ATTACHE CAPO
La présente invention a pour objet un attache- capot qui est essentiellement caractérisa par ce fait qu'il comporte un crochet, monté sur un axe tourillonnant' dans les parties ouvrantes du capot, et sur lequel est calée une poignée de manoeuvre extérieure au dit capot;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

CAPO TIE
The present invention relates to a hood fastener which is essentially characterized by the fact that it comprises a hook, mounted on a journaling pin 'in the opening parts of the hood, and on which is wedged an operating handle external to said hood. ;
this hook engages, by its end cut in the form of a cam, in a keeper which is integral with the part: fixed to the cover and contains a spring latch which is moved, against the action of this spring, by the part cam-shaped rocket 'and engages under the

tion of said spring in a notch of said hook, to lock the latter in the closed position.
In the preferred embodiment of the hood clip of the invention, the pin on which the hook is mounted rotates gently within an eccentric bush passing through an opening in the hood in which it can be rotated. be turned angularly by hand and fixed in any desired orientation by a clamping nut and a Grover washer, to adjust the clamping action exerted by the hook on the spring latch which is preferably constituted by a connecting rod which is subjected to the action of an adjustable tension spring.
In order to clarify ideas, there will be described above, with reference to the accompanying drawing and by way of example, an embodiment of the hood clip forming the subject of this invention.
FIG 1 shows in front elevation a portion of the cover provided with the device of the invention,
Fig. 2 is an interior view showing the bonnet fastener in partial section.
Fig 3 is a transverse vertical section along A-A of fi g. 2
Fig. 4 is a transverse vertical section on a smaller scale showing the device of the invention applied to a motor vehicle hood, insi gu * it is shown in the attached drawing, the hood fastener of the invention comprises a hook 1 cut from a steel jplan in the form shown in fig 2, and fixed, by means of a nut 2 and a washer 3, on a square bearing 4, of a shaft 5 which, mounted in the movable part 6 of

hood as it airs. explained below,
is integral with a crank 7 disposed on the outside of the cover and intended, by a conveal angular displacement, to bring the hook 1 into the open and closed positions respectively shown in phantom and in solid lines in fig 2,
In this last position, the hook 1 is engaged in an opening 8 of a metal part 9 rigidly fixed to the chassis 10 of the vehicle and is' locked by a ball 11 which, movable vertically 'in a housing'
12 of the fixed part 9, has been raised, during the introduction of the hook 1 in the opening 8,
by a ramp 13 formed by the upper edge of this hook and re-tinned under the faction of a spring 14 in a notch 15 of said hook as can be seen clearly in fig 2.
Referring to freezes!) 2 and 3, it can be seen that in this position the hook 1 ensures the absolute fixity of the closure of the cover, since * !! is; retained .. in the transverse direction * by its engagement in the opening 8 and. in the vertical direction by the pressure exerted on the said hook by means of the ball 11 subjected to the inaction of the spring 14, the tension of which can be adjusted at will, by means of a screw 16 closing ', at its: upper part the housing 12 of the fixed part 8.
It will be understood, just as this ball 11 also constitutes a locking member which opposes the accidental return of the hook 1 and, consequently, the untimely opening of the cover,
The shaft 5 integral with the control crank ?, and on which the hook 1 is fixed, is frictionally journaled

soft in the eccentric bore 17 of a sleeve 18 which freely passes through an opening 19 of the cover 6 and is made integral with a Grover washer 21 of the latter by the tightening, by means of a nut 20 /, of the wall movable of said oapot against a base 22 of the eccentric sleeve 18.
It will be understood that it is possible, by slightly loosening the nut 20, to impart to the eccentric bush 18 an angular displacement inside the opening 19 of the cover and to fix this bush in any desired orientation. this arrangement therefore makes it possible to modify, at will, the position of the center of the shaft 5 to thus adjust the action exerted by the ramp 13 of the hook 1 on the ball 11 and consequently to always ensure the tightening ,, - energetic closure
The construction arrangements described are, of course, given only by way of example, the shapes, materials, and dimensions of the constituent parts as well as the details of execution can be modified without in any way changing the invention.
