La présente invention a pour but de traiter les boyaux et vessies d'animaux d'une seule pièce ou en plusieurs morceaux rapportés, de calibres différents ou similaires, le traiteront ayant en vue de ramener le ou les boyaux à un calibre détermi- né, de façon qu'après séchage ces boyaux ne puissent s'élargir au remplissage de viande hachée, d'une autre pâte quelconque ou à l'eau .
L'invention consiste à procéder au tannage des boyaux et vessies, et à opérer le séchage des boyaux tannés sur un sup-

port quelconque de calibre désiré,ce support pouvant .être ri- gide, élastique ou à coulisse. Le boyau sortant du bain de tan- nage sera immédiatement mis à sécher sur le support et dans le cas ou l'on traite des morceaux de boyaux de calibre différent, on disposera les boyaux de façon que leurs extrémités se recou- vrent partiellement. Au cours du séchage les morceaux de boyaux se rétrécissent avec ce résultat remarquable que les bouts su- perposés se soudent l'un à l'autre, de façon à former un joint qui résiste à l'humidité et à la chaleur. Tous les procédés de tannage ordinairement connus sont applicables en l'occurence.
A titre d'exemple le traitement au complet sera détaillé ci-après.
Les boyaux et vessies frais ou salés sont convenablement rincés à l'eau et plongés, par exemple, dans un bain de tanna- ge constitué au moyen d'une solution diluée de formol, notamment dans les proportions de 1/lgOO ou d'un autre aldehyde. Après avoir séjourna quelques minutes dans ce bain tannait, on enlè- ve le boyau que l'on enfile dans l'état humide sur up support approprié et de calibre déterminé. En guise de support on peut se servir de tringles métalliques maintenues à distance conve- nable l'une de l'autre par des moyens élastique quelconques.
Le boyau sèche et se rétrécit de façon à s'adapter exactement à la dimension du support et dans le cas o l'on traite plu- sieurs morceaux de boyaux de section différente, on obtient un calibre uniforme et égal au support et plus étroit qu'avant l'opération. La soudure des bouts de boyaux-s'opère automatique- ment par le fait du rétrécissement et du tannage et le joint est remarquablement solide. Le boyau séché est prêt à l'usage.
