<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Electrical installation for regulated automatic switching on and heating of liquid fuel boilers, such as the
EMI1.1
fuel oil ".
The present invention relates to electrical equipment for the regulated automatic ignition and heating of boilers using liquid fuel, such as fuel oil.
- "The invention is particularly applicable to central heating installations with hot and steam, the inventive problem being to heat the oil-fired boiler from a minimum temperature fixed to a predetermined and variable maximum temperature, from so that at the minimum temperature, the installation will be restarted and from the maximum temperature the motor controlling the installation will start.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
rete, operations continuing in a continuous cycle.
The equipment therefore comprises an electric motor, a compressor controlled by this motor, a fan, a burner serving to inject the liquid fuel and into which the air compressed by the compressor and the air expelled by the fan are supplied.
The supply tank, of the constant level type, supplies the burner through the intervention of an electrically controlled valve. The burner contains the ignition device controlled by the electrical circuit and a safety switch stopping the ignition. stallation in the event that the ignition has not been consumed regularly. An automatically triggering switch is interposed in the circuit which further comprises a transformer, thermal relays and magnetic switches as well as a temperature switch, that is to say equipped so as to interrupt a circuit for a temperature. maximum and form the circuits at a minimum temperature.
All the elements are gathered on one: support plate, possibly a table on legs which can be placed so that the burner engages in the usual hearth of a boiler.
The invention will be described below by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the installation as a whole, installation more particularly equipped for alternating current; FIG. 2 shows a diagram of a somewhat different electrical equipment, particularly intended for the current c ontinu; Figure 3 shows an axial section through the burner.
A reserve of liquid fuel, that is to say a tank placed at a suitable place, feeds the constant level tank 1 through an inlet 2. The tank 1 contains a float organism of known construction, which allows the arrival of the fuel up to at a predetermined and constant level. The tank supplies

by a pipe 3 the burner 4, said pipe carrying a valve 5 controlled by the electrical circuits of the installation. An electric motor 6 controls a compressor 7 and a ven-. fan 8; compressor 7 is fitted with an intake pipe
9 with filter, pipe which also carries a Jo grease nipple, 6t of a delivery duct 11 which opens into the casing 12 of the burner 4.
The discharge duct 11 comprises a regulating valve 20 controlled by spring 21, which surrounds a rod 22 integral with the tube 23, this valve making it possible to regulate the degree of compression of the fluid supplied to the burner. The closed casing 12 is open at the front facing the burner nozzle. The fan 8 blows air into the pipe 13 which completely surrounds the burner and its casing. This pipe 13 carries the spark ignition 14 and a safety switch 15.
Figure 3 illustrates in section and on a larger scale the constitution of the burner The burner ends with a conical nozzle 16 which is interchangeable and centered with respect to the casing 12 at the flange of a skeleton plate 17 , fixed with screws on an interchangeaule head 18 which screws into the cone of the casing 12. This interchangeable head makes it possible to vary the passage 19 for the preferred compressed air so that the burner can be modified quantitatively; a larger section will allow a more considerable passage of compressed air and consequently a greater entrainment of the fluid which presents itself at the outlet orifice. The weight of the liquid contained in the tank 1 constitutes a back pressure calculated for the flow rate at the nozzle of the burner in comparison with the compressed injection air.
The fan has the effect of directing the flame of the burner and ensuring complete combustion of the mixture caused.
The electrical equipment comprises the power supply terminals A, B, an automatic switch C controlled by an electro D. A thermal relay E supplies a transformer F which gives the current necessary for ignition 14. A thermal relay G controls l 'safety switch 15 provided in the pipe
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
13 of the burner. An automatic switch at temperatures H ensures the rest and start-up, within predetermined temperature limits, of the entire installation.
The diagram essentially comprises the circuit a which controls the electromagnet D; circuit b which supplies thermal relay E and transformer F. A branch of this circuit b 'supplies the motor 6 and the thermal relay G. The transformer supplies a circuit b "supplying the spark ignition.
14; the circuit passes through the thermal switch 15 of the pipe 13, said circuit passing through the electro K. The contact 15 is established when, under the effect of ventilation and in the event of failure of ignition, the bi-metal of the switch cools down; in this way the electro k acts and the circuit a which controls the electro D is cut off and the main switch is tripped; in the event of no ignition, the installation is therefore completely stopped.
On the other hand, if the ignition occurs regularly, this circuit remains open. Circuit d passes through the switch at temperature H and through the electromagnet L. This switch closes the circuit when the maximum ambient temperature is observed, the circuit cut off when the pre-determined minimum temperature has been reached. At maximum temperature, with circuit d closed, circuit 1: opens and trips the main switch. The installation is therefore shut down.
Circuit b 'has as a bypass a circuit d' which is used to control valve 5, so that the latter opens when the installation is started and closes when stopping.
Figure 3 illustrates the diagram of more special equipment, intended for direct current installations, additional resistances being provided and the fuel supply valve being inserted into the ignition circuit. can possibly be controlled by a delay relay which causes the interruption of this circuit with delay,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
so that the production of sparks is sufficient to ensure ignition.
The installation therefore includes maximum operating safety. The thermal switches will be of the bi-metal type. The equipment will be operated under the name Calzout-auto.
