" DISTRIBUTEUR AUTOMATIQUE DE TABAC POUR MACHINE A CIGARILLOS,
CIGARES ET POUPES.
Le présent brevet a pour objet un distributeur automatique de tabac pouvant s'adapter aux machines pour la fabrication de cigarillos, de cigares et de poupes. Le distributeur envisagé comporte un magasin à tabac dans lequel se trouvent des cylindres transporteurs de tabac animés d'un mouvement de rotation dont deux de façon intermittente et dont la durée de rotation réglable dépend de la charge de tabac à introduire entre les fuseaux de la machine pour fabriquer soit un cigarillos soit un cigare soit une poupe suivant la conformité des fuseaux de la machine.
La charge de tabac, déversée tombe sur une tôle, formant couloir,qui la déverse exactemententre les fuseaux ou rouleaux inférieurs de la machine lorsque les fuseaux ou reuleaux supérieurs de -. celle-ci sont relevés, et ceci automatiquement,par la ma- noeuvre d'un levier,provoquant en même temps que la rotation des cylindres transporteurs le déplacement entre les fuseaux ou rou-- leaux inférieurs de la machine de la partie inférieure de la /

tôle ou couloir distributeur doué à cet effet d'une certaine élasticité.
Les dessins annexés et la partie deecriptiveci-dessous feront ressortir davantage l'objet de l'invention.
A cet effet la fig.I représente une vue de face en élévation du distributeur, le panneau de devant enlevé partiellement.

En se reportant aux fig ci-dessus, 1 représente la table de la machine àcigarillos ,cigares, poupes 2, comportant les fuseaux ou rouleaux inférieurs 8 -et supérieurs 9 déplaçables avec les flasques 6 réunies par une entretoise 75 et dont 4 est l'axe de charnière sur une des extrémités duquel est articulé le levier d'ouverture 5 de la machine , commandé par la pédàle 7 au moyen de la tringle 6. Une des flasques 3 porte une coulisse 74 limitant l'ouverture angulaire et un ressort de rappel 73.
Le distributeur proprement dit comprend une cuve ou réservoir 25 dont la fig.I ré-présente la tôle de devant 72 partiellement enlevée afin de permettre la vue des rouleaux oucylindres intérieurs.
L'arbre moteur du distributeur est représenté par 53. La poulie motrice est 64 et à ses extrémités se trouvent d'une par'}:, la poulie 65 commandant par la courroie 66 la poulie 67 calée sur l'arbre 33 portant le tambour distributeur denté 30 dont il sera question plus loin, d'autre part la poulie 52 commandant par la

courroie 55 voir fig.2, une poulie 54 solidaire d'un manchon d'embrayage 57 tournant fou sur l'arbre 52 et susceptible d'en- trainer par le manchon correspondant 58 l'arbre 52 autour du- quel est disposé le ressort d'embrayage 56 et sur lequel est calé le pignon 51.
Le pignon 51 par la chaine 50 entraine le grand pignon 49 sur l'arbre 32 duquel est calé intérieurement un cylinare cardé 29. L'extrémité opposée de l'arbre 32 porte un pignon engrenant avec une chaine 68 enroulée sur un pignon correspondant calé sur un arbre 31 portant à l'intérieur du distributeur un autre cy- lindre cardé 28 tournant du même sens que le cylindre 29 auqu.el il enlève la quantité de tabac en excès.
L'intérieur du distributeur comporte en outre, les tôles 26 et 27 destinées à amener le tabac sur le tambour cardé dis- tributeur 29 . A la tôle 26 est fixé un bloc ou traverse 34 destiné à la soutenir.
Sur le devant de la machine à la portée de l'ouvrière est disposé un levier 35 dont la manoeuvre à un double but . Ce le- vier 35 se manoeuvre dans le sens vertical et comporte une fente 37 dans laquelle est disposé le coulisseau fixe d'un support 36.
L'extrémité supérieure du levier 35 est articulée en 38 au bras 39 d'une pièce 41 portant en 44 un cliquet 43 susceptible de s'engager entre les dents d'une roue à rochet 45 et ayant comme axe l'arbre 32. La roue à rochet 45- est solidaire au moyen d'un manchon ou buselure tournant avec l'arbre 32 , d'une roue 46 sur la périphérie de laquelle-sont engagés et fixés au moyen d'une vis de pression des taquets tels que 47 dont la partie la- térale 48 est profilée en forme de came. Les taquets voir fig.7 et 8 ont une rainure de section trapézoidale s'engageant sur la saillie correspondante de la périphérie de la roue 46.
Cette périphérie de la roue 46 comporte des évidements latéraux 71 permettant l'engagement des taquets sur la roue 46 sur la- quelle ils sont glissés puis fixés aux endroits convenables. Un support 61 fixé à la cuve 25 porte à son extrémité l'articula-

