Molecule incorporating CALCIUM (Cal VITAMIN D and VITAMIN K for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis as well as for the prevention of vascular calcification and for the prevention of calcification of articular cartilage.
The present invention relates to a molecule that provides the consumer with CALCIUM, VITAMIN D and VITAMIN K, elements necessary for healthy and strong bones. This molecule will be used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, as well as for the prevention of vascular calcification and for the prevention of calcification of articular cartilage.
Enrichment with Calcium (Ca) is by Calcium Carbonate (CaC [theta] 3) Calcium Lactate (C6H14Ca06) Calcium Citrate (Cl2H10Ca3 [theta] 14) or any other source or origin or mixtures .
The enrichment of Vitamin D is in the form of Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) which promotes the absorption of calcium by the intestine. The enrichment of vitamin K is done with Phylloquinone Kl or Menadione K2 or other commercial denominations of vitamins Kl, K2, K3, K4. The main role of vitamin K is to participate in the activation (carboxylation) of bone proteins, Osteocalcin (OC), Matrix Gla Protein (MGP), and others. The role of osteocalcin is to fix the circulating calcium in the blood (serum calcium) and transport it and crystallize it on the bone.
The role of the Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) is to inhibit the deposition of calcium on the walls of blood vessels, (atherosclerotic plaques) and cartilage joints. 40% of the weight of the human skeleton is composed of calcium, 99% of the calcium found in the human body is stored in the bones and teeth, the remaining 1% is in the blood and tissues, this free blood calcium participates in mechanisms allowing blood to clot, muscles to contract and nerves to convey messages. The Recommended Daily Intake (RDA) for elemental calcium (Ca ++) is between 800 and 1200 mg per day, equivalent to four to five large glasses of milk.
It is in his diet and especially in dairy products that the person will find the calcium that is necessary but it is not always possible the contribution is through supplementation.
Vitamin D (called antirachitic) is produced in the body by exposure of the skin to the sun. The RDA is 5 micrograms (200 IU) up to 20 micrograms (800 IU). In order for the body to produce enough vitamin D to assimilate the calcium it has drawn from food, it would be necessary that at least the arms and legs be exposed to the sun for a few long minutes each day, something that is impossible in cold countries, which also have little sunshine. As a result without the vitamin D, the calcium that the person will draw in his food or supplementation can be assimilated only very partially.
Calcium alone, even if it is consumed in large quantities without vitamin D, can not be absorbed or used by the body. Vitamin deficiency
D will have adverse effects.
Vitamin K not only protects the integrity of the skeleton, but is necessary for the activation (carboxylation) of bone proteins. The bone proteins are activated in proportion to the vitamin K present for their carboxylation.
Without the presence of vitamin K blood calcium can not be routed to the bones, it will remain too long in the blood vessels on which it will settle and form atherosclerotic plaques, a very serious consequence of the lack of vitamin K.
Osteoporosis has reached epidemic proportions worldwide, in some countries
Europeans, beyond the age of 50, one in three women and one home in eight suffer from this disease. Often the diagnosis is only after a bone fracture, painful and disabling.
In the European Union osteoporosis is a major public health problem, the cost is several billion euros per year, and this problem is only increasing with the doubling of the population over 60 years .
Physiologically in the human, the bone capital reaches its maximum level (Peak) at the age of 25 years. We must keep this bone capital as long as possible.
Vitamin-calcium supplementation is imperative. The molecule composed of Calcium, Vitamin D and K, offers the consumer a very effective protection.
It offers: CALCIUM, necessary for bone mineralization, VITAMIN D, necessary for the absorption of calcium by the body, VITAMIN K, necessary for the optimal carboxylation (activation) of proteins
(Osteocalcin and Matrix Gla Protein) the first routes calcium to the bones, and the second prevents the formation of calcium deposits on the blood vessels and on the cartilage of the joints.
