  "Plasticizers for rubber compounds".

It is known to facilitate the work of mixtures of synthetic oats by means of the addition of so-called plasticizers. The materials generally used for this purpose, however, have the disadvantage of requiring to be added to the mixtures in relatively high proportions of up to 20 parts and more per 100 parts of rubber. Plasticizer additions of this order, however, have an adverse effect on the mechanical properties of the mixture, in particular its tear resistance, its strength.

its resistance to wear, hardness and toughness.

However, it has been proposed according to Belgian patent N 445 038 filed on April 1, 1942 to use as plasticizers for rubber mixtures primary, secondary or tertiary monoamines, or primary diamines with long aliphatic chains of atoms. of carbon, or their salts, because these matters, even in small proportion, determine a remarkable plasticizing action,
Subsequently, it has been found that substituted aromatic hydrated amides, substitution products of fatty acids having seven or more carbon atoms, influence in an extremely favorable direction, even in a small proportion, the workability of synthetic rubber mixtures.

Even by adding about 5 parts of these materials based on 100 parts of synthetic ooutohouo a material is obtained which it is possible, possibly after addition of other plasticizers, to work in a very smooth with the calender or the chopper.

As an example of a plasticizer according to the invention, mention will be made of oyolohexylamide of fatty acids with 7 to 9 carbon atoms. The invention is not however limited to these examples.

The materials mentioned can be used not only for synthetic rubber mixtures, but also for natural rubber mixtures.
