" Porte-fardeau ".
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"Burden bearer".
The invention relates to a load carrier, more particularly used for the transport of provisions and household objects in general.
The transport of provisions is often a very painful burden for the housewife, especially when she is forced to go to the market or to make purchases in stores far from each other, thus having to accomplish long journeys with much too heavy loads. for her.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention is to provide the means of transporting goods of relatively high weight and volume, without having to spend real efforts for this. To this end, the burden carrier according to the invention combines the shopping bag with a support forming a cane, provided at its end with a roller.
It should be noted that the shopping bag, reinforced by rods, will be fixed in such a way to the rod forming a support, that its center of gravity is located below the rod, making it possible to maintain the latter without any effort, in a perfect balance.
During walking, the natural posture of the cane differs quite little from the vertical direction and, therefore, depending on the decomposition of the forces, the weight of the objects contained in the bag will act mostly perpendicular to the ground and the reacting force on the hand guiding the cane is only very small compared to the total weight of the burden.
The sackcloth is mounted on reinforcing rods and can be easily detached from them for washing or replacement. The caster is mounted on a threaded pivot with a wing nut, the latter being guaranteed against loosening by a stop or rivet, nevertheless allowing it to be tightened further, in order to wedge the caster.
'the clamping device of the caster according to the invention allows the rod to be released by pressing it against any support, without risking that it is dragged by the weight of its load, the caster being wedged and the rubber with which this wheel will preferably be provided, preventing any slipping on the ground.
The following description of a burden carrier according to the invention is in no way limiting, but serves only as an example, in order to clarify the scope of the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the burden carrier according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a section showing the attachment of the bag to the rod.
A gusset bag 1 is stretched over two rods 2 and against which the canvas is clamped by means of light bars 4 and 5, wedging the canvas by means of bushings 6 with round head, threaded inside, and screws 7, countersunk head, penetrating the thread of the bushes 6.
In this way, the canvas is firmly wedged between the rods 2 and 3, on the one hand, and the bars 4 and 5, on the other hand. The rods 2 and 3 are secured to the rod 8 by means of clamps 9 and 10. These also make it possible to fix the bag 1 at any height of the rod 8, for example at the position indicated by phantom lines (figure 1).
The lower end of the cane 8 is provided with a caster 11, which is fixed to the rod by means of two flats 12 and 13. The caster is movable on a threaded pivot 14 with a butterfly valve 15.
The threaded end of the pivot 14 is slightly riveted in order to prevent loosening of the wing nut 15. The flats 12 and 13, while being strong, have sufficient elasticity, to allow the frictional setting of the valve. caster 11, when the wing nut is fully tightened.
The closure of the bag 1 is effected by a folding 16 attached by means of a buttonhole 17, on one or the other of the buttons 18, located on the gusseted wall of the bag and allowing the closure of the latter. here, for loads of different volumes (figure 2).
