<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>

The whole of this installation works as follows: a circulation is established as in a thermosiphon between the ejector B and the boiler A via the intercirculation pipes 4 and 5. Soon activated by water and steam entrainment. , circulation is established in the direction of the arrows f.
When boiling occurs, the ejector operates in the known manner: the steam which forms in the bell pushes the hot water back into the tank from where it is sucked in by the condensation and the vacuum produced in the ejector; it passes through circuit 8-10 and radiators R, then returns to compartment 9, while the water previously cooled in the circuit enters ejector B and the heating

Descri tion de 1'ggāo @ rateur - The ejecto-aspiratur L is constituted as already indicated by a metal body, for example in sheet metal divided in the direction of the height into three main parts 1, 2 and 3.
The upper part 1 or bell is connected with the middle part 2 by a constriction or neck 20.
Bell 1 corresponds to the normal volume of the pulse to be produced. It is divided in its upper part by one or more vertical partitions 17 (only one is shown in FIG. 1) preferably annular and concentric leaving sufficient space at the bottom of the bell for the movements of water and steam.
The outer compartment 16 constitutes more especially the steam and discharge chamber. It creates the tension necessary for operation, and constitutes the main part of the ejected volume when the focus is very low. Interior compartment 19 is the

expansion and ejection compartment and is more or less emptied by the expansion effects produced in the mass by the trigger.
The ejection tube 6 starts from the upper part of the bell 1, preferably from the compartment 19. It can dip slightly inside this central compartment 19.

The central channel 22 is extended: preferably, below by a tubular part 24. The part 21 has on its periphery grooves or gutters, semi-cylindrical 25, preferably along the generatrices. When the part 21 is in place, these grooves form with the. wall of the neck 20 of the half-tubes. These half-tubes which can be in greater number than tubes which would cross the part 21, better divide the water

<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
carries a widened upper part 26 which overhangs the holder-receiver compartment 27 with which it communicates by upper intercirculation tubes 28. This widened part 26 must have enough height to ensure the correct functioning of the tubes 28 The upper part 26 is extended downwards by a tubular central part 29 which extends over the entire height which remains available. The assembly of the two parts 26 and 29 must have a volume in principle a little larger than the total volume of the bell 1.
The compartment 27 is preferably, entirely concentric with the central part 29 and for ease of construction, included in the casing of the body of the ejector. This compartment communicates on the one hand with the boiler A by one or more tubes 4 and on the other hand with the enlarged part 26 by the tubes 28. These tubes are offset, preferably, relative to the half-tubes 25, towards the 'outside, and emerge approximately halfway up or a little above the middle of part 26. Experience has shown that it is preferable to open these tubes 28 far enough from the bell 1 so that there remains between the level ZZ 'and the top of their upper orifices a sufficient height of water.
This makes it possible to stop the upward, harmful inflow of steam and water through the half-tubes 25 much earlier, when the water returns through the tube 11. This has the effect , as we will see below to accelerate the return of the water. In addition, it is avoided that in the event of an accentuated drop in the water level Z-Z 'the upper orifices of the tubes 26 are not located above this level. Ultimately, the effect of the separator 21 is thus made more effective.
Tubes 30 of smaller diameter also connect the lower part of part 29 to the base of this compartment 27.
The tubes 28 and 30 together with the compartment 27 and the tube (s) 4 constitute the upper intercirculation system, between the ejector-vacuum cleaner B and the boiler A.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The lower part 3 of the ejector-aspirator B comprises a tubular part 32 closed at its lower end (Figs.
1 and '2) and in which the return tube II plunges * The tube 32 is surrounded by a sheath 31. The diameter and the volume of the tubular part are reduced to the minimum hand large enough for the water to rise without resistance and its length should be as long as possible so as to maximize the length of the return tube 11.
The sheath 31 is extended by an initial damping compartment 33 which is connected to the boiler A by one or more tubes 5.
The ends of the sheath 31 are partially closed by partitions formed by the extension of the bottom of part 29 or of the top of the compartment 33 or washers 34 (Fig. 2) or added parts internally pierced with holes of appropriate dimensions, to give only the strictly necessary passage section.
The tubular part 32 may be constituted simply by a movable part, attached, fitted into the partitions, washers or attached parts and held by a weak collar 35 /Fig.2/.
The part 32 plunges into the compartment 33 as much as possible without hindering the circulation in the pipes 5.
The sheath 31, the compartment 33 completed more or less by the tube or tubes 5 constitute the lower intercirculation system.
The return tube 11 preferably penetrates as indicated by the upper part of the ejection compartment 19 and plunges to the bottom of the tubular part 32 with increasingly reduced diameters and ports 12, 12a, 12b ...
13 staggered under conditions determined on the height.
The diameter of the tube 11 inside the ejector is equal to the largest diameter of all the piping it outside.

