Friction clutch for dairy machines *
This invention relates to a friction clutch device for dairy machines, in particular for cream separators, churns, etc. Its purpose is to achieve a clutch device of simple and robust construction, interposed between the control pulley, or driving pulley, of the machine in question and its driving shaft, so as to obtain a progressive drive from this shaft to the using a single pulley and is said without having to resort to the use of an idle pulley cooperating with the commando pulley
For this purpose, the friction clutch device) object of the invention,
is characterized in that the control shaft of the machine is provided with a part

conical on which fits a conical hub clamping support .sa control pulley, this hub being able to be moved axially on the shaft by the operation of a nut so as to allow the progressive tightening of the cone, with which it is provided , on the cone formed by 11 trees.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the control shaft has a conical part between two circular parts serving as rolling surfaces for the hub and the latter is provided at one end with a ball thrust against which acts. a nut mounted on the threaded end of the control shaft, a nut -which is united with the hub from the point of view of axial displacement 'by a second nut operating the setting of the pulley on the hub and serving simultaneously as a return member effecting the axial displacement of the hub corresponding to the disengagement -
The anointed drawing shows, by way of example,
a device constructed according to the invention
Figure 1 gives a longitudinal section of the clutch and Figure 2 an exterior view.
The apparatus shown comprises a hollow steel shaft 1, drilled in its entire length so as to present at one end, a cavity 3 through which it can be slid on the control shaft of the operating machines. The cavity 2 is extended, inside the artery 1, by a duct 3 serving, as will be indicated later, as a lubrication duct The hollow shaft 1 is provided, at its end provided with the cavity 2, a notch 4. allowing it to be fixed to the shaft of the machine being operated. Optionally, this notch can be replaced by a tax hole * 'die 5 enabling the device to be assembled with the control shaft actuated by means of a pressure screw,

of a certain limit with respect to the threaded end 9.
On the other hand, from the longitudinal duct 3 start transverse ducts 25 allowing the oil distributed in the duct 3 by the lubricator 23 to be projected onto the cylindrical surfaces 6 and 7.
The device described works as follows *
The device being fixed by the shaft 1 on the control shaft of the machine to be actuated, the control pulley of the machine is slid on the hub 10 and is blocked on the latter by the tightening of the nut 13 .
If, then, the handwheel 22 is rotated so as to unscrew the nut 20 until it is brought against the washer.
24, this nut drives, by its flange 19, engaged under the nut 13, the assembly to the hub in the direction indicated by the arrow 26 so that the conical surfaces 8 and 14 of the shaft 3 and of the hub 10 are slightly distant from each other as shown in the drawing Under these conditions, if the pulley carried by the hub 10 is rotated, it rotates freely with this hub on the cylindrical surfaces 7 and 6 which to it. tighten support, thus making the office of an idle pulley
To cause the progressive drive of the control shaft of the machine, it suffices, then,
to turn the handwheel 22 slightly so as to move the nut 20 on the threaded part 9 so that this nut 20 exerting a thrust on the flange 19 on the ball bearing 18, and by the latter on the washer 16, the hub moves in a direction opposite to that indicated by the arrow 26. The conical surfaces 8 and 14 are thus gradually brought into contact which determines the progressive movement of the shaft 1 and consequently of the tree @
