<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

for GAS OR LIQUID PUMP, MOVEMENT PISTON, EXCENTER.
The present invention relates to gas pumps
EMI1.1
or to 11quidesj) with movement piston f: e2tentré p comprising one or more drawers fixed to the piston and guided in the cylinder so as to form the working ohambes. The difficulties encountered in pumps of this kind consist of
EMI1.2
so particularly in the realization of IP6tanoh6lté of the piston in the cylinder this etanoheity being oompromised because of the variations in shape of the cylinder and in the elimination of jamming of the spool in its guide. This drawer must run, at the same time as the piston moves
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
eccentrically in the cylinder a back and forth movement and a pendulum movement.
As pumps of this kind run at very high speeds (up to 2000 revolutions with an overpressure of 20 atmospheres per phase) the release of heat from the friction of the bearings of the spool (s) is very high so that a jamming of drawers occurs frequently. In the
EMI2.1
oompresseurop to oheat. due to friction is added to that due to compression. Pumps comprising eccentric movement pistons have therefore never been generally adopted, despite their advantages which consist in the fact of their rotary movement.
These drawbacks arise especially if the spool is journalled at a fixed point on the casing and if this spool is at the same time guided so as to move in its journal axis. In this case, considerable accumulations of temperature occur in this axis and these accumulations can only be avoided by making the bearings large or by specially cooling them. This temperature rise is less important di the journal axis is shown in

the liti-mtmep drawer and the latter in a guided oou1isseau in the darter. In this case, in fact, the heat removal is distributed over the entire length of the guide of the bucket slurry.
The journal bearing of the. one-piece drawer. In this arrangement, the guiding of this bearing in the housing is relatively long, which is not conducive to. a good seal of the piston in the cylinder. The longer the guidance
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
- - / the more easily the cylinder can change its shape ,, when high discharge pressures are used, from which it follows that the strength of the piston in the cylinder and, consequently, the efficiency of the pump are adversely affected .
On the other hand,) the lubrication of the journal axis is made more difficult, because the lubricating oil easily burns under the effect of heat.
The closed bearing is furthermore subjected to a relatively large expansion due to its large mass, which easily leads to jamming, if the bearing is adjusted in its guide. To remedy these drawbacks, the bearing of the journal axis or of the drawers consists of two side flanges, which are not joined together in any way.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, a pump established in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section, perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the axis of the cylinder.
FIG, 3 is a section, on a larger scale, of an improved embodiment of the sliding bearing of the drawer. of
Fig. 4 is an elevation of the sliding surface / bearing shown in fig 3.
The machine cylinder is made up of a cast iron part 1, open on both sides, which is closed laterally by two covers 2 and 3. These parts are fixed together by means of bolts 4. In the side covers 2 and 3, following the axis of the cylinder, is turret -

left a shaft 5, which is driven by a pulley 6. On the shaft 5 is wedged an eccentric 7, on which is mounted so as to rotate a cylindrical piston 8,, The piston carries by its front surfaces and, by a generator. tightly, on the walls of the cylinder.
On the piston is fixed the slide 9 which enters a guide 10 of the cylinder and which receives, during the eccentric movement of the piston, both an oscillating movement and a reciprocating movement. During the eccentric movement of the piston, the periphery of the latter slides on the internal wall of the cylinder, so that the working chambers 11 and 12, in the form of crescents, alternately increase or decrease in volume. In the direction of rotation of the piston shown in fig. 1, chamber 11 is the suction chamber and chamber 12 'is the discharge chamber. The chamber 11 communicates, by a channel 13, with the chamber 14 of the suction valve 15, while the chamber 12 communicates, by a channel 16, with the chamber 17 of the discharge valve 18.
According to the invention, the journal axis 19 of the spool 9 is fitted in a sealed manner, in two flanges 20 forming a bearing, which bear, in a sealed manner, by their flat surfaces, on the guide housing 10 of the housing. The part of the journal axis located between the flanges is therefore not covered, so as not to hide the central lubrication opening 21. Correct lubrication of the bearing is thus ensured. As the spool moves up and down in housing 10, it acts as a pump; the oil can thus be sucked in during the upstroke, and be discharged on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
@ surfaces in contact, during the downstroke, by the corresponding openings of the journal pin and the spool.
In addition, this arrangement has the advantage that the guide of the bearing can be kept very short. Too large a protrusion of the crankcase due to this guiding is thus avoided, so that the high delivery pressures due to a change in the shape of the cylinder are advantageously absorbed by the crankcase.
To reduce the friction of the guide shoes, their flat surfaces can be provided, according to figs. 3 and 4, 22 ball or roller bearings.
