TRANSMISSION HYDRAULIQUE.
Conformément à l'invention, on utilise
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
pression dans les cylindres 27 à travers les canaux 25-26, ce liquide déplaçant dans l'une ou l'autre direction les pistons disposés dans ces cylindres .Ces pistons sont munis de crémaillères 28 qui transmettent, par l'interméeliaire des pignons 29, leur mouvement;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSION.
The present invention relates to a hydraulic transmission with divided power transmission, consisting of a pump and a motor and an adjustable eccentric, and in which special devices for adjusting the power distribution allow high efficiency and high operational safety without the construction becoming more complicated and expensive. According to the invention, one uses
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
for the adjustment of the transmission a servo-motor which rotates with the driven shaft and which controls the displacement of the eccentric of the pump or of the hydraulic motor, this servo-motor preferably being actuated automatically by the pressure of the transmission.
The eccentric can be placed directly on the driven shaft and be controlled by a piston moving in a bore formed in the driven shaft; the size of the transmission is then very small and the control thereof can take place strictly according to the torque required at any time. If, for example, it is the hydraulic motor which is provided with the adjustable eccentric, the power of this motor can vary between zero and its maximum value.
As soon as the hydraulic motor receives no power, it is locked and transmission takes place only by the pump whose cylindrical housing and the eccentric shaft rotate together.
By way of example, two embodiments of a transmission according to the invention have been described below and shown in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows, in longitudinal section, a transmission in which the eccentric of the hydraulic motor is moved directly by the housing of the booster.
Fig. 2 represents the corresponding servomotor,
The freeze. 3 the adjustable eccentric.
Fig. 4 also shows, in longitudinal section, another embodiment in which the adjustment takes place by means of a piston sliding in a bore of the driven shaft.

Fig. 5 is a section on a larger scale by the eccentric and the corresponding control motor.
The rod 6 is a section through the line A-A of FIG. 5.
Lá fig. 7 is an elevation view and a partial section through line B-B of fig 5.
The transmission consists essentially of
EMI3.1
two systems / cylindresl '2j.:j coupled in a housing 4 and whose /), Jurq for example the cylinders of the pump] are integral with the shaft 2 of the drive motor and rotate with the latter, while the cylinders 3 of the hydraulic motor are rigidly fixed to the housing 4.
For the sake of simplicity, in the two embodiments only two cylinders have been shown for each of the two systems; in practical embodiments, three cylinders for the pump, for example, and five cylinders for the engine can be usefully chosen.
The operation of the transmission shown in Figs, 1 to 3 is as follows:
The liquid filled transmission is driven by the cylindrical housing 1 rigidly linked with the shaft 2 of the drive motor. In this way, the liquid which is constantly under pressure in the cylinder of the crankcase 1 is sent into the cylinder of the hydraulic motor 3.
7 through channel 5 of spool 6 and channel / of auxiliary spool 8. If the eccentric 9-10 is set to maximum, as shown in phantom in fig 3, it results on the driven shaft 11 a torque which is composed of that of the pump and that of the hydraulic motor.
Depending on whether the quantity of liquid
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
enters the engine is larger or smaller, the relative displacement of the eccentric 13 and the shaft 11 with respect to the crankcase 1 increases or decreases.
If the stroke of the hydraulic motor, that is to say the eccentricity of 9-10, is zero (fig. 1) the motor no longer absorbs liquid, that is to say that the liquid no longer circulates in the transmission. This liquid is, in this case, compressed in the pump, the pistons 12 of the pump remain fixed and the eccentric 13, as well as the shaft 11, rotate. the same speed as the cylindrical housing 1 if we neglect the losses due to the lack of sealing. The pump thus becomes a simple coupling. This direct drive operation can only be maintained as long as the torque applied to the driven shaft 11 is less than or equal to that of the drive motor. If the applied torque increases, so should the power supplied by the hydraulic motor.
Consequently, when the torque applied to the shaft 11 increases, the rotational speed of the latter decreases.
Conversely, for a sufficiently low value of the torque applied to the shaft 11, the speed of the transmission may be greater than that of the drive motor (fast running).
The displacement of the eccentric 9-10 takes place by means of the servomotor 14,15, the latter is supplied with liquid under pressure by the control spool 16 through the pressure line 5 and the line 18. The casing 14 rotates according to the value of'la pressure of the liquid, 'relative to the flap 15 which is rigidly connected with the shaft 11. In the housing 14 is formed a groove 38 serving to drive the ring 10' of the eccentric via the drive finger 17 which is integral with it. The auxiliary drawer 8
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
weasel in the same way so that the position of its channels match that of the eccentric 9-10.
If the pressure is reversed in the auxiliary motor-14-15, the movement of the auxiliary spool 8 also takes place in the opposite direction, thus causing the reverse gear.
The control spool 16 can be controlled automatically by means of an auxiliary piston actuated by the pressure of the pump. The transmission can thus be automatically adapted to the characteristics of the drive engine, which is particularly important for vehicles with combustion engine. On the pipe 18 subjected to the pressure of the pump liquid is arranged a valve 19 actuated by centrifugal force; this device takes into account the low value of the torque of the drive motor at low speeds by the fact that the valve then reduces the pressure in the pump.
An example of a transmission in which the control of the eccentric regulating the distribution of the forces, takes place by means of a piston sliding in a bore of the driven shaft, is shown in figs, 4 to 7.
On the driven shaft 11 is directly fixed the eccentric 20 regulating the stroke of the piston 21 of the hydraulic motor according to the distribution of the forces desired.
For this purpose, the shaft 11 is chamfered on two opposite sides so that it serves as a guide for the eccentric (fig. 6); this shaft is also provided with a drive member 22 penetrating into a corresponding recess provided on the eccentric, For the control of the latter, a piston 24 is used which can move in a bore 23 of the shaft led @ and which, depending on its position, allows the liquid to penetrate
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
pressure in the cylinders 27 through the channels 25-26, this liquid moving in one or the other direction the pistons arranged in these cylinders. These pistons are provided with racks 28 which transmit, through the intermediary of the pinions 29, their movement;
to the sleeve 20 of the eccentric. The piston 24 of the servomotor is actuated by the pressure of the fluid in the transmission, this fluid being taken, for example, at 30 and supplied to the inner end 32 of the axial bore; On the other hand, the piston 24 is securely connected by means of a drive finger 33 with the ring 34 which can move on the driven shaft and which is subjected to the pressure of a spring. 36 by means of a lever 35. The eccentric 20 is therefore controlled in such a way that the pressure of the liquid in the transmission remains approximately constant when the tension of the spring 36 itself remains constant.
The torque of the motor shaft is used in accordance with the value of this pressure with an automatic distribution of the power inside the transmission for any value of the rotational speed.
In order to fully utilize the torque of the drive motor, the device which is the subject of the invention is furthermore organized as follows: in the case, for example, where the drive motor The drive comprises a carburetor, the transmission is controlled by the constant tension of the spring 36 until the accelerator pedal is in the position corresponding to the maximum acceleration; when the accelerator pedal is actuated beyond said position, the position of the carburetor is not modified, but on the other hand
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
the spring tension is automatically increased so that the transmission control is further influenced so as to obtain full use of the engine torque.
This, for example, can be achieved by the fact that the lever 37 is driven from this position of the accelerator pedal through a stopper in a direction such that the spring tension is increased. .
