<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>
<Desc/Clms Page number 17>

figure 2.

Operating procedures and devices for absorption and intermittent refrigeration apparatus.
The present invention relates to improvements in absorption refrigerating apparatus and intermittent operation, and it relates more particularly to an operating method for such apparatus, and to means for the practice of this method. .
The operating method for similar apparatuses, in accordance with the invention, consists in rectifying the coolant vapor, released out of the absorption solution at a heating point, this rectification taking place at
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
using a concentrated solution not yet degassed, and to bring the absorption agent, precipitated in the rectifier, by its own weight, to the liquid body contained in the liquid system of the generator-absorber.
In apparatus provided with a balancing tank being added to the release and absorption points, the invention also involves the step of bringing the contents of the balancing tank, during the release period, exchanging heat with the vapors released from the boiler.
The apparatus for carrying out the above-mentioned methods comprises first of all a balancing tank, which is housed above the release point. It also has a storage container for concentrated absorption solution (not yet degassed), this container being disposed at a point higher than the point of release.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the evaporator is arranged above the condenser, and it is connected, by means of two conduits, first of all to the condenser and then to an appliance element which. vehicle of the absorption solution.
The invention is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figures 1, 2 and 3 each show a particular embodiment of the invention shown schematically.
In figure 1, 10 designates the boiler, 11 the condenser, 12 the evaporator, 13 the absorber of an intermittent-operating refrigerator device, An analyzer is designated by 14, a rectifier device by 15 and 16, a drip tray. balancing is designated by 17, and a collecting vessel by 18.

The boiler 10 is preferably crossed by a flue 19, which can be heated in a suitable known manner, for example by an electric heating device, a gas or oil burner, or alternatively by steam. water or lost heat. The boiler 10, in the exemplary embodiment shown, surrounds the flue 19 in the form of a narrow jacket, so that it is necessary to supply liquid only as small quantities as possible to the outlet. times, at the high temperature release.
The lower part of the flue 19 is surrounded, in the known manner, by a pumping coil 20, from which a circulation duct 21 leaves which ends in the steam chamber of the boiler. It will be assumed, purely by way of example, for the convenience of the invention, but without resulting in any limitation thereof, that the apparatus operates with water and ammonia and that its initial filling be carried out up to level 1. In practice, the apparatus is not completely filled up to this level, but the liquid conduits which connect the absorber and boiler, and which will be described below, must in all cases be full of liquid.
When the boiler is originally heated, liquid is raised, through the pumping coil 20, by the effect of the gas bubbles, so that the level of the liquid, in the analyzer 14, experiences a tendency to lower down to level 1a, while the level in the boiler is constrained to rise correspondingly to the same level 1a. The excess pressure which, as will be described below, settles in the boiler, however, opposes the liquid level in the boiler reaching plane 1a.
The release of steam caused by the subsequent supply of heat to the boiler causes, in the latter, a rise in temperature, so that the vapors of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
boiler pass through line 22 and rise in the form of bubbles through the liquid housed in small auxiliary tank 23, when they pass through analyzer 14 where the vapor from the boiler expels refrigerant vapor out of the concentrated solution collected there.
From analyzer 14 the already partially dried vapor passes through conduit 24, which is slightly inclined to facilitate the return of water droplets which have separated from the steam, this surrounding conduit 24 in the form of a jacket of the rectifying element 15 of the liquid heat exchanger (in which the vapor continues to be dried by cooling); the vapor going thence into the relatively narrow duct 25 which at its lower end opens in a U-shape into the vertical pipe 26. The pressure which rises in the boiler forces the liquid into the narrow duct 25 , from top to bottom, so that the liquid, in the rising pipe 26, is set for example at level 1b shown.
When the pressure in the boiler has risen sufficiently, steam flows through the liquid to the riser pipe 26, and it continues to be dried on the baffle plates 27 and 28 arranged in this vertical pipe 26. From the upper part of the vertical pipe 26, steam from the boiler flows into the condenser 11, of suitable shape and cooled, for example, by cooling fins; from there the condensate flows into the cased jacket 29, where it cools, in the known manner, the baffle plates 28 of the riser pipe 26.
