<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

II Improvements made to the containers, in particular for preserving aromatic substances and similar substances ".
The present invention relates to cabinets of the type comprising horizontally movable containers in the form of a drawer or box which are completely or partially made of glass and in which are stored, for example, spices, medicines. , chemicals and the like.
Until now, the drawers of cabinets of this kind have been constructed so as to be open at the top. The airiness obtained by a rim provided all around the front side of the drawer and applying against the front edge of the compartment in which the drawer is housed, was very incomplete and consequently the foodstuffs or other aromatic substances '' kept in drawers of this kind very quickly lose their aroma. In addition, the humidity of the foodstuffs stored in this way
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
will vary according to the humidity of the air.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks and the invention is characterized essentially by the fact that the drawer is completely closed with the exception of an opening in its interior part, said opening being susceptible. to be closed with a cover so as to prevent the aromatic substances or foodstuffs stored in the drawer from losing their aroma.
Two embodiments of the drawer according to the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 and 2 are sections through two differently constructed drawers.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the drawer shown in FIG. 2.
Reference numeral 2 designates the front wall of the drawer and reference numeral 3 denotes the housing containing the latter. The handle 4 is arranged on the front wall of the drawer. This front wall is preferably provided with a flange 5 extending all around this wall and applying in a sealed manner against the front edge of the aforesaid housing when the drawer is inserted therein. The inner part of the drawer according to fig. 1 has its upper and lower walls inclined towards each other. The lower wall is so arranged that a planar portion 6 is obtained which forms an obtuse angle with the wall and on which the goods to be withdrawn accumulate when the drawer is tilted so as to lower its inner portion.
The goods which have piled up on the flat part 6 can then be easily extracted using a spoon or the like.
If desired, the goods can drain by themselves when the drawer is tilted sufficiently. The top wall is inclined downwards only to the extent sufficient that a neck 7 can be formed around the opening 8 in such a manner that a cover 9 screwed onto the neck.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
aforesaid or fixed in any other way can not prevent the introduction of the drawer into the cabinet. In this case, the cover preferably forms an angle with the upper wall and with the lower wall.
In the example of FIG. 2 also, the top wall of the drawer is inclined downwards only in such a way that a cover 9 placed on the neck 7 does not prevent the insertion of the drawer into the cabinet. In this embodiment, the opening 8 is shown large enough that a whole hand can be inserted into the sluice. Likewise, in this embodiment, the drawer is constructed in such a way that for a sufficient inclination of the latter, the goods can collapse by themselves.
In the embodiments shown, the drawers are made entirely of glass, but they can of course be made of any other suitable material. It is also possible to produce only the front side in glass, and to form the other sides of the drawer in another material.
Fig. 3 shows that the interior portion of the drawer is rounded in an arc of a circle, but it may have any arched shape or consist of one or more flat surfaces. The size of the opening 8 can obviously vary. If desired, a sealing disc or ring can be provided between the cover and the drawer neck. The front side of the drawer is preferably square so that it can be used whether the cabinet is arranged vertically or horizontally, but of course any other shape considered suitable can be used.
A drawer according to the present invention can be used for spice cabinets, in pharmacies and drugs.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
ries or herbalists, when it comes to storing more or less delicate substances. Therefore, for example, one or more drawers according to the invention can be employed in a spice cabinet, while the other drawers containing less delicate goods can be opened.
CLAIMS.
1. A drawer for a cabinet for foodstuffs, medicines or spices and the like, movable horizontally and provided with a cover closing the drawer and a handle on the front wall, characterized in that the upper part of the inner part of the drawer is shaped as a neck for carrying the closing cover, if aromatic substances are kept in the drawer, and in that the neck is arranged so as to be included within the contour of the front wall so that no protruding part can prevent the drawer from being inserted into the cabinet seat.
