<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

perturbateur pouvait les prendre tangentiellement;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

DEVIATOR DEVIATOR FOR FLUID CURRENTS
The present invention relates to a vacuum diverter device intended to create a draft in a born path, or pipe, or to ensure a renewal of the atmosphere in a given space.
According to the invention, a first nozzle having the effect of raising the wind or the relative current of the fluid is placed at the orifice of the duct, or in any other place of passage of the fluid, which must be discharged into any atmosphere. 'atmosphere relative to the orifice of the conduit, a second nozzle being further provided to cooperate with the first as follows:
The first nozzle which has the effect of deflecting the relative wind, and if necessary to amplify its speed (the nozzle
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
being for this purpose preferably convergent) creates a current which is directed at any suitable point of the fluid stream to be aspirated, and for example above the orifice of this fluid stream to be aspirated or evacuated, and is then taken up again by the second nozzle, which will preferably be divergent, after having provided above the orifice a draft acting by a sort of induction on the fluid stream to be evacuated, this draw being outside or inside the fluid stream depending on the location chosen for the installation of the device, which further prevents any harmful eddies and ensures greater diffusion into the atmosphere of the fluid to be discharged.
The surfaces forming the nozzles can also be arranged so as to protect the orifice of the duct from the fluid stream to be evacuated against the fall of rain or any foreign body.
The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of example, will clearly explain the manner in which the invention can be implemented.

evacuation.
Figs. 5 and 6 are respectively cut by Y Y and X X of fig. 4.
Fig. 7 shows in vertical section another variant embodiment of the invention applied to a duct for the ventilation of a car, wagon, etc. according to the invention, on the duct e for evacuating the fluid which, in the drawing, is a fireplace
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
but could be a locomotive pipe, an exhaust tube, etc ..., there is a first nozzle formed of the surfaces a b interesting a sector of the circular periphery of the chimney, and leaving between them a converging space. Above the orifice d of the duct e are arranged two surfaces c d1, the surface c being circular and the surface dl having the shape of a segment of a circle.
These two surf aces are parallel, or slightly divergent, and provide between them and the upper edge of the pipe e a passage which is greater than the cross section of the passage ab and constitutes, because it is of revolution and s' widens as one moves away from the gh axis, a divergent.
The set of surfaces a b c dl which forms a whole can pivot around. from the vertical axis g h of the duct e and leaves a tail unit not shown which allows it to orient itself in the wind like a weather vane.
This relative or absolute wind is a motionless chimney, rushes in the direction of the arrows A in the nozzle ab and then passing through the nozzle cdc dl acts by a kind of induction on the current fluid to be evacuated from conduit 15 which is entrained in the direction of arrows B.
In the variant shown freezes 2 and 3, the nozzles a b, c d are formed with the aid of surfaces which concern the entire periphery of the chimney e and which, no longer needing to be oriented in the wind, are fixed. these surfaces are braced by solid vertical partitions / μ which have the effect of dividing the circular nozzles into sectors, some of these sectors then working, to the exclusion of others, following the direction of the wind. this arrangement has the advantage of giving a roughly rectangular cross section to the fluid current A driving and the driven current B, which avoids seeing deformation under the influence of the wind surrounding the fluid veins as much as they do. if their contours are circular, the wind

disruptor could take them tangentially;
The device is not necessarily placed at the end of the exhaust duct, and several devices can be staggered on the duct to work in parallel or in series, possibly in the body of the exhaust duct, vertically. , obliquely or horizontally. Devices will be able to act tangentially on the veina to be sucked or diffused so as to each carry only part of the vein and obtain, for example, a greater diffusion.
When several devices worked the vein tangentially, they could be placed in steps along the evacuation duct. It is this latter arrangement which is shown in FIGS. 4 to 6,
Three devices spanning the height of the duct e, The device located at the top is the same as that shown in fig. 2. The other two devices tangentially attack the fluid vein to be evacuated.
For this purpose, converging nozzles are brought in rs on the openings t which are made (fig. 5 to @ over the entire periphery of the duct e, the same outlet nozzles uv are formed by the same of the duct e and a sleeve v remotely surrounding an opening w of the pipe e, The arrows A1 indicate the direction of the drive current which tangentially takes the fluid stream to be evacuated,
The surfaces forming the divergent nozzles are deformed as seen at 1 and k to protect the outlet openings, for example against rain.
The induction or suction effect exerted by the current A or A1 on the vacuum to be evacuated may not necessarily occur just above the evacuation duct e as shown in figs. 1 and 2. we can carry over.

ct suction effect outside the duct e. This arrangement is shown in fig. 7 which shows in vertical section a duct e for the aeration of a car whose roof is shown at x.
The divergent nozzle is formed by the space between a surface attached above the upper wall n of the duct e. The suction effect, instead of occurring above the duct e, is transferred when the wind relative to the direction f. in: e, the surfaces m n channeling the air stream A leaving the nozzle a b,
An air intake can be provided between the surface b of the nozzle and the roof x of the car.
Such a device, particularly applicable to the ventilation of cars, to skylights, etc ... has a very small size and offers only low resistance to movement.
It goes without saying that, without departing from the scope of the invention, it can be subjected to modifications of detail, and in particular the apparatus is not applicable only to air, but to any other fluid.
