<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Electro-magnetic pendulum".
The present invention relates to an electromagnetic pendulum, being particularly characterized by the fact that it is capable of functioning without requiring a rigorous plumbing and whatever the position in which it is placed.
The oscillations of the balance are obtained through the intervention of a pair of hollow coils, supplied in good time, and successively attracting in one direction and the other the foot of the balance, duly profiled and arranged for this purpose.
The oscillating movement of the balance is reflected by an alternating rotational movement of the axis of this balance. Which urges a toothed wheel through the intervention of a judicious pawl.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The advancement movements of the toothed wheel without three- put to the needles by means of a set of duly established gears. The aforementioned pawl pivot carries a rocker capable of alternately establishing and breaking the circuit of the aforementioned coils.
The amplitude of the oscillation of the balance is made variable by the intervention of an easily accessible lever, thus making it possible to easily adjust the operation of the electro-magnetic mechanism, which is the subject of this present invention. invention.
This mechanism is illustrated in detail in the accompanying figures in which:
Figure 1 is a side view of the fully assembled device; Figure 2 is a plan view of the mechanism, particularly showing the adjustment lever; Figures 3 and 4 are respectively an elevation view and a plan view of the balance; FIG. 5 is a view in elevation of the advancing device of the clockwork mechanism; FIG. 6 is the same view in elevation as in FIG. 5, but particularly showing the contactor device.
According to these figures, it appears that the electromagnetic device, according to the invention, substantially comprises the following elements.
The balance 1 is made up of a disc divided into four quarters, of which two, 2 and 3, diametrically opposed, are made of steel, while the other two, 4 and 5, are made of brass. This disc is capable of moving in two hollow coils 6 and 7 respectively, arranged in front and behind the pendulum mechanism, such that one of the sectors, 2 for example, is arranged in one of the sectors. coils, the other sector 3, direct-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
opposite, is arranged in the second coil.
This disc 1 comprises a central axis 8, substantially perpendicular to the plane of this disc and the two ends of which pivot in ruby screws 9 and IO, thus isolating the balance 1 from the frame of the mechanism.
Above, the axis 8 of the balance 1 carries a rod 11, intended simultaneously to actuate a roohet wheel 12 and to establish the electrical contacts required for supplying the coils 6 and 7. The actuation of the roohet wheel 12 is carried out by the intervention of a pawl 13, which is directly biased by le.tige 11 and capable, under this bias, of being moved around its pivot 14 and causing in a partial rotational movement the ratchet wheel 12.
On the same pivot 14 is disposed a tilting member 15, comprising a central notch 16, the two walls of which are formed one by an isolated element 17 and the other by a silver element 18.
As a result, one or the other of these walls being placed in contact with the conductor closing the circuit of the coils 6 and 7, xxxxxxx there will follow a rupture or a closing of the circuit of said coils and consequently a power supply of these and a corresponding attraction of the balance 1.
On the other hand, the return of the roohet wheel 12 is made impossible by the provision of a spring 19, comprising a latch 20 engaging the ratchet wheel 12 and thus preventing any return movement of the latter.
As for the rocker 15, it is maintained in the normal position with the intervention of a spring 21 oscillating permanently against the sanmet of this part. On the pawl 13 is fixed a spiral spring 22, the ferrule of which is integral with the frame 23 of the device. This spring 13 makes it possible to avoid the wise step of the current by the oiled pivots. The amplitude of the oscilla-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
tion of the schedule 1 is controllable by a leviar 24 disposed on the upper face of the mechanism frame, susceptible to rotate around the rod of the upper screw9 and thus the length of the spiral 25.
The position of lever 24 depends, therefore, on the duration.) Of the oscillation of balance 1.
It therefore follows that, the mechanism being thus arranged ;, it will suffice to connect the coils to the circuit of an electric source, a 25 volt battery, considering that the rocker 15 must be placed on one of the conductors.
Therefore, depending on the position of said rocker 15, the coils will be alternately supplied and isolated, which will determine the successive attraction and release of the balsacier, thus causing an oscillating movement, which has the effect of moving the ratchet wheel 12, using the rod 11 and the pawl 13.
It should also be noted that the pressure of the pawl 13 on the ratchet wheel 12 can be varied by modifying the pressure of the spiral spring 22 on said pawl 13.
This device will be. therefore animated by the same movement, such as the position of the mechanism and therefore excludes the need for the mechanism to be plumb).
It will therefore be possible to activate any clockwork movement according to the upstream movements required for the nor-male operation of these devices and without requiring any particular adjustment, nor a position duly established for the correct functioning of the device. di sp ositif.
It is also understood that the device could be produced with numerous constructional variants, without however departing from the substance of the present invention.
In fact, the combination of the various organs mentioned depends on the type of pendulum or movement [, to equip and also on the final result to be obtained, such for example