The condensate, which collects in the annular space of the jacket 29, is discharged, by the pressure of the boiler which continues to rise, towards the duct 30 which extends from the lower part of the jacket. 29, and the condensate thus rises to evaporator 12, where it accumulates.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The weak degassed solution in the boiler flows through a conduit 31 which, in the illustrated embodiment, passes through the lower part of the liquid of the analyzer 14, and surrounds, in the form of a coil, the upper part of this analyzer 14 filled with gas. However, this path determined for the weak solution is not essential, since it may be advantageous to establish the lower part of the analyzer 14 so that it is narrow enough to contain only small quantities of liquid, the desired heat exchange then taking place in any other appropriate manner.
The conduit 31 for the weak solution is then brought, through the rectifier 15; inside a conduit 32 for the concentrated solution, in such a way that a triple heat exchange takes place in the rectifier, that is to say between the steam and the concentrated and weak solutions. From the rectifier 15 the conduit 31 for the weak solution passes inside the heat exchanger 33, from where it is brought at 34 to the lower part of the absorber 13.
The absorber can be cooled in any suitable known manner, for example by cooling fins, and it can receive any suitable construction.
The pressure exerted by the steam of the boiler has the effect of pushing the solution from the bottom upwards in the rising pipe 36 which is connected to the pipe 34. In this pipe 36 the liquid consequently rises and thus fills the collecting vessel 18. who is willing to do so; then the liquid continues to rise in the section of conduit 36 starting from the top of 18.
The ascent of the liquid in the conduit 36 continues until said liquid reaches a level high enough above the level in the boiler so that the sum of the small columns of liquid in the receptacle 23 of the boiler column. liquid, in the ascending pipe 26, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the condensate pressure column in line 30, taking into account the specific weights of the constituents of these columns, has the same length as the liquid column of the absorption solution in line 36.
When the device is started up, the column in the duct 36 rises, for example, up to level 1b. The liquid necessary to fill the preferably narrow conduit 36 and the collecting vessel 18, is obtained first of all by a corresponding reduction of this quantity of liquid in the analyzer 14. As the liquid level. In the boiler, due to the action exerted by the pumping device 20, is located above the level in the absorber, the liquid in the absorber tends to flow back through a duct 35 starting from the upper part of the absorber, then to go, through the outer tube of the heat exchanger 33 and the conduit 32, to the analyzer 14, and thence into the boiler 10.
In particular, as there is in the analyzer 14 a pressure which due to the small columns of liquid in the vessel 23 is lower than the actual pressure in the boiler, corresponding to the pressure of these liquid columns and to the resistance to flow in these conduits, of the concentrated solution is constrained to flow from the top of the absorber, through conduits 35 and 32, into analyzer 14, where said The solution flows over baffle trays 38 of a known type, countercurrent with the steam, to the lower part of the analyzer, and thereby dries or rectifies the steam from the boiler. From the analyzer 14, the concentrated solution flows, through a conduit 61, to the pumping device 20.
Variations in level in the container 23 cause, in practice, the level in the boiler to rise correspondingly; so that if, as is possible, the liquid in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
container 23 is driven out, thus ensuring an equilibrium
10 free of pressure between the boiler / and the analyzer 14, a reflux of concentrated solution should occur towards the analyzer 14.
The quantity of absorption solution which circulates between the boiler and the absorber is reduced by the quantity of condensate which is gradually collected, during the heating period, in the evaporator 12. As the absorber 13 is constantly cooled by the air, no vapor can form there. The quantity of liquid which circulates in the evaporator 12 thus gradually determines the emptying of the balancing tank 17 and a corresponding drop in the level of the liquid in the analyzer connected to this tank by a pipe 48 and a discharge pipe. gas 49, the liquid level thus lowering to Ic. It is obvious that the balancing tank 17 can, if desired, be connected to the analyzer 14 and form with the latter a single container.
When the level drops normally, in the balancing tank 17 and in the analyzer 14, to the plane 1c, the evaporator 12 then being filled with condensate, a thermostatic device. turns off the heating of the boiler. And here is the more complete description of this thermostatic device: From the gas chamber of the boiler leaves a conduit 39 which opens into a receptacle 40, of cylindrical shape for example, in which is engaged, in the known manner , a thermostatic feeler, 41. However, this construction is not essential. From the container 40 leaves a vapor duct 42, which preferably comprises a U-shaped section 43 and which opens into the analyzer 14.