tion 60 d'un levier d'embrayage dont l'extrémité 69 porte une fourchette embrassant le manchon 57 et dont l'extrémité opposée porte en 63 un galet destiné à venir en contact avec les faces 48 des taquets tels que 47, et ainsi embrayer ou débrayer le manchon 58 suivant que le galet 63 est hors ou en contact avec la face 48 des taquets 47.
Le deuxième but du levier 35 est de donner un mouvement de rotation au moyen de la tringle 40 et du petit bras de manivelle correspondant à un arbre 12 sur lequel sont fixéses bras 13 @ aux extrémités desquelles sont suspendues les tringles 15 portant les charnières 16 auxquelles est fixée une traverse 17 aont les extrémités formant coulisseaux sont guidées dans les coulisses 70 de tôles ou flasques 69 disposées latéralement au réservoir 25.
Cette traverse 17 guidée par les coulisses 70 glisse sur une tôle distributrice 10 fixée rigidement à sa partie supérieure sur les extrémités latérales de laquelle s'articulent en 23 les petits bras de leviers coudés 21 articulés en 22 sur la cuve 25 et dont les extrémités sont commandées en 20 par des montants 19 fixés extérieurement en 18 sur les flasques 3 formant le cou- vercle de la machine. En outre, sur la tôle IO sont ménagées deux ailes formant guides 24 dont l'écartement des extrémités en regard, règle la distance suivant laquelle doit se faire la répartition du tabac entre les fuseaux ou rouleaux 8 .
Le fonctionnement s'opère comme suit :
La machine à cigarillos, cigares, à poupes étant en orare de marche, l'arbre moteur 53 du distributeur actionnée par la uoulie 64 tourne à une vitesse appropriée et entraine d'une part par la poulie 65 et la courroie-66, la poulie 67 qui calée sur l'arbre 33, entraine ainsi ce dernier et le tambour denté 30 dont les dents passent entre les cardes du cylindre cardé 29 pour le moment à l'arrêt d'autre part par la poulie 53 et la courroie 55, la poulie 54 solidaire du manchon d'embrayage 57 tournant fou sur l'arbre 52 à ce moment débrayé de celui-di-

formée par les tôles intérieures 26 et 27 et la cuve 25 du dis- tributeur étant supposée chargée de tabac, l'ouvrière en poussant sur la pédale 7 commandant l'ouverture de la machine , fera lever le couvercle 3 ce qui aura pour effet voir fig. 5, de faire pivoter en 22 le levier 21 par la trin le 19 et ainsi d'amener vu la traction exercée en 23 ,la tôle distributrice 10 en avant au dessus des rouleaux 8. A ce moment, il faut amener la quantité de tabac nécessaire au remplissage.
A cet effet, l'ouvrière relèvera vers le haut à fond de course par sa poignée , la tringle 35 . Il en résultera un déplacement rétrograde du cliquet 43 sur la roue à rochet 45.. A ce moment le galet 63 du levier d'embrayage 62 est en contact avec la face 38 d'un taquet 47 et du fait maintient le manchon 57 débrayé malgré la pression du ressort 56 mais aussitôt que l'on ramène la poignée 35 du levier vers le bas en entraine la roue à rochet 45 ce qui provoque larupture du contact de la face 48 d'avec le galet 63,
d'où pivotement du levier d'embrayage 62 sous l'action du ressort 56 et conséquemment la rotation de l'arbre 52 et de son pignon 51 qui par la chaine 50 fait tourner le pignon 49 entrainant l'arbre 32 du tambour cardé 29 distributeur qui se mettra à décrire un mouvement angulaire jusque ce que un autre taquet 47 ,tournant avec la roue 46 vienne buter sur le galet 63 du levier d'embrayage et l'oblige par la conformité de sa face 48 faisant office de came, à débrayer le manchon mo- teur 57, de l'arbre 52 qui alors s'arrête de tourner de même que le tambour cardé distributeur 29.
Pendant que ce dernier à tourné de même que le tambour cardé 28 grâce à la chaine 68 réunissant leur arbre 32 respectivement 31, le tabac qui a suivi la trajectoire de la flèche a;, a été arraché des cardes du tambour 29 par les dents du cylindre 30 qui est toujours en rotation et lancé sur le couloir distributeur IO d'où il est tombé guidé par les tôles latérales 24 entre les fuseaux 8 suivant une lon- gueur correspondant à l'écartement des extrémités des tôles la- térales 24. A ce moment, l'ouvrière en soulevant légèrement la poignée du levier 35, fait pivoter l'arbre longitudinal 12 et @

