MACHINE HYDROELECTRIQUE FLOTTANTE
- une grande fragilité de construction en général, ou la présence de haubans perturbateurs de flux, ce qui dégrade le rendement ;
[0020] Des formes d'exécution particulières de l'invention comprennent en outre les caractéristiques techniques suivantes, prises individuellement ou selon une combinaison quelconque : - ladite machine est configurée pour, que ledit axe, positionné en fonctionnement perpendiculairement au flux d'eau, soit maintenu hors de l'eau ;
- en coupe longitudinale, les aubages sont paraboliques, rectilignes ou à ligne trapézoïdale ; - les aubages sont essentiellement parallèles à l'axe et disposés sur un cylindre virtuel de rayon donné, et de préférence identique pour tous les aubages ;
- dans le cas où tous les aubages sont équidistants de l'axe, l'angle formé, dans un plan perpendiculaire à l'axe, par ce dernier avec les deux points d'intersection dudit cylindre virtuel avec la surface de l'eau est compris entre 120[deg.] et 170[deg.] ;
- les profils des aubages sont biconvexes symétriques ;
- les profils des aubages sont des profils selon la nomenclature NACA à 4 chiffres qui décrivent la géométrie du profil. Ceux-ci utilisent la longueur de la corde de l'aile comme unité ; la corde est le segment de droite qui joint le bord d'attaque au bord de fuite. Le premier chiffre donne la cambrure du profil en pourcentage de la longueur de la corde. Le second chiffre donne la position de la cambrure maximale en dixièmes de la corde. Les deux derniers chiffres donnent l'épaisseur maximale du profil en pourcentage de la corde ;
- la machine comprend entre 2 et 12 aubages répartis régulièrement autour de l'axe du rotor ; - la structure flottante comprend au moins deux flotteurs reliés à un câble d'amarrage ;
Description détaillée de l'invention
FLOATING HYDROELECTRIC MACHINE
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates to a floating hydrogenerator, also called a hydraulic generator, capable of developing high powers, typically greater than 100-200 W and intended to be moored in the course of a river or stream. a river whose current and draft are sufficient or at the seaside, to take advantage of the energy of tides or swells, for example.
[0002] Hydraulic technology is particularly suited to the economic development framework of developing countries having, on the one hand, a large and technically interesting hydroelectric network and, on the other hand, an appropriate energy context, such as the need for decentralized rural electrification of villages scattered over a vast territory (as for example in the Democratic Republic of Congo). In this respect, the above-mentioned technology is reliable, easily manageable locally and makes it possible to satisfy the basic domestic electricity needs of a rural population.
Technological background and state of the art
By 1925, the French engineer Darrieus filed a patent concerning a vertical axis wind turbine rotor (see for example FR-A-604 390). The Darrieus wind turbine is composed of n blades (n whole) with a minimum of 2 blades, having a symmetrical aerodynamic profile. This profile is similar to the NACA profiles listed, universally known and used today.
The peculiarities of wind turbines type Darrieus can be summarized as follows:
- they have torque motor almost the entire circumference of the rotor (360 [deg.]), regardless of the direction of the wind; they have only one direction of rotation and have the peculiarity of not being able to start alone; their axis is always vertical. To achieve incidences of interesting speeds, that is to say, productive engine torque, it is necessary that the Darrieus rotor reaches an appreciable speed. The Darrieus rotor has the reputation of turning very fast (for example 80 revolutions / minute for a diameter of 8 meters), which makes it possible to reduce the torque. The performance of these machines, which has been particularly successful in Canada, however, is lower (by a few%) than that of three-axis horizontal wind turbines mass production nowadays. The major defects of these rotors are therefore:
- a great fragility of construction in general, or the presence of flux disruptive stay cables, which degrades the yield;
- the absence of automatic start; a yield of a few percent below the three-bladed rotors.
These defects have led the manufacturers to abandon projects Darrieus vertical axis wind turbines in favor of conventional wind turbines. Wind turbines type Darrieus have been the subject of recent (patent) applications, such as for example WO-A-01/23758 or US 6,364,609 B1. [0011] In hydraulics, a few attempts of rotors Darrieus uprights laid in a river were also tested about ten years ago. These Darrieus rotors did not exceed 6 meters in diameter for 3 meters of draft. In addition, the rotor was cantilevered in the water flow, as is the case, for example, in the case of vertical propeller rotors for maneuvering tugs in the ports.
Hydraulic rotors have kept the major defects of wind turbines Darrieus, namely the fragility of construction preventing reaching and exceeding powers of 100 kW. In addition, the vertical axis rotor requires as expected an electric starter, because these rotors never start alone.
CA-A-2 532 734 patent application by Peter A. Stabins discloses a hydro-tidal turbine system comprising multiple sections of Darrieus type turbines connected in series along a single horizontal axis. The Darrieus blades are elongated, rectangular, perpendicular to the flow and have a profiled section of aircraft wing. The vanes of each Darrieus section are offset from the vanes of the other sections, reducing the typical torque momentum of a Darrieus turbine while maintaining the simplicity of the straight Darrieus blades as well as the ability to generate power at the same time. from different flow directions and a high rotation speed. Such a system is used in bidirectional flows of tidal areas or provided by one or more flow lines.
In this case, the turbine is completely immersed in the flow. Another very recent application, from the same applicant, describes the same turbine configuration Darrieus but with the particularity that the turbine is raised so that an upper part, where the blades are moving directly opposite the current, is found in the air, above the water level. This type of configuration has the advantage of allowing the automatic start of the turbine.
