<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
@
Enfin, avantageusement, on établit une liaison entre
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Improvements made to engine mounts for air navigation devices, especially those for W engines.
The invention relates to the engine mounts of air navigation vehicles, and it relates more specifically, (because it is in their case that its application seems to offer the most interest), but not exclusively, among these devices, those for W motors.
Its aim, above all, is to ensure, in a simpler and more economical way than hitherto, the fixing of said engine mounts on air navigation devices.
It mainly consists - at the same time in making the frames of the Kind in question understand, a lower support or cradle on which the engine casing is liable to come to rest, this cradle being kept rigid- on machinery comprising the aforesaid frames, using at least two oblique tie rods, - to assemble the ends
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
front of these tie rods, not directly on said cradle, as has been done up to now, but on a transverse axis made integral with the front part of the engine.
It consists, apart from this main decision, of certain other provisions which are preferably used at the same time, and which will be dealt with more explicitly below.
It relates more particularly to a certain mode of application (that in which it is applied to engine frames for W-shaped engines) as well as certain embodiments of said ''; disposi- tins; and it relates more particularly still, and this as new industrial products, to frames of the type in question comprising the application of the same provisions, to the special elements specific to their establishment as well as to aerial navigation devices comprising similar frames,
And it can, in any case, be well understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawing, which complement and drawings are, of course, given above all by way of indication.
Figs, 1 and 2, of this drawing, show schematically in side view and in front view, an engine frame established in accordance with the invention.
@
According to the invention, and more especially according to that of its modes of application as well as those of the embodiments; of its various parts, to which it seems that the preference should be given, proposing to establish an engine mount capable of allowing the attachment, on any part of an airplane, of an engine for a propeller propeller, for example of a motor in W, one does it as follows ,, or in a similar way.
This frame, at its lower part, is made to understand a support or cradle suitable for making it possible to come and fix there, for example by bolting, the fixing table of the engine which is to be mounted on the airplane, and 1 ' we give this cradle
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
any suitable form; if, for example, as we will assume in what follows, it is a question of mounting a motor on the front part of the foselage, this cradle a is advantageously constituted by a very resistant box before the shape of a shell extending from the lower part of the fuselage.
As regards, maintaining the means for making said cradle a integral with the fuselage, recourse is had, on the one hand, to attachments b, established at least two in number, and carrying out the attachment of the cradle to a part of the fuselage , for example on the front part '. and, on the other hand, at least two oblique tie rods c, for example tubular suitable for ensuring a rigid connection between said cradle and the fuselage, this connection being established in the manner which will be indicated.
One of the free ends of these tie rods is fixed to the fuselage, as usual, by appropriate fasteners d, and, as regards the opposite end, instead, as has been done up to now, to fix it to the front part of the cradle, it is fixed on a transverse axis that is made, @ itself, integral with the front part of the engine, by any appropriate means, for example, or by making come this casting shaft with the motor, or by passing said shaft through bores provided in the motor housing, and keeping it fixed there.
by any means, or else, advantageously, thus CI, 18 shown, by passing the same axis through a part f in the form of a pan, established so as to have sufficient rigidity, and suitable for covering the front part of the motor, the shaft possibly also passing through the motor housing, for example in holes g1 g2.
@
Finally, advantageously, a link is established between
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the axis e, and the front part of the cradle, for example using reinforcing pieces h.
As a result of which an assembly is produced having many advantages over existing frames of the type in question, in particular: that of allowing the traction forces of the propulsive propeller to be distributed in a suitable manner, these forces being transferred directly to the tie-rods c, that of making it possible to create) thanks to the transverse axis e, an additional fulcrum which makes it possible to reduce the fatigue of the front of the engine, that of allowing a notable gain in weight, since the engine casing is required to contribute to the overall work of the engine mount, that, finally, to allow very easy access to the various engine components and to lend itself particularly well to the case of W-shaped engines .
As goes without saying, and as it follows moreover from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to that (its modes of application, nor to those of the methods of carrying out its various parts, having been more particularly indicated, it embraces, on the contrary, all the variants.