descendre par conséquent les bras 15 auxquels est suspendue comme un pendule, la traverse 17 guidée par de petits coulisseaux dans les coulisses 70 voir fig.3 et 4.
Cette traverse suspendue verticalement vient racler le tabac qui pourrait encore séjourner sur la tôle IO et le presse entre les rouleaux 8. Il est à re- marquer que le léger mouvement du levier 35 n'est pas suffisant pour faire reculer le cliquet 43 et provoquer l'embrayage. Le tabac étant ainsi réparti entre les fuseaux 8 l'ouvrière peut introduire là ou les feuilles de tabac destinées à former la cou- verture ou la toilette du cigarillos, relever la pédale 7 et ainsi rabattre les flasques 3 portant les cylindres 9 . En emorayant la machine broprement dite par sa pédale non représentée on - provoquera la rotation des fuseaux 8 et 9 ce qui déterminera la fa- brication du cigarillos .
Après le temps de rotation voulu, l'ou- verture de la machine fera apparaitre le cigarillos fabriqué qui une fois retiré permettra, le renouvellement des opérations comme décrit ci-dessus.
La quantité de tabac déversée par le distributeur dépendra de l'écartement donné entre les taquets 47 répartis à la périphérie de la roue 46. Toutefois cette quantité pourra être modifiée en nlus ou en moins et suivant la nature et la qualité du tabac, en soulevant ou rapprochant les tambours cardés 28 et 29 l'un de l'au- tre en règlant les boulons de suspension 76 des paliers supportant l'arbre 31 du tambour cardé 28. Il sera même possible en vue de donner plus de tabac d'un côté que de l'autre de déplacer légère- ment l'un par rapport à l'autre les paliers de l'arbre SI.
Il résulte de ce qui précède l'admission méthodique d'une quantité toujours la même pour un type de fabrication de cigarillos, cigare, ou poupe et ceci d'une manière très rapide.
Il va de soi, que d'autres détails ou modalités constructives peuvent être envisagés sans que pour cela on s'écarte du cadre du domaine du présent brevet pouvant se caractériser par ce qui suit :

The present patent relates to an automatic tobacco dispenser capable of being adapted to machines for the manufacture of cigarillos, cigars and dolls. The envisaged distributor comprises a tobacco store in which there are tobacco transport cylinders driven in a rotational movement, two of which are intermittent and whose adjustable rotation time depends on the load of tobacco to be introduced between the spindles of the machine. to make either a cigarillos or a cigar or a stern depending on the conformity of the spindles of the machine.

Referring to the above figs, 1 represents the table of the machine for cigarettes, cigars, stems 2, comprising the lower 8 -and upper 9 spindles or rollers movable with the flanges 6 joined by a spacer 75 and of which 4 is the hinge pin on one end of which is articulated the opening lever 5 of the machine, controlled by the pedal 7 by means of the rod 6. One of the flanges 3 carries a slide 74 limiting the angular opening and a return spring 73.
The distributor itself comprises a tank or reservoir 25 of which fig.I re-shows the front plate 72 partially removed in order to allow the view of the inner rollers or cylinders.
The motor shaft of the distributor is represented by 53. The driving pulley is 64 and at its ends are found one by '} :, the pulley 65 controlling by the belt 66 the pulley 67 wedged on the shaft 33 carrying the drum toothed distributor 30 which will be discussed later, on the other hand the pulley 52 controlling by the

belt 55 see fig. 2, a pulley 54 integral with a clutch sleeve 57 rotating idly on the shaft 52 and capable of pulling through the corresponding sleeve 58 the shaft 52 around which the spring is arranged clutch 56 and on which the pinion 51 is wedged.
The pinion 51 by the chain 50 drives the large pinion 49 on the shaft 32 which is internally wedged a carded cylinare 29. The opposite end of the shaft 32 carries a pinion meshing with a chain 68 wound on a corresponding pinion wedged on a shaft 31 carrying inside the distributor another carded cylinder 28 rotating in the same direction as the cylinder 29 from which it removes the quantity of excess tobacco.
The interior of the dispenser further comprises the sheets 26 and 27 intended to bring the tobacco onto the carded dispenser drum 29. To the sheet 26 is fixed a block or crosspiece 34 intended to support it.
On the front of the machine within reach of the worker is a lever 35, the operation of which has a double purpose. This lever 35 is operated in the vertical direction and has a slot 37 in which the fixed slide of a support 36 is placed.
The upper end of lever 35 is articulated at 38 to the arm 39 of a part 41 carrying at 44 a pawl 43 capable of engaging between the teeth of a ratchet wheel 45 and having the shaft 32 as its axis. ratchet wheel 45- is secured by means of a sleeve or nozzle rotating with the shaft 32, a wheel 46 on the periphery of which are engaged and fixed by means of a pressure screw cleats such as 47 whose side part 48 is profiled in the form of a cam. The cleats see fig. 7 and 8 have a groove of trapezoidal section engaging the corresponding projection of the periphery of the wheel 46.
This periphery of the wheel 46 comprises lateral recesses 71 allowing the engagement of the cleats on the wheel 46 on which they are slid and then fixed in the suitable places. A support 61 fixed to the tank 25 carries at its end the articula-