The feeler or contact member 41 of the thermostat is connected, by the usual pressure pipe 44, to a bellows 45 or to any other similar device which regulates, by a needle rod 46 for example, a gas valve 47 in a gas pipe.
A more detailed construction of the thermostat, its components
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
It is not necessary to describe here, and in its preferred form, such thermostatic devices are well known in the art. As long as the level of the liquid, in the balancing tank 17 of the analyzer 40, is above the plane 1c, the passage for the vapor of the boiler, through the analyzer, is closed by the liquid in the duct 42 and in the U-shaped stopper 43, so that the vapors cannot flow through the duct 39 towards the cylindrical container 40, and the feeler member 41 of the thermostat remains unheated.
When, however, the liquid, in the analyzer 14, drops below level 1c, the liquid stopper 43 breaks, and the vapors from the boiler also flow through the conduit 39 to the container 40, and through line 49 to analyzer 14. As a result, thermostat 41 is quickly and sharply heated, and gas valve 47 is by the way closed.
The cooling-off period then begins.
The cooling of the then unheated boiler 10, the conduits 22 and 42 of the analyzer 14 and the steam conduit 24 which surrounds the rectifier 15, results in a reduction in the pressure in the boiler system.
The columns of liquid, produced by the previously high boiler pressure, in conduits 30, 26 and 36 lower accordingly. The condensate which descends in the line 30 is collected in the cooling jacket 29. The column of liquid which descends in the vertical pipe 26 rises correspondingly in the narrow duct 25. A certain amount of weak solution , corresponding to the quantities of liquid which are in the conduit 36 and in the container 18, flows, due to the fall of said columns of liquid, and first passes through the conduit 35 and the outer tube from the heat exchanger, to go to the analyzer 14, where the liquid
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
of flows on the plates 38.
This relatively cold amount of weak liquid which is cooled in absorber 13, now passing through analyzer 14, results in a very rapid absorption of gas passing through the analyzer, so that the low pressure in the system, which up to then was at high pressure, is found very quickly and substantially reduced. As this cold weak liquid passes through the analyzer 14, the pressure drops so rapidly that within minutes, the removal of heating resulting from the pressure reduction, the refrigerant vapor flowing through. now forms in evaporator 12 at a relatively high pressure relative to the remainder of the system, flows through conduit 36 to the absorber where it is absorbed.
The collection of the solution in line 36 and in collecting vessel 18 therefore determines, when heat input ceases, a very rapid reduction in pressure in analyzer 14, as the liquid present on trays 38 is very rapidly renewed, which has the effect that this liquid cannot lose its absorption capacity due to the thin liquid layer of concentrated solution which otherwise forms on these trays. The thin layer of liquid is destroyed by the solution flowing from container 18. The return of liquid from line 36 and collecting container 18 determines a rise in level in balancing tank 17 and in Analyze 14, the level rising to approximately 11a.
As indicated in the exemplary embodiment, line 36 is connected to line 34 which supplies weak solution from the boiler to the absorber. The gas, rising in 1a short branch of pipe 34, exerts a suction effect on the remainder of the solution present in the boiler, and the level of which gradually drops, for example to plane 11a where the concentrated solution in
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
the absorber continues to pass through line 35 to the analyzer 14. During the absorption period, therefore, there also occurs in part a circulation of the absorption solution from the boiler to the tank. absorber, which results from the pumping effect due to the incoming gas coming from the evaporator and which flows through the duct 36.
Evaporation of the refrigerant and condensate, in evaporator 12, continues until all of the refrigerant is substantially evaporated in evaporator 12. The equivalent of the amount of liquid in the evaporator must again flow out of it to the absorber system; and, moreover, the analyzer 14 is gradually filled, by a suction effect or the effect of the excess pressure of the evaporator, with liquid which has concentrated and which comes from the. absorber 13; this until, the cooling period having ended, the level in the analyzer and in the balancing tank 17 has reached the plane 11b, which ensures the refill of the container 23.
