<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Leaf spring It
The present invention relates to a leaf spring for the suspension of vehicles, said spring allowing the steering axle to move relative to the chassis as a result of shocks received from the road.
Until now, in some cases, the ends of these springs have been fixed to two links hinged to the frame, in other cases, one of the ends / a link has been fixed and the other end has been guided in a slide. . In addition, there is interposed a deformable element, such as a telescopic tube containing a @ spring in the connection connecting the steering wheel / steering to the steered wheels. This arrangement has the drawback of giving rise to a very easy movement of the steering axle, movement which results in insecurity in the operation of the vehicle.
To remedy this drawback, according to the present invention, provision is made for a connection

5 10 15 20 25 30 elastic between one end of the springs to which the steering axle is attached and the part of the frame to which that end is attached.
According to one embodiment of the invention, some of the blades are curved at one of their ends, so as to form a U-shaped hook.
Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto and which represent schematically, and by way of example only, one embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an automobile frame provided with a spring according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of this spring.
The automobile frame 2 shown in figure 1 rests on the rear axle by ordinary springs 3 and on the steering axle ± by an ordinary spring 5 and by a spring according to the invention 6.
This spring 6 is arranged on the side of the steering wheel 7 so as to. avoid the transmission to this steering wheel of the shocks undergone by the neighboring wheel 8 from the road.
The spring 6 (fig.2) has a number of blades such as 6a, 6b and 6c curved at one of their ends so as to form a hook 6d in the form of a U. The master blade 6d ends in a loop 6f serving to attach the spring to the front end of the frame.
The hook 6d, by its shape, can be deformed @ so that the steering axle 4 can / move in the direction of the arrow X under the action of the shocks undergone by

wheel 8 from the road.
The elasticity of this hook 6d prevents too great a displacement of the steering axle in the direction of arrow X.
The sliding of the blades which are curved so as to constitute the hook 6d could be hampered at the location of the fold 6g if this number of blades etaitélevé.
If this number were very small, the hook 6d could not be sufficiently rigid to prevent too great a displacement of the steering axle 4 in the direction of the arrow X. It is to take these conditions into account , according to the invention 1 to bend only a small number of leaves of the spring 6 and to strengthen the hook

The end of the spring 6 opposite the hook 6d is provided with a loop 6k connected to the chasis by a rod 6m (fig.1)
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of the elements involved in its realization without going beyond the scope of the invention. present patent.