tion 60 of a clutch lever whose end 69 carries a fork embracing the sleeve 57 and whose opposite end carries at 63 a roller intended to come into contact with the faces 48 of the cleats such as 47, and thus engage or disengage the sleeve 58 depending on whether the roller 63 is out of or in contact with the face 48 of the cleats 47.
The second purpose of the lever 35 is to give a rotational movement by means of the rod 40 and the small crank arm corresponding to a shaft 12 on which are fixed arms 13 @ at the ends of which are suspended the rods 15 carrying the hinges 16 to which is fixed a cross member 17 having the ends forming slides are guided in the slides 70 of sheets or flanges 69 arranged laterally to the tank 25.
This cross member 17 guided by the slides 70 slides on a distributor plate 10 rigidly fixed to its upper part on the lateral ends of which are articulated in 23 the small angled lever arms 21 articulated in 22 on the tank 25 and the ends of which are articulated. controlled at 20 by uprights 19 fixed externally at 18 on the flanges 3 forming the cover of the machine. The cigarillo, cigars, dolls machine being in working order, the motor shaft 53 of the distributor actuated by the uoulie 64 rotates at an appropriate speed and is driven on the one hand by the pulley 65 and the belt-66, the pulley 67 which wedged on the shaft 33, thus drives the latter and the toothed drum 30, the teeth of which pass between the cards of the carded cylinder 29 for the moment at rest on the other hand by the pulley 53 and the belt 55, the pulley 54 integral with the clutch sleeve 57 rotating idle on the shaft 52 at this moment disengaged from the latter.

formed by the inner sheets 26 and 27 and the vat 25 of the distributor being supposed to be loaded with tobacco, the worker, pushing on the pedal 7 controlling the opening of the machine, will lift the cover 3 which will have the effect of seeing fig. 5, to pivot at 22 the lever 21 by the trin 19 and thus bring, given the traction exerted at 23, the distributor plate 10 forward above the rollers 8. At this time, it is necessary to bring the quantity of tobacco necessary for filling.
To this end, the worker will lift rod 35 upwards to the full stroke by her handle. This will result in a retrograde displacement of the pawl 43 on the ratchet wheel 45 .. While the latter has turned as well as the carded drum 28 thanks to the chain 68 bringing together their shaft 32 respectively 31, the tobacco which has followed the trajectory of the arrow a ;, has been torn from the cards of the drum 29 by the teeth of the cylinder 30 which is still rotating and launched on the distributor corridor IO from where it fell guided by the side plates 24 between the spindles 8 at a length corresponding to the distance between the ends of the side plates 24. therefore descend the arms 15 to which is suspended like a pendulum, the cross member 17 guided by small slides in the slides 70 see fig. 3 and 4.
This vertically suspended crossbar scrapes off the tobacco which could still remain on the sheet IO and presses it between the rollers 8. It should be noted that the slight movement of the lever 35 is not sufficient to move the pawl 43 back and cause the clutch. The tobacco being thus distributed between the spindles 8, the worker can introduce there or the tobacco leaves intended to form the cover or the toilet of the cigarillos, raise the pedal 7 and thus fold down the flanges 3 carrying the cylinders 9. By energizing the machine itself by its pedal, not shown, the spindles 8 and 9 will rotate, which will determine the manufacture of the cigarillos.
After the desired rotation time, opening the machine will reveal the manufactured cigarillos which, once removed, will allow the operations to be repeated as described above.
The quantity of tobacco discharged by the distributor will depend on the spacing given between the tabs 47 distributed at the periphery of the wheel 46. However, this quantity may be modified more or less and according to the nature and quality of the tobacco, by lifting or bringing the carded drums 28 and 29 closer together by adjusting the suspension bolts 76 of the bearings supporting the shaft 31 of the carded drum 28. It will even be possible in order to give more tobacco than one. side than the other to move the SI shaft bearings slightly relative to each other.
It results from what precedes the methodical admission of a quantity always the same for a type of manufacture of cigarillos, cigar, or poop and this in a very rapid manner.