The low pressure in the analyzer 14, on the other hand, determines the suction of liquid from the line 26 through the U-tube 25 in a corresponding amount, so that the level in the riser pipe 26 drops substantially to. 'in plan 11a. Consequently, the quantities of liquid in the riser pipe 25 which may collect there during charging and which are superfluous for the actual operation, are drained through the conduit 15 to the analyzer 14.
As soon as the condensate, in the evaporator 12, is completely or more or less completely evaporated +, so that. small amounts of entrained absorption remain behind in the evaporator, despite analyzer 14 and the two rectifiers 15 and 16, the temperature in the evaporator rises; and this temperature rise is transmitted by means of a second thermostatic device of suitable known construction, placed for example on the evaporator.
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
teur, the transmission being effected by a bellows 50 and a needle valve 51 to a second valve 52 disposed in the gaseous fuel line. The adjustment begins with raising the low temperature, causing the second valve 52 to open in the gas line.
As during the whole of the cooling period, no further quantities of steam coming from the boiler flow, through the duct 39, the element or the sensor element 41 of the thermostat has, during this time, cooled and, accordingly, reopened the first valve 47 in the gas conduit; so that now both valves 47 and 52, in this conduit, are open, and heating is again re-established by the usual pilot flame.
The valve 47, when the boiling period is over, suddenly closed, when the level in the balancing tank 27 has been lowered; and furthermore this valve remains closed, due to the isolation of the container 40, as well as the thermostat 41, until, for example five minutes later, the cooling period begins, in other words that in turn valve 52 closes and no heat input is possible to the device. After a fairly short time, the thermostat 41 opens the valve 47, while the valve 52 remains closed throughout the period of cold transmission.
It is only when the production of cold decreases and the cooling temperature set by the second rises (thermostat) that the valve 52 opens and again determines the arrival of heat in the apparatus. it goes without saying that instead of the schematically represented gas thermostat device, it is possible to use, with other sources of heat, corresponding construction devices and to use, for example, toggle switches which operate. electrically or any other analogues.
When heat is again brought to the appliance, the process which took place during the first supply
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
of heat itself repeated again. The main difference lies in the fact that the level of the boiler, during the periodic operation at the start of the boiling period, is somewhat lower and is found for example according to plan 11a, and that the quantity of liquid in the vertical pipe 26 is less than it was at the beginning, the liquid in this rising pipe 26 only then rising to level III.
the vapor pressure in the boiler, during the usual operating period, therefore only has to form the low-rise liquid column in the vessel 23, and the short liquid column III in the riser 26, as well as the condensate column 30. The column of liquid in line 36 which balances it, is reduced by a corresponding amount, and therefore only rises, for example, to level III.
In the embodiment shown, evaporator 12 is constructed as a self-purging evaporator. it can be arranged so as to be slightly inclined, and is provided with a duct forming a drain 53, which opens into the container 37 mentioned above.
This construction allows that, after the first boiling period, quantities of absorption agent remaining in the evaporator 12 accumulate at the mouth of the duct 53.
When, during the subsequent boiling periods, new quantities of condensate enter evaporator 12, the residue of absorption agent will be discharged out of the evaporator 12, through line 53, into the vessel. 37 from where it will return, through conduit 36, into the absorber. To relieve the pressure in the container 37, the latter is connected, by a gas line 54, to the upper part of the evaporator. The evaporator shown is also established as a continuous cold transmitter.
For this purpose, the evaporator 12 is provided with a container for-
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
mantle 55, which is connected by a conduit 56 to a container 57. The container 57 contains a dried or solid absorption agent, in which is dissolved a secondary cooling agent. The container 57 is provided with two systems 58 and 59 evaporator and condenser. The two systems 58 and 59 are partially charged with a vaporizable liquid. The heat of absorption which periodically develops in the condenser 57, is transmitted through the system 59, in a known manner, to the outside air, while the cold which occurs in the condenser 57 during Cooling periods is used, by the system 58, as useful cold, for example to cool the atmosphere in the freezer cabinet, or for the production of ice.
