Description de l'appareil Il COMBUSTOIL "
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Après trente seconces de marche du moteur,le température du gazéi- ficateur est suffisante pour transformer la nature du combustible destiné à remplacer l'essence.A ce moment,en agissant sur la comman- de supplémentaire (15),on ouvre le circuit du combustible liquide autre que l'essence qui fournira immédiatement au moteur les gaz, nécessaires pour assurer son fonctionnement dans aes conditions qui sont identiques à celles de l'essence.A ce moment,un phénomène très spécial se produit ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The search for the use of liquid combutibl.l 'being only 1 gasoline, allowed the design of a simple device, easy to handle, and achieving with a maximum of efficiency and zero maintenance the solution of the sought problem. .
The realization of the whole of this apparatus can be in any form whatever, appropriate according to the type of engine to be equipped, and the description of which gives one of the forms adopted, after experiments, making it possible to achieve an efficiency. equal to, the one we get with essnce.
Description of the device Il COMBUSTOIL "
By way of example, which is not limiting as to the shapes and dimensions, an embodiment of the Combustoil "is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The Combusteil "assembly" consists of four distinct parts: a) a gasoline carburetor, b) a liquid fuel carburetor other than gasoline, c) a gasifier, d) a distributor-mixer. gasoline carburetor (4) is the original one. It does not undergo any change and is connected to the piping (16) allowing
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
thus for the engine to operate under the same conditions as before.
The carburettor fuel other than gasoline (3) of any type and shape, but necessarily appropriate according to its design and the performance required of it, allows easy and precise adjustment of the flow rate and perfect carburetion. of the fuel used.
The gasifier (I) or concentration chamber of the heating element, is in the form of an all-metal boot comprising various openings (2,5,6,9,) having inside a piping circuit. (10) which are heated by the exhaust gases from the engine, connecting the openings (2) and (6) to each other.
The distributor-mixer, which represents the characteristic point of the invention, consists of a fixed part (II) and a mobile part (12). It makes it possible, on the one hand, to establish communication between the piping (10) and the liquid fuel carburetor other than the exhaust (3), on the other hand the connection between the piping (16) coming from the fuel carburetor (4) and the piping (7) leading to the openings (2) which it also connects to each other.
The fitting of an engine requires only a simple and unique additional control (15) placed within the reach of the driver and acting essentially on the moving part (12), which is drilled diametrically with an opening which , depending on its position, supplies the engine instantaneously and at will, either with gasoline or any other liquid fuel chosen. In addition, the adjustment or degree of opening of this moving part (12), allows to obtain the choice of driver and in various proportions a mixture of gasoline with any other fuel used.
Due to the quite special mode of adaptation to an engine and the arrangement of its circuits, the "COMBUSTOIL" does not cause any reaction on the circulating gases, ie there is no chamber. expansion valve capable of modifying the organic state of the gas molecules. It supplies the engine with a completely dry power supply, which gives on other comparable systems and especially those with injections, a completely different result.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The great advantages that it provides as a result are: impossible condensation, no dilution and no fouling.
The fuel at the combustoil outlet is completely modified and seized. present as a completely dry gas, which makes it non-condensable. It follows that in the event that the adhesion of the segments in the cylinders of a drum is defective as a result of wear or ovalization, even exaggerated, the gases which could pass again and be expelled by the effect of the compression in the crankcase, never could mix with the lubricating oil and make it less fluid. These gases would be evacuated as and when as they enter the crankcase via the sniffer system available on all engines. The fouling is identical to.
that which one obtains in the engines exclusively powered by gasoline and having a perfect carburetion.
The use of a COMBUSTOIL appliance requires an additional low capacity tank which will contain the fuel necessary for starting when the engine is cold. The old existing tank will contain the new fuel chosen.
In the accompanying drawings, FIG. I represents a front view of the apparatus of which (I) is the gasifier, (3) the carburetor with liquid fuel other than gasoline, (4) the carburetor. petrol, (9) the exhaust gas outlet of the motuer (II) the distributor-mixer, (14) the original single throttle control, acting on both carburettors at the same time, (15) the control device for the mobile part (12) of the distributor-mixer.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the COMBUSTOIL adapted to an engine (13) shown schematically.
THE fig. 3 and 4 give us two sections following CD and RS In this one appears in detail the distributor-mixer with its mobile part (12) which in the position where it is represented, ensures the total supply of the engine with liquid fuel other than gasoline and delivered by the carburetor (3).
Fig. 5.6.7. are cross-sections according to MN, VU and PQ The openings (5) correspond with the different exhaust outlets of the gases coming from the engine cylinders. They become for the COMBUSTOIL the inlets of the heating element in the gasifier (I )
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
where the beams to be heated are located, Through the openings (2) in communication with the engine suction ports, the gases exit either from petrol or from any other liquid fuel used, depending on the position of the mobile part of the distributor-mixer.
The arrows shown in the drawings indicate the path and direction of circulation of the various fluids in the pipes.
They are, for the petrol gases supplied by the carburettor (4) in solid linesÇ - +), For the gases of any other liquid fuel supplied by the carburetor (3) in dotted lines (#), and for engine exhaust gas, indicated by arrows followed by flames (#).
The present invention is therefore not limited to the details of construction shown in the drawings, these details being able to vary considerably while remaining within the idea of making this invention.
How the UOYBUSTOIL works.
When starting, ie when the engine is cold, the control device (15) must be in the required position allowing fuel to be supplied. The engine will then start in the same conditions as before adapting the appliance.In this position, with the fuel circuit open, the carburettor (4) supplies the engine via the pipe (16), the distributor-mixer ( II) and the pipe (7) which, by its T-shaped design, connects the openings (2) thus made / integral and in immediate communication with the suction channels of the various cylinders.
After thirty seconds of running the engine, the temperature of the gasifier is sufficient to transform the nature of the fuel intended to replace the gasoline. At this moment, by acting on the additional control (15), the gasifier circuit is opened. liquid fuel other than gasoline which will immediately supply the engine with the gases necessary to ensure its operation under conditions which are identical to those of gasoline. At this moment, a very special phenomenon occurs;
when we cut the arrival of gasoline
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the pipe (7) still contains a certain quantity of vaporized gasoline, but as soon as the opening of circuit 6-10-2 is made, the suction draws a part of this gasoline which mixes with the first fuel oil suction. We will therefore have gasoline suction, closing, oil + gasoline suction then oil suction, this is what causes the engine to run without accout. The flow rate, or gas dosage on which the engine speed and operation will depend, will be made by the one and the same original foot accelerator (14) which acts simultaneously on the carburetor adjustment flaps (3) and (4).
Gasifier- Its main role is to modify the constitution of the fuel, which, after a first physical modification, vaporization and pulverization, undergone in the carburetor, is drawn into the apparatus where. it is transformed chemically, completely modifying its nature, so that a perfectly homogeneous gas mixture is available for supplying the engine, which does not allow any condensation and therefore cannot in any case dilute the gas. lubricant or foul the parts in contact with the noisy gases.
