<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Patent of improvement.
The present improvement relates to the subject of patents -d'invention N 333,773 and improvement? 339,482 and mainly to the expandable sheath as described in the said improvement patent, sheath in which two opposed longitudinal slots form two expandable fins, the inner section of these fins and the shape of the member. of expansion cooperating simultaneously ensuring with the spacing of the fins a deformation of said fins to bring their longitudinal edges provided with anchoring teeth in contact with the walls of the housing in which the fixing is to take place.
The aim of the present improvement is on the one hand to increase the angle that the two fins can form between them under the action of the expansion member, to thus allow fixing in bad masonry, d 'on the other hand to make it easier to manufacture the object of the invention and its improvements.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
For this purpose, the present perfecti0141ement starts from the idea of dividing the expandable sheath into two parts or fins by extending the opposite longitudinal slots and consists of establishing the sheath in two parts contiguous by their edges situated in an axial plane and of articulating these two parts to each other has one of their ends in such a way that they are susceptible of angular movement around the joint under the action of the ex- body.

pansioù acting among their other exLrt7eility3.
The extreme angle of the mating faces of the fins or of the one of them has araGta at the end forming the hinge, de -L'agori allow the desired angular Ct: 1Jlaee- ment of the fins.
EMI2.3
Other characteristics of the invention will emerge from the following description of examples of embodiments of this invention shown in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1, 2 and 3 relate to an embodiment of malleable iron, preferably, FIG. 1 being a side view, fig.2 a sectional plan taken along line II-II of fig. 1 and FIG. 3, a view indicating the assembly method.
In these figures, the fins a and b are assembled at the
EMI2.4
means of 1 attacrie ç and the extreme angles of the walls of adjoining, eH't at the assembly end are rounded eii d. The atacne. ± surrounds the fin a, is engaged in a groove a of the latter and comprises

two re-entrant ends 1: engaged in the slots ±. of the alletbe A, the engagement being made as shown in fig. 3. In order to facilitate the placement of the attachment é, the a11e te! J: comprises at the edge of the groove a lug h (fig. 5) which is folded over this groove (fig. 1) after placing 1 at tacne o to maintain it during the assembly shown in figure 3. After assembly, the slots can be closed or reduced by hammering as shown in figure 1.
An alternative embodiment of the example of execution of the

g of the fin b.
Figures 4 and 5 relate to a second embodiment of fig. 4 being a partial elevational view and FIG. 5 a sectional plan taken along the line V-V of FIG. 4.
In these figures, the fins a and b are provided with a groove e in which a ligature c is housed. this ligature can also be formed by a continuous ring ± engaged on the 'two fins put in contact by their rounded d and forming between them an angle; the approach of the fins forces the ring c to be lodged in the groove e. The placement of this ring. ± will be all the easier as the ring will be relatively larger and in this order of ideas an oval ring, theoretically too large, will be able to pass through the groove and keep the fins a and b while remaining engaged in this groove by the parts closest to the oval.
The lugs h allow a ring to be hooked and held in the groove during the angular approach of the opposite ends of the fins a and b.
These pins ±, can be folded over the groove e after assembly.
Figures 6 and 7 relate to a third embodiment, fig. 6 being a partial elevational view and FIG.
7 a plan section taken along the line VII-VIT of figure 6.
In these figures, the fin has a groove e while the fin has two fastening cords which can be folded down into this groove. Protrusions i of the fastening tabs ± may engage in custom-made holes j in the bottom of the groove e so as to form a hinge, the rounded edges d allowing the angular movement of the fins a and b.
Figures 8 and 9 relate to an embodiment of the expandable bolt with a tube clamp, fig. 8 being an elevational view with the expandable sheath in section and FIG. 9 an end view. The half-flange is made integral with the threaded rod 1 on which the expansion nut m of the sheath n takes,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the other half-flange c being fixed to the first by a bolt p and a nut. 9 ,. A washer.! can furthermore have come in one piece with the threaded rod 1 to hide the mounting hole of the expanding bolt.
It is understood that the invention is independent of the shapes, proportions, device-s and details of execution of the fins, of the sheath and of their articulation.