In the cooling jacket 55 which surrounds the evaporator, there is also disposed, at its base, an evaporator-condenser system 60 partially loaded with a vaporizable liquid capable of transmitting useful cold. During periods of cooling, when low temperature cold is produced in evaporator 12, coolant is sucked out of the absorbent in container 57 and is condensed in. the container 55 by the evaporator 12 and accumulates at the bottom of this container. The cold produced by the evaporation of the secondary cooling agent in the container 57 is made useful or available by the system 58.
During the periods of boiling of the apparatus, when no cold is produced in the evaporator 12, the condensate of the secondary cooling agent and which is trapped at the bottom of the container 65 is again sucked by the absorption agent in the container 57, through the conduit 56 and the cold produced by the evaporation of the secondary cooling agent is used as useful cold, by the system 60.
It should be noted that the evaporator and all other vessels shown can, if desired, be
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
established in any way other than that shown, without the scope of the invention being altered. In addition, the other elements of the apparatus can be arranged with respect to each other in any other suitable position. Thus, for example, the condenser can be placed above the evaporator, on condition that care is taken to place the communication conduits in a suitable manner, so that the liquid columns necessary for operation are formed and are maintained.
In Figure 2, there is shown another embodiment of the invention, the same reference numerals designating the same elements as in Figure 1. The bpuilleur 10, which comprises a flue 18, is supplied with sol- lution concentrated by the pump 20 and the riser pipe 21, said solution being heated in the boiler and returned to the lower part of a container 74, through a conduit 31, a temperature exchanger 33 and a conduit 34. From the part top of this receptacle 74, the concentrated solution returns, through conduit 35, heat exchanger 33 and conduit 61, to pump 20.
In this embodiment, the boiler 10 is provided with an ascending pipe 62, and preferably inclined, / into which opens a pipe 64 coming from the balancing tank 17 to which it is connected, preferably. by a U-shaped duct 63 forming a liquid plug. To the inclined pipe 62 is connected a vertical pipe 65, the upper part of which forms a rectifier 16. The latter is also provided with a jacket -envelope 28 and comprises trays - interior baffles 28.
It will be assumed that the apparatus, before being put into operation, is charged up to level I with an aqueous solution of ammonia. The release of gas in the pump 20 as in the boiler 10, when a heat supply is assured, determines the rise of a vapor stream through the cold liquid in the risers 62 and 65
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
into the separator 16. The vertical duct 65 is provided, inside the separator 16, with an orifice 66 to which the condenser 11 is connected. The vapor which rises through the riser pipe 65 flows out. to the condenser 11 where condensation occurs.
The condenser 11 is arranged in such a way that it tilts from bottom to top, so that the condensate which forms there returns towards the jacket 29, From this jacket,., The condensate, as has been described higher, is raised through the conduit 30 provided with a U-shaped liquid plug 67, towards the evaporator 12. This ascent is preferably carried out through another U-shaped liquid plug 68,70. The evaporator is constructed in a manner similar to that shown in Figure 1, i.e. it is connected to an overflow tank 37, by a liquid pipe 53 and a pressure balancing pipe 54.
This tank 37 is also connected, as in the example of FIG. 1, to the conduit 36 which opens, through the intermediate container 18 and a liquid plug 71, either in the conduit 34 for the weak solution, or, as this is shown, in the container 74 itself. A conduit 69 starts from the upper part of the condenser 11 and immerses in the liquid contained in the receptacle 18, and is preferably provided in known manner, below the level of the liquid, with an orifice of. ciraulation 72.
The excess pressure, which is formed in the condenser by the vapor given off from the boiler, has the effect of pushing back the weak solution, to return it through line 31 into receptacle 74, so that, in the upper part of duct 36 which rises from duct 18, liquid columns rise again to a height which corresponds to the discharge of the condensate in duct 30.
As the absorption solution is heavier than the condensate, the level in the duct
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
36 with its current length is less than the condensate column in line 30 and rises for example up to plane 1a, In line 69 the liquid remains, during the increase in pressure in the boiler-condenser, substantially at its original height, since the receptacle 18 is in communication with the boiler, firstly through the condenser filled with gas and, on the other hand, through the receptacle 74 filled with liquid. As the heating continues as well as the boiling of the liquid solution, the liquid contained in the generator-absorber system is progressively reduced by the quantity of condensate collected in the evaporator 12.
