<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

EMI1.1
"Terfeotionation to the devices of trenumioeîon da po.issanse by courroieau ,, '
This invention relates to power transmission devices and relates more particularly to belt transmissions in which the tensioning of the belt is effected automatically during service.
In the known belt transmission of this type, the transmission pulley is carried by a floating frame which receives from a pinion mounted on the shaft of the pulley a rotational movement around the axis of a wheel. with external toothing which meshes with a pinion and forms with it the power transmission device.
The main object of the present invention is a belt transmission device of the aforementioned type which is established as a complete assembly in itself in this sense.
EMI1.2
that the transmission elements and the short 1 ¯ # tensioner
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
are housed inside the foal so that the appearance of the device presents a certain analogy with the usual pulley and does not occupy] more space,
The device according to the inventive includes a 'transmission pulley having an internal driving or receiving link with a receiving or driving element housed in this pulley and a support device,
which allows a displacement or a relative oscillating movement between said pulley and the motor or receiver element with a view to effecting an automatic tensioning of the belt during the operation of the device *
The invention further includes various construction features which will be described below.
The device according to the invention can play the combined roles of a gear changing device, a belt tensioner and a shock absorber and can be established as an accessory which can be mounted at will on a shaft. motor or a drive shaft.
An embodiment of the present device is shown. Té by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of one of these embodiments.
Figure 2 is a corresponding side view.
Dan, s Figures 1 and 2, a sleeve 1 is fixed 'on a support shaft 2 by a key 7 or equivalent member.
This sleeve is provided with a collar 3 at one of its ends and a threaded retréoie part 4, constituting a shoulder.
5, at the opposite end. A spur gear 6 is rigidly fixed to the sleeve 1 by a suitable key 8. Eccentric collars 9 and 10 are mounted loosely on the sleeve 1, rightly. on either side of pinion 6, so as to rotate freely on this sleeve. The outer circular edges of these cellars serve as bearings for an Internal 11 toothed wheel.
The internal toothed wheel 11 consists of a drum
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
barrel or cylindrical pulley 14 provided with internal teeth 19 and the onferential wax surface of which has fallen slightly to form a rim 15 suitable for supporting a belt.
This pulley 14 is mounted loose on the 0 alloys 9.10 using internal flanges 16 which can rest on the external air .. oulairee edges of the collars. Pads 18 in anti-friction material are provided between the exo-very xxxxxxxxxx collars and the bearing flanges 16.
The toothing 19 of the wheel is arranged between the flanges 16 and meshed with the toothing of the pinion 6. The latter is provided with suitable bosses 20 which are in contact with the bosses 21 of the collars so as to ensure the necessary clearance between the teeth. and the supporting edges 16.
In this example, the internal toothed wheel 11 is hollowed out at each of its ends to respectively receive eccentric plates 22 and 22 'mounted idly on the sleeve 1.
A washer 23 is strongly pressed against the shoulder 5 by a nut 24.
Holes 27,27 'are provided in the cellar 10 and the eccentric plate 22 to introduce lubricant into a chamber 26. These holes are closed by a plug 28 screwed into the threaded hole 27' of the plate 22. As the collars exoentrants 9, 10 and the eccentric plates 22,22 'constitute, in fact, lever arms whose effective languor goes from the center of the wheel 11 with internal teeth to the center of the pinion 6, the holes of the collar 10 and of the plate 22 will remain in line. Nut 24 effectively holds all of the parts together.
This device can be used at will on motor shafts or on feedback shafts. In either case, when the commando is transmitted either to the toothed wheel or to the pinion, the resistance of the load has the effect of moving the wheel around the center of the pinion and, consequently, of ten - dre the belt. This movement continues until the belt tension has become sufficient to allow
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to the latter to bear the burden. The greater the displacement and the resulting tension of the belt, the greater the load. These devices thus constitute automatic tensioners.
This device is also a shock absorber, since, if the load increases sharply, a temple is needed. ble to allow the internal toothed wheel to move enough to tension the belt and that, during this time, the belt can slip slightly, thus absorbing the shock.
This device also constitutes a speed changing device, the speed being increased if this device is used on a receiving shaft and decreased if it is used on a driving shaft.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described / and shown by way of example.
CLAIMS. the-A power transmission device, comprising a pulley. belt connected internally to a motor or receiver axis by means of an annular toothing and freely supported on the peripheral edges of eccentrics mounted on this axis, these eccentrics being mounted freely, so that the pulley is capable of executing a movement oscillating, which automatically tightens the belt which transmits power from or to the pulley.
2.-Power transmission device relating to a belt pulley, which is connected internally by means of an annular toothing to a toothed pinion, mounted on a motor or receiver axis, and which is supported so as to be able to turn on a pair of 'eccentrics, freely mounted on the oité axis, one on each side of the pinion.
