, preferably in the form of an impalpable powder; a small amount of water is added to it, so as to obtain a pasty product. To this mass is added solid caustic soda (sodium hydrate) which, in the presence of the paste, produces an exothermic reaction. By this means, the mass of sulfur and water comes in combination with the caustic soda, thus forming a liquid mass to which water is optionally added in the desired quantity.
The proportions can vary according to the polysulphurises which it is desired to obtain, with a view to its use; for example, for 100 parts of polysulphide, it is possible to use from 20 to 30 parts of sulfur, from 15 to 20 parts of caustic soda, the remainder being water.
The products thus obtained do not always have sufficient adhesive power. The method of the invention also relates to adding an adhesive to the polysulfide. For example, sulfur and water, pitch or resins can be added to the paste which give the polysulfide excessively adhesive properties.
