The invention relates to a flushing tank for lavatories, of the siphon type which can be actuated by means of a water jet injected into the short branch of the siphon and whose part of the long branch of the siphon is located in the tank is curved, and its aim is to obtain a simple construction that can be applied to existing tanks, the embodiment being further such that it always ensures a good priming of the siphon.
According to the invention this is obtained by the fact that the curvature of the part of the long branch located in the reservoir is such that the upper portion of this n part joining the elbow and the lower portion joining the bottom of the tank are substantially coaxial and that the distance of the axes of these 1-axis parts of the pipe at the point of the maximum curvature is greater than the internal diameter of the pipe.,

The accompanying drawing shows the invention in vertical section through a toilet cistern.
The tank 1 comprises in the usual way a float valve 3 and in the middle of its bottom is an opening to which are connected on one side the discharge pipe and on the other side the long branch 4 of the siphon.
In the bottom of the tank, under the short branch 5 of this siphon, there is also an opening in which is fixed the mouthpiece 6 which is connected under the tank, by a pipe 7, with a push-button device. By pressing button 8 of this device, a jet of water is launched in the short branch of the siphon, which initiates it.
In order to obtain good priming, the branch 4 of the siphon is shaped in such a way that the water is somewhat diverted at the start, an idea moreover already applied in other known constructions. According to the invention, this idea is put into practice by locating approximately in the extension of one another the upper part of the branch 4 joining the bend of the siphon and the lower part of this branch joining the bottom, and by giving the intermediate part a curved shape such that the distance of the axes of these upper and lower parts from the axis of the part of the curve furthest away is greater than the internal diameter of the pipe. This gives a collected shape and the water cannot fall without changing direction through the long branch of the siphon.
