" Washing machine "
This invention relates to a washing machine in which the water used for washing is set in motion by a gas or petroleum flame.
The machine is, by way of example, shown in the accompanying drawing.
A vaporifère 1 heated by a gas or oil flame opens into a vertical tube 2 surrounded at a certain distance by a perforated basket 3 placed in a water vessel 4 au-

top of the vaporifer 1. The upper end of the tube 2 is covered by an inverted cylinder 6 joined to the basket 3 and with an internal reverse cylinder 6 forming a valve having its seat on a disc 7 joined to a rod 9 passing through a perforated disc 8 in the tube 2, this rod having a head actuated by a spring.
The valve 6 communicates via the wheels 10 with an annular chamber 11 below the basket 3. Between this chamber 11 and the tube
2 there is another annular chamber 12 closed at its upper end and at the lower end communicating with the atmosphere. The chamber 11 is covered with a plate 13 joined to the basket 3. In the basket there is a horizontal compression disc 16 which, by means of adjustable rods 17, is suspended from a rinsing water basin 18 placed above. of the vessel 4. Under the basket 3 and joined to it is arranged an annular disc 14, the edge of which is located near the inner wall of the vessel 4, this disc 14 acting as a brake.
The machine works as follows:
After the laundry has been treated, as usual, with soap, detergent, etc., it is placed in basket 3 which, in its lowest position, is immersed in the water in the washing machine. vase 4. The compressor 16 is placed on the linen and the basin 18 is placed on the vase 4, and then the fire is lit under the vaporifère 1.
The steam produced rises in the tube 2, passes through the disc 8 and lifts the disc 7 and the cylinder 5 and, consequently, also the basket 3 and the disc 14, and the laundry is thus compressed between the bottom. basket 3 and the compressor 16, so that the water is forced through and out of the laundry. When the head 22 meets the disc 8, the movement of the disc 7 ceases, while the cylinder 5 continues to rise, and the steam enters cylinder 6 and escapes through holes 10 to enter space 11 and then into vessels 3 and 4 in which it partially condenses. decrease in

resulting pressure, the disc 7 falls on its seat to the disc 8, and the basket 3 falls at the speed permitted by the brake 14 which has to overcome the resistance opposed by the water in the vessel 4.
When the valve 6 has reached the disc 7, the operation begins again, and the laundry is thus subjected to repeated washing.
Details of the machine may vary or be exchanged for other equivalents without departing from the principle of the invention.
The machine can also be operated by hand. In this case, the generator is removed, and the disc 13, or the basket 3, is raised and lowered by means of a lever, for example.
