" Perfectionnements apportés. aux plaques chauffantes électri- ques"
Salon une disposition, proposée antérieurement par .la demanderesse,, on constitue, de préférence, une plaque chauf- tante ou réchaud. susceptible d'être chauffé à l'électricité, en ayant recours, essentiellement, à des. matières, céramiques et plus spécialement à de la porcelaine e sous forme d'un corps. creux;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Improvements made to electric heating plates"
Living room an arrangement, previously proposed by the applicant, is, preferably, a hotplate or stove. capable of being heated by electricity, essentially using. materials, ceramics and more especially porcelain in the form of a body. hollow;
in one piece and which surrounds the heating element at least from above and laterally whereas it can, if necessary, be closed from below by a cover or anale- * gue
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the heating plate constitutes, at the same time, the casing of the heating element and is in the form of an inverted basket, the bottom of which serves as a surface on which they are placed. objects or containers. As insulating material, for the heating body, which is preferably in the form of a spiral or grid, a layer of fillers is used.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
wise which act, at the same time, as a heat accumulator.
This layer of fillers can be made of any material having a sufficiently high heat capacity and conductivity such as, for example, sand or powdered porcelain. These materials can be ground more or less finely. In this way, the generation of internal stresses in the ceramic body of the heating plate and a sharp rise in temperature in the porcelain is effectively avoided.
Nevertheless, a uniformly homogeneous body was formed which is capable of absorbing large amounts of heat so that the cooling time is prolonged as far as possible and the device is suitable for its purpose of keeping food or the like hot. for very long periods.
In accordance with the invention, binders are added to the fillers which are suitable for transforming them into a solid mass. The heating element is therefore housed in the layer of filling materials contained in a cavity formed in the underside of the heating plate, said heating element having, according to the invention, the shape of a grid and being, more especially , made in a manner analogous to the band known as * SCHIEWINDT band The durai binder converts the fillers into a solid mass and thus makes them suitable for supporting and fixing, if necessary, the heating element in his home without the intervention of auxiliary means.
However, auxiliary projections can also be provided on the internal face of the heating plate and which serve for fixing other means for retaining the heating element. As such can be used, for example, pieces of porcelain or other ceramic material. The cavity, open at the bottom, is advantageously closed by a plate which is made of metal. The fixing of this closing plate can be. make using '@ thicker parts% of the dimension of the underside of the plate

that, these parts projecting inward.
The hotplate itself can, in the known manner, be arranged, by shape or by its decoration, so as to form part of a table service or a service. coffee and it may have, for example, a gold or silver trim.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example and schematically, a heating plate made in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in longitudinal section, a heating plate of oval shape, which does not include any filling materials and which is produced according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows, in an analogous manner, a heating plate with fillers also according to the invention.
Fig. 3 shows, in plan, a heating plate according to FIGS. 1 or 2 as well as the way in which the heating element or the heating grid is arranged.
As can be seen in the drawing, the heating plate has a shape resembling an inverted bowl W, inside which is provided a closable housing for the heating element H. This is formed, in accordance with the invention, by a heating grid which, for example and as visible in FIG. 3, leaves a free space M at its central part.
Such a heating grid is made in a manner analogous to the strip known from SCHNIEWINDT. Supporting or reinforcing ribs are unnecessary on the underside of the plate, since the thickness of the wall of the plate is unnecessary. ci is chosen relatively large. Advantageously one proceeds, then, as visible in FIG. 2, covering the body. heating H with a layer of fillers S in order to increase the mass of 1. heat accumulator.
This layer, consisting of sand or any other filling material is, according to the invention, impregnated with a binder so
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that finally a solid mass is obtained and that the filling material can thus escape, if necessary, by small gaps which could remain between the closing cover V, of which-question below -after, which closes the heating insulation housing and whose edges are maintained. To avoid heat radiation downwards, it is possible, if necessary, to place the heating element or the grid on a layer of asbestos A, the latter being suitably supported.
A cover can be used, advantageously a metal plate V, which at the same time closes the housing of the heating element and whose shape is adapted to said housing.
It may, however, happen that the asbestos layer, in case it is used, becomes wet for any reason and thus constitutes a conductive connection between the heating insulation itself and the blanking plate V so that the latter is under voltage. To avoid this inconvenience, one can have recourse to another plate P, for example of porcelain which is interposed between the starter layer A and the cover V. In this case the heating element is surrounded on all sides. of dense porcelain and this in such a way that harmful tensions cannot arise in any place.
In accordance with the invention, nickel is proposed as the metal as being particularly suitable for the constitution of the shut-off cover V. The fixing of this nickel plate can take place by means of projections D provided on the heating plate, being provided for on the internal f? ce of the lateral edge thereof. It is understood that this fixing can take place in any suitable manner. The shape of the heating grid, in the event that such projections are provided, is advantageously adapted exactly to the shape of the cavity constituting the housing of the heating element.
