Jusqu'à présent, on a fait usage d'étroites bandelettes en celluloide pour raidir les bouts des cols mous et les pré- server des pliages ou pour les empêcher de se croquer. Or,il fallait coudre,de façon spéciale, dans le col, une pochette à destination de ce celluloïde afin d'avoir la possibilité,au lessivage et au repassage, d'ôter et de remettre ces soutiens en celluloïde.

Pour un col double ,dénomné"montant-rabattu",auquel l' invention est d'application particulièrement heureuse, le noyau intérieur peut être constitué par une bandelette étroite repliée sur elle-même,laquelle se place le long des bords extérieurs de la partie extérieure repliée,là où elle peut être tenue par une couture grâce à la couture du col. Comme matière pour la piece d'intérieur ou noyau, qu'il convient d'imprégner du produit en cause avec application d'une forte pression et de la chaleur,on peut adopter, préférablement, les matières qui s'emploient,par exemple, pour le travail du relieur et autres applications de ce genre,et tout généralement connues.
Au de- meurant,on peut faire usage de n'importe quelle matière remplissant les conditions citées,ayant,notamment,la propriété de mollit dans t'eau.puis de redevenir raide au séchage,pourvu qu'elle ne perde pas cette propriété en cours d'usage,en particulier au lessivage.