above the ejector and stops at the lower level of the bell
1. The next part of diameter reduced by about a third descends to the bottom of the enlarged part 26, the lower part plunges to the bottom and has a diameter half that of the upper part. This device, which can be modified to a greater or lesser extent, is the easiest to perform and automatically gives the flow rate necessary for each stage through the holes 12, 12a, 12b.
Experience has shown that each stage of orifices as well as the diameter serves a specific purpose, stage 12 - 12a has the most active role of destroying the pocket of vapor which has forced the water back, the stage 2b serves as a safety device and contributes to supplying the orifices 30, it must be between the tubing of the separator and the plane of the orifices of the tubes 28.
The lower stage 13 contributes especially to the initiation of the return and to the role of flywheel of the extended tube; in full action the maximum flow must be that of the upper stage.
A bypass 14 goes from pipe 10 before tank D and brings the return water to any regulator 15 of the boiler, this regulator is thus controlled by the true temperature, of the return water, that is to say. that is, before it is warmed up in the device.
In large devices, mainly in the case of continuous heating, this regulator can usefully be placed on a part serving as a mixer, in principle cylindrical, which, in addition to the bypass 14, receives a bypass from the tube 11, it is that is to say water heated in the apparatus and returns the mixture as above to the tubing 11. This gives water at medium temperature, or at least raised, attenuating the effect of variations in the circuit on. regulator, and which in the event of starting a large cold mass, an entire column for example, will prevent too sudden and rapid cooling of the regulator water, which this device improves in
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
consequence the operation.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments shown and described which. were chosen only as an example. Of course, the various improvements to the ejector can be used in the case where the ejector is located inside the boiler without going beyond the scope of the invention.

As soon as ignition is carried out, circulation is established between the boiler 2 and the ejector-vacuum B by thermo-siphon, in the direction indicated by the arrows. As soon as the boiling point reaches the boiling point, the vapor bubbles emerge in compartment 27 then reach the bell 1 through the tubes 28 and the half-tubes 25. The vapor forms a pocket mainly in the compartment 16. It returns the water towards the level ZZ 'and by the. tube 6 in tank D in which the water level X-X 'rises. When the water level in the ejector arrives in Z-Z ', a bubble forms under the partition 17.
This bubble escapes towards the tube 6 causing a depression which determines an overspray and flush. through tube 6.
The weight of the water column corresponding to the difference between levels XX '- ZZ and which the constant rise of level XX' has continued to increase, compresses the vapor, the pressure of which has decreased as a result of the expansion. . The water return to the onboard ejector through the lower orifice 13, taking advantage of the successive pressure variations.
This re-entry of cooled water acts first in the lower parts of the reactor, the central compartment 29 and also in the compartment 27 thanks to the tubes.

