<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

DEVICE AND SYSTEM OF SHEETS FOR ACCOUNTING IN SEVERAL COPIES OBTAINED FROM CARBON PAPER.
We already know of devices for the accounting in several copies obtained with carbon paper, used for the registration of the various names of the accounts.
These devices are based on the principle that the newspaper sheet is inserted, in a known manner into a clamp mounted on the side of the device, to then be covered by the account sheet, the rows and columns of which must then come into coincidence with the corresponding divisions of the journal sheet.
The present invention relates to a device for the exact fixing of the journal sheet and the tally sheet, as well as to a special system of tally sheets and insert sheets, separating, in
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the block of sheets, the groups of sheets of accounts from one another, in order to facilitate, in general, the keeping of the accounts and the handling of the various sheets of the block.
The accounting device in several copies according to the present invention comprises a cursor mounted on a lateral rule and carrying two studs on which the account sheet is held, the modification of the position of the cursor making it possible to bring the account sheet to the top. desired position in relation to the journal sheet to then enter the desired label.
The ruler has notches on its surface corresponding to the number of horizontal lines of the ruler of the journal sheet and the sheet of accounts, while the cursor has a section in the shape of an inverted U and is provided, at its upper part, of nipples so that, by moving the cursor along the ruler, it can be stopped in the positions for which the nipples of the cursor fall into the notches of the ruler.
The notches of the rule and the pins of the cursor are suitably arranged so that the rule of the tally sheet comes to coincide exactly, at each position given to the cursor after movement of the latter, with the rule of the sheet. -day, when one of said slider pins engages in the corresponding notch of the rule.
In the device according to the invention, there is also provided an improved system of accounts sheet, the new parts of which significantly facilitate the entry of positions as well as the handling of the various account sheets of the block.
Apart from the accounts sheets, we have
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
there are also insert sheets serving to suitably subdivide the various groups of account sheets in the block and each of which at the same time constitutes a characteristic sheet for the corresponding group.
The important point for the account sheets according to the present invention lies in the fact that they have, at their four corners, holes; for example circular in shape, symmetrically arranged and suitably fitting two by two, located respectively on each side of the tally sheet, to the two pins facing upward on the slider, also circular in shape, so that the rules of the account sheet come to coincide exactly with those of the journal sheet.
After turning over the sheet to count the two holes located on the other side of the sheet come analogously on the studs of the slider, thus allowing the inscription of positions on the back of the sheet
These side holes of the tally sheets must be suitably made to obtain an exact coincidence of the rule of the tally sheets with that of the journal sheet. This result is obtained, according to the invention, by drilling the four holes in the corners of the sheet of accounts at the same time as the ruler is printed, using, for this purpose, punches with very sharp edges and slightly more higher than the printed characters, these higher punches then cutting the side holes provided at the four corners of the sheet.
These side holes can be made with any contour, for example in the form of circles, quadrilaterals, squares, etc.
To facilitate the use of the sheets of accounts and dividers in the block:, they are provided, on the upper edges, with vertical slots of short length,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
arranged at well-defined distances from each other and in suitable rows and serving to fix the tabs on the sheets by introducing into said slots provided according to the invention corresponding side tabs of these tabs.
The short vertical slits made in the account sheets and in the dividing sheets make it possible to reduce the dimensions of the similar horizontal perforations, already known, pierced in the account sheets and having the drawback that these horizontal perforations intended for the tabs constitute a kind line of weakness along which the sheet is broken after a certain time of use.
For this purpose, according to the invention, a miter width equal to twice the thickness of the section of the block is adopted, the flag of the miter being suitably mounted on one side thereof. so that after folding down the tab of 180 the flag comes to mark another section of the block than before. It is thus possible to use the same tab of the block, inserted in the vertical slots, at the same time for two different sections of the block, thus making it possible to reduce by half the number of slots to be provided for the tabs in the sheet of paper. account.
The tab according to the present invention can also be provided with a vertical, horizontal or oblique flag, and have a sufficient length to allow it to be worn, instead of a sign of short length, such as for example a letter or number, longer inscriptions, such as the name of a specific subdivision or account.
In the case of a different embodiment of the tab, in transparent material, for example in cellulose, it will be given a length equal to twice
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
its useful height and it will be folded into two halves along a horizontal line, so as to constitute a transparent pocket in which one can insert larger inscriptions, serving for example to characterize the subdivisions of the block.
All the above objects, corresponding to the invention, such as the cursor device for registering posts in several copies, the system of account sheets with the journal sheets provided, at their corners, with holes sides for the passage of the pins of the device or of the slider, as well as the insert sheets, are intended to facilitate the entry of positions on the account sheets, as well as, of course, the handling of said sheets in the block of leaves.
The important point. of the invention as a whole consists in the system of account sheets. According to the present invention, said sheets comprise, in certain vertical columns, solid lines, and, in other columns, dotted lines, thus making the columns easily recognizable when the positions are entered. .
If the registration takes place for example only on the solid lines, this completely avoids any possibility of registration in an inappropriate place.
The intermediate sheets comprise, on the other hand, in a manner analogous to the account sheets according to the present invention, on the edge of the directory, four free boxes on which tabs are applied or shaped cutouts are made. by V.
If an interlayer sheet were to be placed in the block incorrectly, it would be possible to find it very easily, the tab or the V-shaped cutout not occupying, in this
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
case, its correct place in the row of tabs.
Heretofore, such control has been made possible by making certain groups of paper sheets of suitable colors so that a sheet inserted by mistake in another group thus signals itself.