The level in the riser pipe 65 must consequently drop, so that a corresponding quantity of cold solution immediately flows from the equilibrate tank 17, through the pipe 63, 64 in the riser pipe 62, in center-current with the vapors of the boiler which rise in the latter and which are consequently rectified. Z. For this purpose, the upper part of the balancing tank 17 is connected, by a duct 73, to the vapor chamber of the rectifier 16 or to the condenser.
When the heating has continued long enough for the evaporator 12 to be filled with condensate and for the balancing tank 17 to be empty, the heating of the boiler is interrupted, preferably using a thermostatic device; and the absorption period can begin.
The liquid levels are then for example according to the planes designated by II. Since the condenser gives up more heat, the formation of a low pressure in the condenser takes place immediately; so that not only the liquid columns are lowered but liquid is actually sucked into the condenser. conduit 69 and towards the condenser 11 under the effect of the suction which occurs from the latter. When this cold solution enters the condenser 11, there is an absorption of vapor in the condenser.

above, and the low pressure above the level in the boiler is significantly increased. The condensate column in line 30 lowers; but, by virtue of the two liquid plugs 70 and 67, the direct entry of evaporator gas into the condenser-absorber 11 is prevented.
The excess pressure of the evaporator relative to the condenser also causes the liquid to flow back into the U-shaped stopper 71 of the duct 36, until the contents of the receptacle 18 up to the level of the orifice 72 empties into the condenser 11. At this moment, a brief pressure balancing takes place between the condenser-absorber 11 and the evaporator 12 which determines an ascent of solution from the receptacle 74 into the U-tube 71, 36 into the container 18.
This solution which circulates in this way is immediately lifted by the evaporator gas in line 69, towards the condenser 11, where absorption occurs thanks to the cooling fins, which maintains a low pressure in the condenser, and thereby the relative excess of pressure of the evaporator, which is produced by the circulation of the liquid through the ascending duct 69. The suction of the absorption solution into the condenser 11 filled with gas offers here other advantages. The effect of the low pressure occurs very quickly and is constantly maintained, as thin layers which prevent aspiration can form on the upper surface of the constantly circulating liquid.
Further advantages of this device result from the fact that the cooling fins of the condenser 11 remove the heat of absorption during the absorption period, and that all of the absorption solution comes into contact with the gas. of the evaporator in continuous circulation.
In Figure 3 there is shown yet another embodiment of the invention. The reference numerals have the same meaning as in the example of

FIG. 2. The embodiment of FIG. 3 differs from that of FIG. 2 only in that the condenser-absorber 11 of FIG. 2 is subdivided into two receptacles. The rising pipe 62 is here arranged horizontally, and the balancing tank 17 is itself arranged vertically. The gas released from the boiler 10 flows through the pipes 62 and 65 towards the condenser 11, which is provided cooling fins, and from where the condensate flows through the liquid plug 67 and the riser 30 into the U-tube 68, 70, and from there to the evaporator 12.
The evaporator 12, in this embodiment, is provided with an extension 75 in which the U-shaped liquid plug 68.70 is housed, in order to keep the liquid in this constantly cold plug 68.70, and to therefore prevent any circulation of condensate. The formation of gas bubbles by heat input which would cause the liquid column to rupture in line 30 cannot take place under similar conditions.
The circulation of liquid through the circulation orifice 72 in the conduit 18 has already been described with reference to FIG. 2; it occurs, in the embodiment of Fig. 3, to a separate absorber 76 which is preferably disposed parallel to the condenser 11 and can be cooled by the same cooling fins 77 as the condenser. The absorption which occurs in absorber 76 determines an enrichment of the solution, which after being enriched circulates through the U-plug 78 to the riser 65. The system for circulating the absorption solution is activated. thus finds complete.
The weak solution from the absorber rises through line 36 into vessel 18, from where it passes into line 69, into absorber 76 and from there through the liquid plug. 78, in the boiler. In

In this embodiment, during the absorption period all of the absorption solution contained in the apparatus is therefore completely saturated. The evaporator, in this embodiment, is established as a self-purging evaporator, and is provided internally with trays 79 'which determine a gradual discharge of the absorption agent residues towards the evaporator. the bleed pipe 36.
