DESCRIPTION et FONCTIONNEMENT.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

SLIDING PIVOT HINGE
The object of the invention is a sliding pivot hinge system in which the rotary movement of the pivot * fixed to the leaf, cover or the like, is transformed into a lateral displacement of said pivot so that, the leaf being contiguous with the corresponding upright (pivot side) of the frame when it is closed can, when opened, move away laterally and rotatably from the said upright in order to allow the external angle (pivot side) of the said leaf to enter the frame.
The improved pivot hinge meets the demands of a new style in furniture, construction, etc., which calls for the use of a suitable hinge invisible to the observer.
One embodiment is described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 2: plan view when the leaf is partially open; the device which causes the separation has ceased to act.

FIG. 4: is a plan view of one of the means making it possible to hold the pivots in place when the device which produces the spacing has ceased to act.
DESCRIPTION and OPERATION.
The pivot! fixed perpendicularly by one of its ends to the plate B (which must be embedded in the leaf, cover or the like) passes through a plate C embedded in the corresponding cross member of the frame) by a longitudinal groove made in said plate ± and which allows lateral displacement of said pivot A; this then passes through a blade D through a round hole, of the same caliber (as A), and @ in which it turns freely; this slide D slide, in particular by a groove in which is engaged a pin E fixed to the plate C, guides the pivot! in its lateral displacements.
At the other end of the hinge pin A is fixed a lever F which has a tooth f which can engage in a hollow formed in a part; this can oscillate around a second pivot H fixed on the sliding blade D. In the oscillating part G there is also a forked groove in which is engaged a pin I fixed to the plate C. The lever F has a notch j which, by abutting against the part, limits the travel of the leaf.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
When opening the leaf, the hinge pin A and the integral lever F are rotated; the tooth! engaged in the hollow! tilts the part G which, bracing itself on the pin I fixed at C acts on the pivot H, laterally displacing the slid blade which guides the hinge pivot, and the leaf when opening moves away the amount.
The necessary spacing obtained, the tooth f is released from g and the opening is completed; the operation in the opposite direction brings the bat- tabt in juxtaposition to the corresponding upright. A washer K with cutaway k (see Pig. 4) fixed on the pivot A, coming into contact with a flange of the part G when the tooth comes out of the hollow, keeps the pivots in place.
