 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig.1 est une vue générale, partiellement en section de l'appareil inclus dans un circuit parcouru par un courant;
Fig. 2 montre un détail de l'appareil pendant son fonctionnement;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 levier 9.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   Electro-mechanical device for remote signals via the power distribution network.
 EMI1.1
 electric rant, automatic eeccatiou of any sicapable of donïiep the alarm in oao of inourcions aircraft.

   The object of the present invention is an apparatus with the aim of giving remote signaling, without the aid of special transmission lines and using only the local electric current distribution network, the apparatus according to the invention not come into play only on execution in the control unit of appropriate, easy and fast control maneuvers.

   The device can therefore have with advantage various applications in the field of remote signaling in the zone served by the same central or electrical substation, during addition being particularly useful for giving the home alarm in case

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 air incursions.

   It is obvious that the alarm given by sirens in open places, such as streets, squares, etc., cannot be heard by all the inhabitants of the locality, especially if the incursion takes place at night, when most of the population is sleeping. Since the apparatus according to the invention can be installed wherever there is electric lighting, it will be within the reach of everyone's hearing. It should be noted, moreover, that sirens and alarms Similar, placed in open places are also heard by the invader, who will therefore notice that he has been discovered and can put himself on his guard against a possible defensive reaction.

   On the other hand, since the apparatus according to the invention will be installed in general in closed places, it will operate completely without the knowledge of the invader who in most cases, not suspecting of having been discovered, will will recklessly risk where the defenders, seizing the most favorable moment, will be able to accomplish their mission very effectively.

   The present invention is described here by way of example of one mode of application and illustrated schematically by the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig.1 is a general view, partially in section of the apparatus included in a circuit traversed by a current;
Fig. 2 shows a detail of the apparatus during its operation;
Fig.3 shows the same detail in the position taken when the coil of the apparatus is not energized.

   Referring therefore to the attached drawing, a solenoid 1 with a vertical axis is provided with a core 2 which can slide into the interior of said solenoid and which extends into

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 bottom by a bar 3, a portion of which carries teeth such as a rack. Immediately above and below the rack 4, the bar 3 has the re-entrant parts 5 and 6, so that the rack
4 protrudes between said parts 5 and 6.

   The bar 3 carries at its lower end a piston 7 forming part of a pneumatic shock absorber 8.

   At a suitable height with respect to the rack 4 and very close to the bar 3, is placed a lever 9 which in the rest state is maintained in an approximately horizontal position by a return spring 10 The longer arm of the lever 9, placed next to the bar 3 and extending beyond the latter with respect to the pivot 11, has a pawl 12 which can rotate around the pivot 13, fixed to the lever 9. , this pawl being held in its rest position by a spring 14, also mounted on the lever 9.

   The latter comprises at the other end a pad 15 of conductive material, placed vis-à-vis another pad
16 of the same shape, with which it can establish contact when this end of the lever 9 is lowered.

   The pad 16 is electrically connected to one of the terminals of the bell, or other acoustic or optical alarm 17, the other terminal of which is directly connected to a terminal 18 which constitutes one of the two main terminals. 18, 18 'from the device. To this terminal is also directly connected one of the ends of the winding of solenoid 1.

   Two conductors are connected to terminal 18 ', one of which is connected to one end of a resistor 19 capable of heating itself by virtue of the passage of current, while the other conductor is connected to a thermal strip 20. The other end of resistor 19 is connected, by suitable conductors, to pad 15 carried by the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 lever 9. The strip 20 is provided with a conductive pad 21 making contact, in its rest position, with another pad 22 connected to the other end of the winding of the solenoid 1.

   The operation of the device is as follows.

   The device connected with its terminals 18, 18 'to a lighting network', is constantly carrying a current (Fig. 1). Solenoid 1 is therefore always excited, and core 2 is kept attracted. In this position the rack 4 of the bar 3 is at a height greater than that of the lever 9, and the point of the pawl 12 is turned towards the re-entrant part 6 of the bar 3. If in this condition the current in the bar is cut off. central, the core 2 descends with a speed which can be established beforehand by suitably providing the retarding action of the shock absorber 8.

  If the duration of the interruption is sufficiently prolonged, the rack 4 slides all over the point of the pawl 12, the latter moving from its normal position during the passage of the rack, and the bar 3 finally stops when the point of the pawl pawl 12 is located in correspondence with re-entrant part 5 of bar 3: this condition, shown in FIG. 3, does not give rise to any signaling. If now the current will be sent again by the central unit into the - network, core 2 will be attracted, rack 4 will slide again on pawl 12, the latter moving in the opposite direction to the previous one, and everything returns to the state shown in Fig.l.

   But if the control unit sends the current while the rack 4 slides on the point of the pawl 12 (Fig. 2), then the abrupt reversal of the direction of the movement of the rack 4 will cause, thanks to the action of the pawl 12, a reaction on lever 9, therefore

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 from which the latter will rise on the side of said pawl 12, while the other end will lower until the stud 15 comes into contact with the stud 16, thus closing the alarm horn circuit, which therefore will take office. At the same time the resistor 19 will heat up so that the thermal strip 20 will bend outwards, and when its curvature has reached a certain value, the contact 21-22 will open; the solenoid 1 no longer being excited, the core 2 will fall, thus disengaging the pawl 12 of the lever 9 of the rack 4.

   Consequently the current will also be interrupted in the circuit of the horn 17 and the signaling will cease. When the blade 20 has cooled, the contact between the pads 21 and 22 will be reestablished, the solenoid circuit will close again, the core 2 will be attracted, and the apparatus will return to the state shown in Fig.l, ready for new signage.

   It is understood that the kind, the arrangement and the shape of the parts of the apparatus can be varied within very wide limits without departing from the scope of the invention, provided that the essential characteristics remain unchanged, as they result from the present description and the appended claims. In particular, it should be noted that the solenoid can be replaced by an electromagnet and the core of the solenoid by an armature integral with the rack, the latter being able in its turn not to be straight but to take the form of a toothed sector; that the shock absorber need not necessarily be of the pneumatic type but of any suitable type, or else be replaced by a mechanical device, or even by an electric brake with parasitic currents, etc .;