In both cases mentioned above, the turbine is anchored in the ground by means of supports of the horizontal axis.
Aims of the invention
The invention aims to provide a floating hydrogenator that allows to overcome the disadvantages of the state of the art.
In particular, the invention aims to provide a floating hydrogenerator configured to provide suitable protection against the waste carried by the current such as tree trunks.
The invention also aims to provide a solution to maintain the multiplier and the alternator of the machine out of the water stream.
Summary of the invention
The present invention relates to a hydroelectric machine comprising at least one rotor provided with an axis and a plurality of blades having an airfoil or aerodynamic wing profile, that is to say a Darrieus-type rotor, coupled to a multiplier and connected to an alternator for converting the mechanical energy of a water flow into electrical energy, characterized in that the axis of the rotor is horizontal and cooperates with integral bearings of a floating structure that can be moored during operation. This Darrieus horizontal-axis configuration has the important advantage of being able to maintain the rotor stably, isostatically on two supports and eliminates the overhang of vertical axis Darrieus machines.
Particular embodiments of the invention further comprise the following technical characteristics, taken individually or in any combination: - said machine is configured so that said axis, positioned in operation perpendicular to the water flow, be kept out of the water;
- In longitudinal section, the blades are parabolic, rectilinear or trapezoidal line; the vanes are essentially parallel to the axis and arranged on a virtual cylinder of given radius, and preferably identical for all the vanes;
in the case where all the vanes are equidistant from the axis, the angle formed, in a plane perpendicular to the axis, by the latter with the two points of intersection of said virtual cylinder with the surface of the water is between 120 [deg.] and 170 [deg.];
the profiles of the vanes are biconvex symmetrical;
- the profiles of the blades are profiles according to the 4-digit NACA nomenclature which describe the geometry of the profile. These use the length of the wing string as a unit; the rope is the straight segment that joins the leading edge to the trailing edge. The first digit gives the camber of the profile as a percentage of the length of the rope. The second digit gives the position of maximum camber in tenths of the string. The last two digits give the maximum thickness of the profile as a percentage of the string;
the machine comprises between 2 and 12 vanes regularly distributed around the axis of the rotor; the floating structure comprises at least two floats connected to a mooring cable;
- The machine comprises a plurality of rotors, arranged in line and common axis, the blades of any rotor being offset by a determined angle, possibly variable, compared to the blades of the previous or next rotor.
Brief description of the figures
[0021] Figure 1 shows an axial sectional view of a first preferred embodiment of hydroelectric machine according to the present invention, comprising 3 parabolic blades.
FIG. 2 represents a perspective view of the hydroelectric machine of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 represents a sectional view of a second preferred embodiment of a hydroelectric machine according to the present invention, comprising 4 aerodynamic, symmetrical, straight and equidistant vanes of the axis ([delta]: center angle formed by the surface of the water with the circle of vanes; [omega]: angular velocity of the machine; V: velocity of the flow ).
Detailed description of the invention
The machine 1 according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in section in Figure 1 and in perspective in Figure 2. The rotor has in this case a horizontal axis 2 and three blades 3 , of longitudinal parabolic section. The machine 1 is floating, in that the axis 2 of the rotor is placed on bearings 5 integral floats 4. The axis 2 is extended by a mechanical multiplier 7 and an alternator 8. Note that the machine 1 has a rotor totally different from the Darrieus hydraulic rotors according to the state of the prior art. Not only does it have a horizontal axis 2 but also the machine is configured to have only a fraction of a wet arc, so that the axis (or shaft) 2 is maintained above the surface water 10.
According to the invention, this wet arc fraction is therefore always below 180 [deg.] (160 [deg.]] For example). Practically, this characteristic is obtained by sufficiently raising the bearings 5 with respect to the upper surface of the floats 4. The productive torque blades 3 have a parabolic shape in FIGS. 1 and 2. Other possible shapes will be imagined without hardly by the skilled person, such as straight blades, as in Figure 3, or in a trapezoidal line. The Applicant has calculated that the horizontal arrangement of the axis 2 allows a drastic reduction in the torque of the machine (typically two to three times), at equal power and for the same bearing surface, compared to a Darrieus machine. vertical axis, according to the state of the art.
This allows for lighter multipliers. This characteristic also makes it possible to constantly have the multiplier and the alternator out of the flow.
In addition, the machine is floating and follows the course of the river or, at sea, tides, swells, etc., regardless of variations in the water level. The machine is then moored by cable 6 to the firm ground (bank, etc.).
In order to increase the regularity of the torque, it is advantageous to increase the number of rotor modules, each rotor module being offset from the previous by a determined angle, suitably selected (not shown). In addition to the aforementioned advantages, the floating machine according to the invention has a decisive advantage over the presence of floating waste (eg tree trunks). In the case of a hydraulic Darrieus rotor with vertical or horizontal axis, fully or partially immersed, according to the state of the art, as for example in documents CA-A-2 532 734 and CA-A-2 547 748, the axis of the machine is always in the water. In this case, when a floating waste such as a tree trunk enters the machine, the risk that the axis breaks is very large, the trunk producing a locking torque between the axis and a blade.
In addition, the application CA-A-2 532 734 proposes, according to an alternative embodiment, blades retained by discs without axis. In this case, there will be a lot of difficulty in transmitting the engine torque. It is therefore a precarious and unreliable assembly. The solution recommended by the present invention in the form of a machine whose axis is not immersed greatly reduces the risk of taking waste such as tree trunks between a vane and the axis of the machine. This ensures a significant operational safety.
