Dust chamber for fire tube and marine boilers.
In installations of dust hearths for boilers, it has already been proposed to place the combustion chamber in the front part of the hearth tube. This arrangement, however, caused considerable difficulties, given that it was impossible to obtain complete combustion in the part of the fire-tube lined with a refractory lining and that there was slagging of the fuel. . According to the invention these drawbacks are avoided by a new construction and adaptation of the refractory lining of the hearth tube.
According to the invention, the fiberglass covering is arranged and constructed in such a way that it forms an air inlet channel with the wall of the hearth tube. This annular space communicates with the combustion chamber by lights, etc.

seated in the usual manner around the perimeter of the combustion chamber, and bringing the secondary air in a tangential direction.
The highly heated coating produces reheating of the secondary air but also releases heat by radiation through the air space to the walls of the hearth tube. Due to the helical movement of the fuel and the supply of secondary air to the opposite end of the combustion chamber, combustion of the dust occurs inside the liner. We therefore obtain full use of the dust for heating the boiler in the smallest possible space, while avoiding scarification of the hearth tube.
A longitudinal channel is advantageously provided in the refractory lining at the lower part of the hearth tube. Since at this point no secondary air flow enters the combustion chamber and the combustion gases are, moreover, coidis in the aforementioned longitudinal channel, the ash falls there in a granulated state. , so that they can be removed towards the front of the channel.
In the accompanying drawing, given by way of example, an embodiment of the fireplace b. dust for fire-tube boilers and marine boilers has been shown and in this drawing: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the fireplace; Fig. 2 is a cross section.

The slag settles there because no secondary air current, influencing the mixture of air and dust, enters it.
As vigorous cooling takes place at this point, the slag takes on a granular form and can be removed from channel f by exiting through door g.
