Accordingly, the invention relates to an orthopedic hand bandage, which is characterized in that it comprises a glove of which at least two fingers are contiguous and joined to each other by a detachable fastening link.

The invention also relates to a use of the orthopedic bandage according to the invention defined above, as well as to a method for bandaging a hand affected by a lesion.

Detailed Description of the Invention By definition, the orthopedic bandage concerned by the present invention has the essential function of protecting a hand suffering from a local lesion, such as edema, injury, inflammation or any other affection or local handicap. In the bandage according to the invention, the glove is intended to be fitted on the hand and for this purpose it comprises a sleeve extended by fingers. Typically, the sleeve is designed to cover the palm and dorsal side of the hand, usually at least down to the wrist, although this is not a necessity for the invention. Alternatively, the sleeve can extend beyond the wrist and cover at least part of the forearm. The glove usually comprises five fingers, corresponding respectively to the five fingers of the hand. This is not, however, a prerequisite for the definition of the invention, the glove being able, for example, to combine two to four fingers and an opening for the other finger or fingers, in the manner of a mitten. It is preferred, however, that the glove has at least four fingers corresponding to the index, middle, ring and little fingers, respectively. Gloves with five fingers, corresponding respectively to the five fingers of the hand, are especially preferred. In the case of a five-finger glove, this can be a glove suitable for the left hand or a glove suitable for the right hand. In this type of glove, the thumb of the glove is in opposition to the other fingers. Alternatively, the glove can be a universal glove, suitable for both the left hand and the right hand. The dimensions of the glove according to the invention are not critical for the definition of the invention. It is thus possible to provide gloves of different sizes, corresponding respectively to children, to adults with thin hands or to adults with large hands, without departing from the scope of the present invention. In the bandage according to the invention, at least two fingers of the glove are contiguous and united to each other. It can be index and middle finger, or middle finger and ring finger, or ring finger and little finger. The two fingers are united or linked to each other by a detachable attachment means. This fixing means can be a weld, a seam or a gluing (illustrative list, not exhaustive). The term “detachable” means that this fixing means can be omitted to free the fingers. In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the fastening link comprises a rigid tab interposed between the two fingers and fixed to them. The rigidity of the tongue prevents the two fingers from moving and thus reinforces their immobilization. The width of the tongue must be sufficient to allow it to be severed with a sharp tool, for example a pair of scissors, without damaging the wall of the fingers of the glove. As long as this condition is met, it is preferred that the width of the tongue is small. Widths greater than 0.2 mm and less than 5 mm are suitable, with widths of 0.5 to 3 mm being preferred. In a particular embodiment of the invention, the glove comprises at least four fingers corresponding respectively to the index, middle, ring and little fingers of the hand and more than two fingers of said glove are contiguous. The material of the glove is not critical for the definition of the invention. It must be a flexible material. Flle is advantageously a flexible and elastically extensible fabric. The choice of optimum fabric qualities, including its elastic characteristics, can be determined by a technician normally experienced in the bandaging industry. Preferably, a fabric is selected which is elastically stretchable in two orthogonal directions. The fabric can for example be a silk, cotton or polyester crepe. The fastening link of the fingers is preferably made of a non-extensible material, advantageously rigid. In the case of polyester, the glove can be obtained by thermoforming.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, each finger of the glove has an annular cutout area, made of an inextensible material. This annular zone is intended to be cut to allow the finger to be removed from the glove and to release the finger. It is advantageously located at the level of the junction of two phalanges. It is preferably located at the intersection of the finger and the palm of the glove.

The glove thus obtained was then put on the injured hand, so that the little finger and ring finger of the hand were immobilized, while that the thumb, index and middle fingers of the hand have remained valid and mobile.