In practice, however, this means was often ineffective, the edge of a leaf being far too inconspicuous for its different color to attract attention.
The introduction of the four free boxes for the identification of account sheets and dividers consequently makes the subdivision of the sheets into groups particularly apparent and notably improves, in general, the technique of keeping the books.
According to the invention, the interval sheets comprise, below the directory (which contains, like that of the account sheets, the letters of the alphabet, four free boxes and a series of figures), three corresponding columns. each to one-third of the numbers in the directory, these columns spanning about one-half of the insert sheet at the top thereof.
Similar to the account sheets, the insert sheets are provided, below the directory, on the edge, with a series of vertical slots for inserting the reference marks.
To further improve the keeping of the accounts, it is provided, according to the present invention, an improved distribution of the columns of amounts on the s-journal.
Instead of the three usual amount columns up to now, the sheet has four columns
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of double amounts (must, have), thus making the record more precise and clearer and allowing the establishment of the daily gross bins.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows the device in plan,
FIG. 2 is a schematic section of the rule with its studs, on a larger scale and FIG. 3 is a cross section of the device.
On the support q are fixed the pins A and B on which we apply the newspaper sheet G. At a determined distance from these pins, we have fixed, in any suitable way, the rule F provided with notches hollow W and carrying a cursor -E provided with studs C and D on which the count sheet H.
The notches W of the ruler are provided at suitable places with respect to the goujohs A and B so that when the cursor moves with the tally sheet, the rulings of this sheet coincide with those of the journal sheet.
By moving the cursor E, the studs which it carries are inserted into the notches W of the rule F, thus creating a resistance sensitive to the advancement of the cursor.
In fig. 4 are shown four different kinds of account sheets, a, b, c and d. At the four corners of these sheets are provided circular holes 0. ' serving to apply these sheets on the two pins C and D of the cursor E, this constituting an important point of the device for the accounting 'in several copies.
The upper edge of the account sheet has a directory made up of the numbers R and the letters Z. Between the subdivisions of the directory
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
There are vertical slots K - K '(see also fig. 9) used for fixing the tabs described above.
According to fig. 4, the various sheets of accounts each present a particular embodiment of the rule, however each time coinciding with the rule of the journal sheet (fig. 6), sheet d being intended for entries in the first double column of amounts (must , have) delimited between two thick lines, the following sheet ± to the inscriptions in the second column, sheet b for the inscriptions in the third, and sheet a for the inscriptions in the last column.
In Figure 6 there is shown with median cutout, a newspaper sheet provided with two series of two holes B'-B 'arranged respectively on the right edge and the left edge and used for the application of the newspaper sheet on the two pins A and B fixed to the support q of the device (fig. 1).
The sheet of accounts shown in fig. 4, with columns delimited by thick lines and having a horizontal ruler in solid lines are used, as already said, exclusively for the inscription in several copies, while the other columns with dotted horizontal ruler, are used for the inscription of amounts and balances, but outside the limits of the copying sheet.
It should be noted in particular that only the columns provided with horizontal lines in full lines are intended for the entry in several copies of the amounts and the description, the type of account sheet in question being provided, in the delimited column. by thick lines, of a horizontal rule identical to that in solid lines, visible on the sheet-newspaper.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
It is not necessary that the columns not circled include a rule identical to that of the similar columns of the journal sheet, whereby, in the case of entry of amounts in these headings, an incorrect entry. would immediately become visible in the system in several copies, the amounts not coming to be placed, in these columns, at the appropriate places of the journal sheet.
In Figure 5 we see with two partial median tears, an interlayer sheet used to separate between them various groups of sheet accounts of the block.
This interlayer sheet is provided on its upper edge, like the accounts sheets, with an alphabetical directory Z and a series of numbers R, as well as four empty boxes F at the right end of the directory R. In furthermore, the insert sheets are also provided, like the account sheets, with vertical slots K intended for the insertion of tabs.
The novelty of these insert sheets lies in their subdivision into three columns I, II and III, each of these columns corresponding to one third of the row of figures in the upper directory. Column I therefore corresponds to numbers 1 to 10, column II to numbers 11 to 20, and column III to numbers 21 to 30.
Only the upper half of the surface of the interlayer sheet is filled with a ruler.
In fig. 6, the journal sheet is filled with four double columns of amounts (must, have) whose rule corresponds to that of the sheet of accounts according to fig. 4. These sheets are provided, as indicated above, with side holes B 'for their attachment to the studs A and B of the device.
The realization of these holes B 'takes place in the same way as that of the side holes drilled in
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
account sheets; alone, the outline of these holes can, if necessary, be different, corresponding to the section of the studs A and B fixed to the support q.
In freeze 7 there is shown a tab described above and used for the sheet of accounts contained in the block, and in Figure 8 is shown another embodiment of the tab in question.
Fig. 9 shows how these tabs are attached to the sheets.
By means of tabs t and u, said tabs are inserted into the vertical slots K and K 'of the sheet of accounts ,, The flag S of the tab has a width half that of the tab and is arranged on one side of it so as to mark one of the sections @ ..6 to 17 .. of the block directory.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 8, the tab is made of transparent material, for example of celluloid.
The letters L and M denote the two parts of the flag, folded over one another by folding the tab along the horizontal line hh to form a transparent pocket in which a suitable inscription can be inserted, serving to more precise marking.
The fixing of part 1 of the mark after folding of the latter takes place by inserting the tongues t and u into the corresponding openings n and m of the part in question.
