<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Lorsqu'on continue de faire tourner la manivelle 28,une came 52 est mise en rotation par l'intermédiaire d'une croix de Malte 50 (Fig.3) calée sur l'extrémité inférieure de l'arbre 44 et d'une seconde oroix de Malte 51 coopérant avec la croix de Malte 50;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
Machine for the automatic molding and delivery of edible ice cream.
The invention relates to a machine for the automatic molding and dispensing of edible ice cream in which the one of ice intended for molding is taken up by a tool which moves relative to the surface of the supply of edible ice.
The object of the invention is to allow easy and convenient removal of the edible ice cream and to deliver the latter, for example, in the form of wafers of correct shape.
According to the invention, there is provided for this purpose a knife disposed obliquely with respect to the surface of the ice which serves to remove or detach the mass of ice cream and it is formed above the knife, to receive the detached ice, a chamber into which the removed or loosened ice is brought by the knife and from which the ice is carried away by other organs, In this construction, the knife cuts the mass of ice

deny that these blades or knives puiseonb # despite this, act on the entire surface of the block of ice. In the plate 5 is provided, above the knife, a housing 10 which opens laterally into an adjacent housing 11 receiving the edible ice cream mold 12. This mold in principle has the shape of a U; it therefore opens towards the opening 10 and, moreover, on both sides

frontally (forward and backward in Fig.l, and left and right in PIS # 2).
Between the housing 10 and the mold 12 is a drawer 13

(Fig.1) which is controlled by a lifting rod 14 on which the mold 12 is placed. Control # 'is effected by means of cams 15, 16 mounted on the rod 14 which act on a lever with two arms 17, to know in such a way that during the last part

