"Apparatus for mechanically skinning animals".
The invention relates to an apparatus for mechanically skinning animals, characterized in that it can be gripped very easily, that it is operated by means of a flexible transmission shaft and that it is provided with '' a skin protection device, which ensures its integrity during
EMI1.1
the skinning operation.
The device is made up of two parts; one lower and the other upper, ring-shaped, which are mounted on top of each other, between which rotates a ring carrying the cutting blade and which is actuated by means of a bevel gear controlled by the flexible transmission shaft which engages on a ring gear of the ring itself.
The part
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
superior is, by a line / corresponding ,, for example
120, in its anterior part, slightly set back, so that the blade can protrude from it for a certain line, while the lower part, in concordance with the aforesaid part, has its periphery intersected so as to form a sufficiently wide tooth comb. The rounded tips of the teeth coincide with the cutting edge of the blade.
The blade, which can be formed by several juxtaposed sections to allow easy ironing and ease of construction, has a polygonal rim formed by several ares connected and tapered on their outer edge, a suitable handle being provided in order to to facilitate handling and operation of the device.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, a practical embodiment of the apparatus.
Figure 1 is a plan view; Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a view, on a smaller scale, showing how to grip the device.
The apparatus comprises a carcass formed by an upper annular element 1 connected, for example, by means of screws 3, passing through suitable tabs, to a second annular element 2. The two elements, upper and lower, delimit inside an annular chamber 4 in which is arranged annular insulation 5 which rotates on a ball bearing 6 so as to be guided.
The annular element 5 has a toothed ring 7, which can be actuated by the bevel gear 7 ', rotated by the shaft 13 wedged on the flexible transmission shaft 9.
The annular element 5 carries the cutting blade 10, it-

even in the form of a ring and the cutting edge of which is polygonal, obtained by a series of connected arcs; a cutting system is produced in this way, perfectly centered with respect to the axis of rotation. The blade protrudes from the front of the device beyond part 1 which has a recess or clearance over an arc of about 120.

The element 2 in co.anr.ance.,. With the part ie set back from the element 1, has its periphery intersected so as to form a series of teeth 11, more or less distant from each other , the free end of the teeth coinciding with the cutting edge of the blade.
This arrangement allows to benefit, for skinning, the natural elasticity of the fresh skin which during the operation.

ration and as the ::: t8it device advances. between the skin and the fleshy part, tends to be inserted between the teeth of part 2, so as to be in the best conditions for skinning and without danger of the skin being damaged.
Part 1 of the carcass has a protruding part, intended to make the device easier to maneuver) and which has notches on the outside to guide the fingers; the device is gripped as shown in figure 3.
In this way, the effort of the weight of the device is completely eliminated and we have the advantage that the operator's hand is very close to the operating part of the device, so that it can be guided in a perfect way without any effort. Part 2 is provided with a tubular appendage 8 intended to protect the bevel gear 7 'and the shaft 13.
The operation of the device is understandable without further explanation.
