"Produit anti-rouille."
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Anti-rust product."
The present invention relates to an anti-rust product in liquid form.
Its aim is to produce a product capable of combating iron oxide, both before or after its formation on metals and that which would have been deposited by contact on textiles or similar materials.
The aim of the invention is in particular to produce a liquid product capable of combating rust by a simple application with a brush or by means of a pad.
For this purpose, the product according to the invention comprises phosphoric acid.
In a preferred form, the aforementioned proportion of phosphoric acid varies between 25 and 60% by weight. According to this embodiment, the product comprises about 35 to 70% water.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A particular detail of the subject of the invention resides in the fact that approximately 5% of isopropyl alcohol is incorporated therein with the optional addition of an orant neck.
Other details and features of the subject of the invention will emerge from the description of an anti-rust product according to the invention and its mode of use, given below by way of non-limiting example. .
The recommended product comprises an aqueous solution, into which the water enters in a proportion varying between 35 and 70% of the total weight. The predominant element is constituted by phosphoric acid incorporated in a proportion varying between 25 and 60%, while a reduced amount (approximately 5%) of isopropyl alcohol is used in the mixture. To this latter amount may be added a suitable metal dye.
The use of this product for all metallic surfaces can be done after mechanical removal of the rust layer, if it reaches half a millimeter.
The product can be applied with a flexible brush or with a gun. The ensuing chemical reaction should be able to take place for 15 to 30 minutes, after which it is necessary to remove the dissolved iron oxides.
This can be done by washing with large amounts of water.
Preference will be given to hot water: in order to activate the drying of the parts. In some cases it may be sufficient to wash the parts with a damp cloth.
Black spots may still remain on the rusted surfaces after applying the product; These black spots are due to decomposing oxides. To eliminate these black spots, the rusted surfaces must be coated again with an anti-rust coating and preferably activated by means of a wire brush.
Surfaces which have been rusted with the product described above should preferably be washed with water.

hot if you want to paint them afterwards; the application of the paint can only take place when the treated surfaces have completely dried. If, on the contrary, the unrolled surfaces should not receive a coat of paint, it is advisable to apply a new coat of anti-rust and leave it to dry as it is on the previously de-rusted objects. This procedure makes it possible to protect the treated objects against any appearance of new oxides and it is absolutely certain that these will not appear until the protective layer has been mechanically removed.
Surfaces to be stripped which are corroded by rust, to the point that this is in the form of scales up to half a centimeter thick, must be mechanically descaled.
The elimination of rust stains on fabrics, tetiles in general, paper or any other material, can be obtained by this same product, the application of which presents no difficulty. In fact, it suffices to fix a piece of cotton wool around a stick or to take the latter by means of pliers, to soak the cotton wool in the liquid to then soak the objects to be stripped with it; the stains disappear after rubbing with the cotton ball. In the event that thick fabrics are being treated and the rust has pierced the fabric, it is useful, in order to obtain a rapid reaction, to repeat the operation on each side of the fabric.
Depending on the degree of impregnation and the longer or shorter time during which the objects have been soiled, it may be necessary to carry out several operations, treating the fabric for 5 to 20 minutes. As soon as the stain has disappeared, the treated object should be rinsed with cold water and dried.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications could be made to it, mainly as regards the dosage of the products involved in the composition.