the interior compartment 1.9- which is thus filled with steam.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
During this period the tubes 30 increase the circulation of hot and then boiling water in the central part 29, which they thus lead to the boiling point at the same time as the upper part. This is essential for the expansion effect to give the desired result (emptying), particularly at medium intensity of heating.
This period constitutes the priming period, which is moreover very short during which the water enters the ejector through the lower orifices 13, 12b, etc., while the ejection of steam is still continuing. As soon as the water return is sufficient, the cooled water partly entrained by the tubes 30 in the compartment 27 begins to act directly on the steam leaving the boiler so as to reduce the duration of the steam ejection. even before the return of water to the boiler itself through the tubes 5 stops the boiling.
It is in this period that with insufficient devices, a balance can be produced between the tension of the vapor and the weight of the water column XX '- ZZ', the return water ceasing to enter the ejector. The tube 11 gives on this point operational safety thanks to the position as low as possible of the orifice 13 by playing in some way the role of a flywheel as soon as the first downward pressure of the water has taken place. It is to promote this operation that it is important that the tube 11 supplying the cooled water is immersed in a heated water medium, which is obtained by the sheath 31 by running from top to bottom / water. hot.
As soon as the vapor pressure has dropped sufficiently, the cooled water spurts out through holes 12a and 12 at the same time as it continues to exit through holes 13 and 12b. This cold water directly reduces the steam contained in the central compartment 19 which quickly fills with water, then by contact the steam contained in the outer compartment 16 of the bell.
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
The separators by reducing or preventing the direct inflow into the bell of steam and boiling water joined to the action of the tubes 30 which cool the compartment 29, allows the cooled return water to act more effectively on the chamber. vapor pocket of the bell, which increases the speed and energy of the water return.
Ultimately, there is a gradual suction then slowed down on the pipe 11, to which is added the weight of the water column X-X '- Z-Z'. The heating circuit water (8-10) is drawn into the ejector-aspirator B, and, subsequently, the heated water from tank D passes into the heating circuit 8-10. The cycle starts again with successive pulses. the known way ..
The operation which proceeds is exact ... whether the ejector-aspirator B is inside or independent of the boiler A.
In the latter case, which is the one shown, the steam arriving from the boiler A through the tubes $ accumulates mixed with water. in the receiver-holder compartment 27. The tubes 28 by their braking prevent this mass of vapor from reacting with the same energy as in the ejector itself to the pressure variations which occur there., The compartment 27 adds this action regulating its relaxing effect. The boiler only obeys variations of relatively long duration and does not suffer jolts. It follows a regular course under the influence of the temperature of the water which arrives to it through the tubes 5 and of the energy of its home.
Nevertheless, the volumes of water in the various parts of the boiler A and of the ejector-aspirator B contribute to a certain extent to the volume of the pulsation, but the regulatory action of the intercirculation members, tubes 28 and 30, in particular, not only limits this make-up, but prevents any bleeding effect of boiler A. 0 'is therefore only in the body of the ejector that the level is lowered, due to the volume of water total ejected by tube 6 and not yet compensated by
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
cold water return through tube 11.
As for the compartment 33, it mainly exerts a regulating role, by the effect of its volume and of the mixture which occurs there, on the temperature of the water which by the tubes 5 goes to the boiler A.
In this way, any possible accident in the boiler or boiler is avoided.
Due to the possible variations in the length of tubes 4 and 5, it is important to use the maximum passage section that the boiler allows, because the circulatory movement between the latter and the ejector must be as active as possible. ble and in no way be embarrassed.

It does not allow the formation in the lower parts of any air pocket or vapor harmful to operation. All parts of the device are easy to control and offer high operational safety. It is, moreover, easy to construct as has been disclosed.

The seal between parts 2a and 2b is any flange seal, for example a flat seal. The inner part 29 carries all the inner pipes 28 and 30 and fits more or less by its ends into grooves. or housing 38 and