of the downward stroke of the rod 14 in Fig.l, the lever moves, all the action of the arms, in the dextrorsum direction and that, by this means, the drawer opens, On the other hand, in the first part of the stroke ascending rod 14, the lever 17 moves in the sound system 'in11ror8um and therefore the drawer closes.
The drawer must prevent the edible ice from falling from chamber 10 into chamber 11, as long as the mold is not in chamber 11,
To fill the mold, we turn the tank 2, namely
EMI3.7
in the elaistrorsum direction * so that the knife 8 removes material from the provision which does not find below8 and introduces this material into the chamber 10 and into the mold 12 which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
is placed behind * After filling the mold, it is lifted by means of the lifting rod 14, the connecting rod 18 which connects to it and the crank arm 19 and this until it is dama the housing or chamber 21 provided at the inner end of the wafer wells or cores 20.
As soon as the mold has reached this position, an automatic control device which aera described later stops the lifting device and, by means of the spool 22, a wafer 23 is slid from the well 20a to the mold 12 (Fig.4). Then, like on the Roof! 5 with the aid of the expeller 24, the block of edible ice 25, the wafer 23 located below the mold 12 and the wafer 26 which is located completely below are expelled from the second well to wafers 20b, so that everything arrives on the delivery table 27.
The control and distribution device which determines the movements which have just been described is established as follows: the device is actuated by means of an arm crank 28 (Fig.2). On the crank shaft is mounted, so as to be able to turn, a pinion 29 and, so as not to be able to turn, but to be able to move longitudinally, a coupling sleeve 30, the other side of which is opposite. screw to the coupling member of an angle wheel 31 also mounted to pivot on the crank shaft.
When moving the coupling sleeve 30 to the left, the pinion 29 does not couple with the crank shaft, while, when moving to the right, it is on the contrary the angle wheel 31 which t 'coupled*
The coupling sleeve is operated by a boot 33, internally provided with a cam groove 32, which is actuated by a pinion 34 wedged on the crank shaft and the pinion 35 rigidly connected to the box 33.
In the cam groove 32 engages a stud 38 which is fixed to a box 37; the latter can move axially on the hub of the boot 33, which hub is capable of pivoting in the boot 37. The boot 37 is connected, via the braa 38, with the coupling sleeve 30.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
After the start of the rotational movement of the arm crank 28, the cam groove 32 moves the gearbox 37 and with it the coupling lever 30 to the left so as to couple the pinion 29 with the crank shaft. * With the transmission ratio chosen for the pinions 34.35 and the assumed groove shape, the coupling sleeve 30 moves to the right again after the crank has made four turns and, consequently, the wheel 29 ae disconnects from the crankshaft.
During the coupling period, the pot 2 is rotated, by turning the arm crank 28, by means of the toothed wheel 39, the shaft 40, the angle wheels 41 and 42 and the shaft 3, so aorta, therefore, that the knife 8, which rests on the mass of edible ice in the pot 2, comes into action.
When the arm crank has completed its fourth revolution, the coupling sleeve 30 engages the angle wheel 31, which has the effect of coupling the latter with the arm crank shaft and actuates the crank. 19 and with it the mechanism for lifting the mold 12, via the angle wheel 43, the shaft 44 (Fig.2) of the wheels. angle 45, 46, shaft 47 (Fig.l) and Maltese crosses 48, 49.
The Maltese cross gear system ensures that the order is interrupted in good time, as soon as the mold has entered the housing 21 (fig. 1)
When continuing to rotate the crank 28, a cam 52 is rotated by means of a Maltese cross 50 (Fig. 3) wedged on the lower end of the shaft 44 and a second oroix de Malte 51 cooperating with the Maltese Cross 50;
this cam activates first of all by means of the groove 53 the drawer 22 which slides under the mold the gautrette 23 (Fig. 4) ae being completely in the lower part of the well 20a, then the cam groove 54 moves to the right, in Figs. 3 and 5, the ejeotor 24, which has the effect of expelling the edible block of ice with the wafer which is above and below: the drawer 22 and the ejector 24 are then recalled simultaneously by their corresponding cam groove.
In the inter-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The Maltese cross continued to move in a sufficient quantity for there to be again a command of the Maltese cross 49 and, consequently, of the crank 19, to opt that the mold is again guided downhill by the lifting mechanism. As has already been said, the drawer 13 then opens to you, in the last part of the downstroke.
Then, at the end of the fifth turn of the arm crank 28, the coupling sleeve 30 is returned to the left, to the disengaging position shown at Pig.l, by the same groove 32, the pin 36 and the boot 37.
Using the elbow lever 55 (Pig. 2a). the boot 33 can be moved by hand to the left concurrently with the toothed wheel 35, so that this wheel ceases to mesh with the toothed wheel 34. By this means, the toothed wheel 29 @ 'connects, therefore movement to the left of the coupling sleeve 50, with the toothed wheel 39 and, with it, by means of the intermediate members, with the control shaft 3 of the pot 2, by disengaging the distribution mechanism, from aort that, when turning the arm crank 28, for the production of ice, the po t 2 can be driven in a permanent rotational movement.
It goes without saying that, in this arrangement, the plate 7 (Fig. 1) can, together with the plate 5, be raised sufficiently so that the plate 5 comes out of the pot 2.
The casing or casing 1 has a nose 56 (Fig.2a) which cannot engage in a deep notch of the wheel 35, when this wheel ae is in its original position. The nose is used, when the toothed wheel 35 is disengaged by hand, by means of the bent lever 55, to firmly secure this wheel 35, so that the latter cannot, during the disconnection, leave the position of rotation. original so important from the point of view of the correct conduct of distribution operations.
In the form of construction which is shown in Figs.
7 and 8, the plate 5 is capable of raising and lowering independently of the cogs, so that the latter and with them the ejector of products remain in one and the same position,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
regardless of the position of plate 5 in pot 2.
As a result of the change in position of the plate 5 relative to the cogs, the lifting of the mold 12 from its internal position to its upper pool in the housing 21 (Fig, l) of the wafer well 20, which for greater simplicity, has not been shown in FIG. 7 is modified. This variation of the lift is authorized by the following system:
The lifting rod 14a of the mold 12 rises and falls by means of the lever 57. This lever 57 moves under the action of a crank control, roughly in the same way as that which has been used. described next to figures 1 to 6.
In a tent 58 of the rod 57 is movable a guide sleeve 59 which carries a pin 60. This pin is applied, in the upward movement of the lever 57, and consequently of the lifting rod 14a, against the upper limit. - Re a tent 61 formed in the lifting rod. In the descent movement of the lever 57, the pin 60 is pressed against a pawl 62 held in its position by a latch 63. When the mold connects it by the lifting rod 14a, in this case with the interposition of a leaf spring 64 has reached its lowest position, the nes 63a of the locking pawl 63 has come within reach of a stop 65.
In the continuation of the movement of the lifting rod 14a, which takes place under the effect of the compression of the spring 64, the locking pawl 63 moves outwards under the action of the stop 65, so that the pawl 62 can lower under the pressure of the stud 60 and the action of its own weight.
In all the positions in which the mold 12 arrives at its extreme lower position, due to the lower position of the plate 5, before the lever 57b has reached its final position, the lever 57 therefore automatically disconnects from the lifting rod.
When the lever 57 goes up, the stud 60 begins by running blank in the slot 61, until it hits the upper limit of the tent and consequently drives the relay rod. vage 14a. A little before, the pin 60 meets a shoulder 66, directed downward from the pawl 62 and thus brings back the pawl 62
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
to the position which is shown in FIG. 8 in which it is held by the latch 63 subjected to the action of the spring 67.
The pawl 62 is also subjected to the action of a spring 68 which attempts to rotate this pawl in the sinister direction so that it therefore does not wander through the slot while it is unlocked.
In the form of construction which is shown in FIG. 7, it is guided in the tray or plate 5 of the spatulas 69, the height of which can be adjusted after having loosened the wing nut 70. These spatulas, which can naturally have any suitable shape, serve to stir the mass, for example in the case where; as a result of the rise in temperature in pot 2; the external losses of the mass have taken on a softer consistency. only those of the spatulas which are located on the outside wall have been shown, these spatulas naturally also being able to be brought closer towards the interior.
The guide columns 6 can also, if necessary, be established in the form of spatulas.
In the event that the apparatus should be set up in the form of a cash-triggered vending machine, the coin may possibly, as stated above, act on a locking device which ordinarily opposes the coin. rotation of the crank 29 and which is triggered by a side or indirect action of the coin.
The control device which is described above should then be set up such that the last operation is relocking.
To prevent, under the effect of an excessively high rise in temperature of the machine and of the melting thus caused of the overhaul of edible ice, it is possible to use the appliance again, the machine with a locking device controlled by a tthermostat., This locking device can, for example, act directly on the crank shaft.
The application of such a device is of particular importance when the apparatus is set up.

