BRRVET D' l N V E N T l 0 B GANT DE MASSAGE
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

BRRVET D 'l N V E N T l 0 B MASSAGE GLOVES
In the treatment of the body by massage, it is known that the most effective massage is that done by hand, without the aid of devices. For example, in the treatment of nervous diseases by massage, the latter can only be carried out with the hand or the fingertips of the masseur, since the parts of the body to be treated are extremely sensitive. To perform the massage by hand, it is necessary
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
however, pr a preliminary lubrication of the parts of the body concerned, reduce the friction due to the massage; but this has the disadvantage of blocking the pores of the skin, and moreover the sensation of a fatty substance on the skin is not pleasant.
In the treatment by mechanical massage by means of apparatus, it has been found that the most favorable action is obtained by passing over the part of the body to be treated, rolling balls or similar rolling bodies, subjected to pressure. But all the devices of this kind known until now have the drawback that, for the treatment, the "touch" of the masseur's hand is missing, that it is not possible to regulate the pressure at certain points. determined, and that this mechanical treatment only partially replaces hand massage.
The object of the present invention is a hand massage device, in which the advantages of hand massage and those of mechanical massage by means of rolling organs are combined. The invention consists in that the massage members, consisting of rotating members, for example balls, in any desired material, are mounted on the internal face of a glove, the massage members preferably being arranged in sense of the fingers and protruding parts of the inner face of the hand.
For this purpose, a full mitten, a thumb mitt or a full finger mitt can be used. The invention also consists in that the ball-shaped massager is enclosed in a cage mounted in a ball bearing, which allows the rolling body to rotate in friction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Another particular advantage is that the spherical massage member is made of a material which releases electricity under the action of friction, preferably of ebonite. The action of the friction electricity is therefore added to that of the massage,
The drawing shows, by way of example, some embodiments of the new device.
Fig. 1 is a top view of the inner face of a thumb mitt,
Figs. 2 and 3 show the subdivided mitt.
Fig. 4 is a top view of a full finger glove.
Fig. 5 is a single finger view.
Fig, 6 is a section on a larger scale made in a massage member and showing its mode of attachment.
Fig. 7 is a section on a larger scale, according to FIG. 4, with a particular method of fixing.
The glove consists of a flexible material, for example leather, fabrics, rubber, etc., or a combination of these materials. On the internal face are distributed the massage members of which it can be provided any desired number. The arrangement consisting in placing a massaging member at the height of the first phalanx, and another at the height of the last phalanx, or on the three joints and on the legs, has been recognized as particularly advantageous. protruding parts of the palm of the hand, for example the roots of the fingers, the eminence of the thumb and the eminence of the little finger.
The massage member preferably consists of a spherical rotating body b housed in a cage c. In the background of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
cage is mounted a metal sleeve d whose end, which penetrates into the interior of the age, is flanged so as to constitute a flange e. This flange serves as a rolling surface for an annular ball bearing f.
The other end of the sleeve d serves to fix the massage member to the internal face of the glove a, the end d1 being able to be flanged with the interposition of a washer ± so that the material constituting the glove is strongly clamped between the bottom of the caga and the washer g.
Fig. 7 shows a particular embodiment of the method of fixing the massage member on the glove, the cage c of the ball bearing is in one piece with the socket h; this sleeve is rimmed in the same way as that shown in fig. 6.
Instead of spherical massagers, they can also be used in the form of rollers, but the spherical shape has given the best results.
To also allow electric massage with the massage glove according to the invention, the support ± can, in a known manner, be of a material sufficiently insulating for the electric current, while the rolling bodies b and their bearings f and housings o are of a good conductive material and connected to each other so as to allow the passage of current. The current source can then be connected to one of the massager's gloves, from where the current passes to the other glove, either through a conductor or through the body of the person being massaged, and there the current returns to its source.
To increase the action of the massage, the bearings and the housings have
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
may be surrounded by silk or any other friction material, at a height substantially equal to that of the upper massaging surface of the rotary member b.
Instead of having a separate current source, it can also adopt such an arrangement that the balls are made of a material which gives off electricity by friction, for example ebonite. The action of the massage is thus further increased by the action of the friction electricity.
The invention is not limited exclusively to the embodiments shown in the drawings for the massage glove; it also relates to isolated fingers (see fig. 5) which are provided with any number of rotating members b and which can be fixed to the palm of the hand, for example by straps, cords, etc.,. rolled up on the hand, or in any other way.
The mitten or glove can be given any shape you want, you can use a thumb mitt (fig. 1) or subdivide it (fig. 2 and 3). In addition, the use of a full finger glove is possible as shown in fig. 4. But in any case, the thumb must also be provided with massage organs, to allow a hand massage, RESUMA