Description of the upper expansion and charge tank
This reservoir consists (Fig.1) by a metal body divided into three superimposed parts 50 - 51 - 52 of diameter increasing from bottom to top.
The lower part 50 contains the damping bell C and is calculated in such a way as to contain the initial water and partially the volume due to the expansion * The initial water must have a minimum volume in order to obtain at the first pulsation a high starting temperature (counting on the expansion of water and steam to sufficiently flood the bell C). Part 50 is terminated at its base by a drain funnel F in the form of a funnel or preferably cylindrical. In the bottom of this part is fixed the drain pipe 99, and on the side the starting pipe 8.
This tubing 8 can form an elbow 93 in the interior, preferably enlarged to siphon off the resistance of the elbow, and so as to come more or less flush with the bottom of the tank, neither the air, nor the sludge or impu- thus cannot be drawn into traffic.
The middle portion 51 preferably contains the inlet elbow 55 of the ejection tubing 6 and should absorb the maximum volume of pulsation achievable. The need to reduce the overall height of the tank makes it necessary to limit the height of part 51 and consequently to increase its diameter.
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
The upper part 52 serves as a steam chamber; it communicates directly with a fourth compartment 53 serving more especially as a condensation chamber. All
52-53 must have a volume, and especially a sufficient surface.
Since the height must also be limited for the same reason as for compartment 51, the assembly 52-53 will have the largest diameter.
The condensing compartment 53 is limited at the top by the double-walled cover 57, forming the compartment 9 which was discussed above.
The cover 57 depending on the method of construction (sheet metal or cast metal) will or will not include a part of the compartment 53, depending on whether its lower bottom may be above the plane of the joint (welded sheet) or must be in this plane (castings).
Fig. 1 shows the first device, the second is shown in FIG. 5.
The parts 52 and 53 are separated by a movable plate 58 made of metal or any other material. This slightly domed plate is pierced to allow air and vapor to pass through orifices 59 at the end of one of its diameters or in its middle depending on the circulatory mode adopted for them.
Depending on the construction mode of the cover 57, the plate 58 could be, as in FIG. 1, in the plane of the joint 60 or more or less below this plane (Fig. 5). In the first case it can be enca.strée in the seal itself and maintained by its tightening. In the second case, it could rest in a housing 61 provided as shown in FIG. 5, in the back of the reservoir.
Opposite the orifices 59, a tubing 62 communicates the chamber 53 with the outside, this tubing is arranged, as the case may be, either in the wall of the cover 57 (Fig.l) or in that of the tank body (Fig. 5.). in addition to the orifices 59, the plate 58 comprises one or more
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
smaller orifices 63 preferably provided with small tubes 64 dipping to a certain depth in the compartment 52 so as to allow condensate water to flow out, while minimizing the passage of steam through these orifices .
The condensing device can be made in different ways, for example, as shown in Figs. 1, 5, 6 and 7, fins 65 are arranged so as to increase the condensing surface on the bottom of the cpivercle and in such a way that they force the steam and the air to circulate between them to go from the orifices 59 to the tube 62. These fins can be flat or even corrugated.
In the castings (Fig.5) the bottom 66 of the cover 57 is preferably an insert, for ease of construction, this part 66 can therefore be made of a very conductive metal such as aluminum. This part could be provided with fins 65 as indicated, and also be pleated in any way, so as to obtain the maximum possible condensation surface for the same diameter.
These folds, either concentric or in a spiral, whether or not completed by the fins 65, may come into contact with the part 58 to a greater or lesser extent, so as to determine either concentric zones communicating with each other as is shown. shown in Fig. 6, that is to say a spiral pipe, zone and pipe going for example from the center to the periphery, and being traversed by air and steam. In this case, as has been said, the orifice (s) 59 are at the center of the plate 58.
In addition, in the double bottom itself a few baffles 66a serve mainly to break the flow of water between the two pipes.
These fins and baffles 65 and 66a reinforce the bottom of the cover which, to facilitate exchanges, can be reduced to the minimum thickness. It can also, through the fins, rest on the plate 58 which can then be reinforced
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
if necessary using ribs 67 (Fig. 5).
The cover 57 further comprises fittings for the inlet 10 and outlet 11 tubes arranged at the ends of the same diameter of the double bottom. At the top is an air vent 69.
Operation of tank D.
Since the water is initially at level XX 'or even a little below during the heating period, the expansion of the water in the system gradually brings it to this level, or above, as it goes. occur the first heartbeat. The water and the steam discharged escape through the orifices 59, then after having passed through the chamber 53, the air freed from the steam, largely condensed, leaves through the pipe 62. The discharge being completed, the The ejection continues for a while and the ejection vapor which has not condensed in the path or by bubbling in the reservoir D fills the compartments 51 and 52 and by the same path reaches the tubing 62.
Experience shows that the device condenses the vapor almost entirely. This steam gives up its calories to the water contained in the compartment 9 of the cover 57 and which returns them to the boiler.
When the water return occurs, the hot water from compartments 50 and 51 is drawn into the circuit. The air centers in the reservoir D through the tubing 62 and the orifices 59. At the same time the heated water of the cover 57 is replaced by the cooled water of the circulation 8-10 and the cycle begins again.
During stops, the vapors which rise in the reservoir also condense in part 53, releasing their calories to the water in the cover, and thus cannot be the cause of waste.
A level tube 70 (Fig.l) is used to monitor the operation of the appliance.
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
tank variants D-
In some cases, the reservoir D can be reduced to compartments 50 and 51. The cover 57 is simple without double bottom or fins; it is provided with the pipe 62 for the escape of air and steam. In this case, a very small vapor chamber is simply saved by slightly increasing the volume of part 51 or by sufficiently conveying the cover.
For example, when we have to supply a hot water tank in a somewhat significant way, the condensing device can then be constituted by a coil placed in the system's float feed tank, where air and steam leaving the pipe 62. The device is arranged so as to allow the condensed water to return to the tank D.
Finally, in large installations, it may be advantageous not to bring the water back to the reservoir D for example if this reservoir is placed at the highest point of the system. In this case, the condensation will be carried out in a special condenser, which, in principle, can be in any position relative to the tank D but preferably below. This condenser can be served either by the water intended for supply tanks or by the return water from the system.
If the condenser is below the tank, the water will have to be returned there using a pump for example.