In the form of construction that eet; shown in Figures 9 and 10, there is on the underside of the plate 5, which can be guided in the manner shown. , FIG. 1 or that shown in Fig.7, a knife 76 which is placed obliquely to the surface of the edible ice and whose upper edge is located at a certain distance from below the plate. It is through the tent or opening 76 thus formed that the edible ice which is supplied in excess can escape, as soon as a chamber 77, provided above the knife, is full.
From the chamber 77, the ice can continue to travel by means of a piston 78, to be discharged into a chamber 79 disposed behind the chamber 77 or else form a continuous shape which is cut into pieces by a device. cutting. When the chamber 79 is established so as to constitute a mold, such as the mold 12 in the construction form according to Fig. 1, this mold can be brought to the delivery station. To separate the caps 77 and 79 from one another, a drawer 80 is used which is hinged to a lever 81. This lever is hinged to a bearing 82 disposed on a base that the plate 5 presents, a spring 83 constantly tends to bring the spool 80 into its lower position separating the chambers 77 and 79 from one another.
During the movement of the piston 78, the spool 80 is prevented from doing so by a distribution segment 84. This segment 84 rolls a roller 85 journaling on the lever 81, so that the lever 81 and with it the spool 80 are maintained. in the position shown in FIG. 1 in antagonism to the action of the spring 83. This distribution segment 84 cannot rotate, but it is mounted on the shaft 3 so as to move with the plate 5? Apart from Segment 84, there are further provided, on the shaft 3, toothed segments 86 and 87 which act on a toothed wheel 88 established in the form of a crank plate. On this toothed wheel 88 is wedged a crank 89 which engages in a tent 90 of a lever 92 pivoting about an axis 91.
Consequently, the lever 92 reciprocates during a rotation caused by the ballast segments 86 and 87
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
As the lever is connected to the piston 78 by a pin and groove connection 93, this piston also moves back and forth and thus drives out into the chamber 79 the mass of edible glase which is in the storage chamber 77 The toothed segment 84 is disposed relative to the toothed segments 86 and 87 such that it is held in its position of inactivity again.
