<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

CLOCKS OR ELECTRICAL CLOCKS
The present invention relates to a. .electric clockwork movement which may include a warning signal, and which operates under the voltage of the electric comrant distribution networks. It has long been known that these movements can be used as a ccntactor, the triggering movement of the warning system, in conjunction with the actual clockwork movement; which could cause the closing of a lighting circuit. This circuit can be limited, for example, to a lamp forming part of the apparatus.

or tubes. This way of constituting the formatters has the great advantage of being very economical. As experience shows, so-called transformers only give rise to very low losses.
The invention also relates to a new method of constructing the motor, this motor with offset rings being very compact and, like the transformer, very easy to produce. This motor is constituted by a magnetic carcass formed of sheets joined together 'end on flat by a cylindrical means supporting the excitation coil. At the free ends of the sheets are placed two pole masses with offset rings between which rotate the rotor which is supported by two lugs integral with a part fixed to said sheets.
The invention is also aimed at improvements to the systems for connecting the various electrical components of the time measuring apparatus. This device may include ... in addition:, the asynchronous type motor intended to ensure the permanence of its movement; a synchronous motor so as to benefit from the regularization of the network frequency.
This synchronous actor can be put in relation with an index or a hand moving visibly on the dial. The index can be constituted by a reference line situated on a diqque forming a rotating dial in relation with the synchronous motor. The difference which may occur between the index and the time indication given by the device shows the corrective value to be applied to this indication and allows the time to be reset by manual action.
The synchronous motor and the asynchronous motor, of any type, can be made so as to use only one excitation winding, the magnetic circuits or the magnetic casings of the two motors being able to have an oom- part. mune They can form a single mechanical and electrical assembly.
The flux actuating the synchronous motor can be generated by a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
independent magnetic circuit, in this case the field coil of this motor is placed in series or in bypass on the coil of the asynchronous motor, this coil preferably being supplied by the transformer lowering the network voltage.
The invention is finally aimed at various characteristics which will emerge from the description which follows. These characteristics relate in particular to the iodine of illumination, the single light source of the dial of the apparatus, as well as to the device ensuring in due time the triggering of the warning system.
In this description, relating to various embodiments of the subject of the invention given simply by way of example, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which show:

The tubes can be split along a generator to avoid eddy currents. The carcass is forced by two cap cylinders (11) and (12) which fit on top of each other. This arrangement allows a very low reluctance seal to be obtained. The discs (13) and (14) facilitate the development of the flow passing through the middle tube.
Obviously, if the core consisted of more than two tubes, it would be easy to generalize the process and use as many disks as there would be tubes inside the first one. The support ($ 1), soft iron, contributes to the development of the flow passing through the central cylinder (or tube).
In the variant construction of the transformer shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the central core consists, as before, of one or more tubes 13 surrounding a core, said tubes being able to be split along a generator. furthermore comprises a reinforcement 16 formed by one or more plates bent on flat and whose bent parts rest on the = end aces of the tubes arranged perpendicular to the plane of the plates or receiving in a suitable recess the ends of the core or of the tubes. tubes. This armature can constitute a double magnetic circuit as shown in fig. 3 and 4; it is then advantageously constituted by a tube fraction.
In the case where several sheets are used, they can be placed, thickness upon thickness, in complete superposition or in angular offset with respect to the axis of symmetry ..'-. contact 45 tooth movement is dependent on the clockwork mechanism.
This arrangement makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of the coil 42 of the warning signal and consequently to reduce the dimensions of. different elements entering into the composition of this sugnal.
An impedance 46 is shunted across the warning signal terminals. At the moment when the warning signal enters into action the shaker 43 releases the contactor 47, the latter closes the contact 48 under the eifet of the spring 49 and puts the impedance 46 in circuit.
The shaker 43 continues to operate until the opening of the contact 45 which occurs a determined time after the triggering of the warning system placed under the control of the clock mechanism.
When contact 45 opens, the warning signal stops, but the lamp 44 remains on. The lamps are extinguished manually by arming the contactor system 47.
The coil 46 can be placed on the magnetic circuit of the motor system, as an independent electric circuit or as an electric circuit common with that of the motor system.
It is obvious that the contactor system 47 as shown in figure 9 can be replaced by any other contactor, the current flowing in the coil 42 can for example be used to actuate a separate relay whose coil would be placed. in series with coil 42.
The contactor system 47 or the relay replacing it can be used as manual switches together with the lighting of the lamp 44, apart from the dependence of the clockwork mechanism by releasing the contactor 47 according to a suitable device, for example. by pressure on the pallet 43.

maintaining the permanence of the exact time in. ' using the frequency, kept constant, distribution networks, tinn, the group 'comprises an asynchronous winding motor and a. synchronous motor serving to achieve this permanent This system.
. comprises a Ferraris disc 51 of which the rotating axle 52 causes the winding of the movement spring by means of a gear train of which the wheel 53 is the first element.
The disc is operated, by the., Flow, part of which is shifted .; which circulates in a magnetic circuit comprising the carcass, 54 formed, in the example shown, by a single bent plate and by cores 55 and 56. This circuit is energized by the coil 57 which surrounds the core 55.
The carcass 54, supports two frames 58 and 59 having pole masses 60 and 61. A disc 62 placed between the pole masses forms a rotor / synchronous motor. Its speed of rotation is a function of the network frequency and depends only on the number of notches 63. The movement of the rotor 62 is transmitted by an appropriate reduction to the dough 64 (fig, 13 and 14) which meshes with a ring 65 crazy rise moreover on the barrel of the minute hand by the intermediary of a transparent disc 66.This device bears a reference line 67, Turn a given frequency, the disc 66 and, consequently, the reference line 67 do one tour in an hour.
When switching on and setting the time, the knurled button 68 is acted on so as to bring the mark 67 opposite (the minute hand 69, moving in front of the dial 70. During operation, the difference 71 represents the element of correction to be made in the indication of the time.
A variant of the synchronization mode consists in providing the rotor of the synchronous motor with poles attracting a magnetic bar with two poles for example and in making act the alternating force created by these poles on the pendulum or the balance provided with this. effect of attractive masses.
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
This result is achieved, for example, by rotating (see dotted part of fig. 12) the above-mentioned magnetic bar 72 in a magnetic casing 73 which also has a second air gap in which the magnetic mass moves. integral with the pendulum or the pendulum 74.It is obvious that the speed of rotation of the bar and the number of beats of the penuule or pendulum must be in the desired ratio.
Fig. 15 represents a triggering device ensuring in a very simple way the following operations which are found on the various warning signal time measuring devices: establishment of a contact at a determined instant of the day, limitation to a given value of the duration a warning signal, optional interruption a warning signal during its operation, finally re-establishment of the positions with a view to the later resumption of the cycle.
This device uses the cam wheel 76 ordinarily provided in mechanical alarm clocks. At the moment of triggering, this wheel receives a translational movement 77 and actuates the lever 79 by means of the caliper 78. The end 80 of the lever 79 then makes bend the blades 81 and 82 in the direction of the arrow 83. The blade 81 being more flexible than the blade 82, this movement first causes the closing of the contact 84, and, consequently, the operation of the warning system to which the wires 85 and 86 are found connected.
The rocking movement 83 then causes the insertion of the point 87 into the teeth of a wheel 88 integral with the clockwork movement. This wheel drives the point 87 in its movement, the system of the blades 81. -82 is articulated for this purpose around the axis 89.It follows that the stop 81 runs through the sector 80; when this stop arrives to the right of the face 92, the blades 81 and 82 seretendent; the contact 84 is then broken and the tip 87 comes off the teeth.
