<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

MECHANICAL VENTILATION UNIT The invention relates to a mechanical ventilation unit for discharging air or other gases, usually used in the roof of a veranda, comprising a housing provided with an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening, which both openings can be closed by means of of a hinged valve, both driven by a separate motor or plunger, and preferably comprising a tangential or roller fan inside the housing that allows to suck in air or gases through the air inlet opening and to blow them out again via the air outlet opening.
DE 38 28 852 describes a ventilation device that can be used both in a window and in a facade construction. The ventilation device is provided with a multifunctional housing which at the same time is designed as a space in the form of a rolling slag. A ventilation fan and weather protection are provided in this roller slag. In this ventilation device, only an outer valve and no inner valve is provided. A grille is provided on the inside of the ventilation device.
With this ventilation device it is not possible to make it adjustable depending on the climate conditions outside and inside (temperature, humidity, gas concentration, etc.), the occupancy rate in the room, etc. This problem is partially solved in US 1,828,016. This patent application describes an automatic ventilation unit for a kitchen. The inlet opening and outlet opening of this ventilation unit are limited by means of ventilation slats. The movement of the ventilation slats and the fan can be controlled by means of a thermostat.
However, the thermostat that is used for this is fully mechanical, so that it is not possible to use extra

to build or couple sensors m in order to control the ventilation unit depending on several factors. Furthermore, systems already exist which are provided with an inner valve for closing the air inlet opening and an outer valve for closing the air outlet opening. A disadvantage of these mechanisms is that the flow rate supplied by the built-in fan is limited by the shape of the inner element and the nature of the valve that closes the air inlet and / or outlet opening.
An additional disadvantage of these mechanical ventilation units is that the service life of the valve motors and the fan as a result of operating conditions that are not in accordance with or outside the technical specifications of the valve motors and / or fan (such as the operating time, the control, the prevailing climatic conditions within the ventilation unit, ...) is strongly limited.
The object of the invention is to provide a mechanical ventilation unit which does not have the aforementioned disadvantages.
The object of the invention is achieved by providing a mechanical ventilation unit for discharging air and / or gases, comprising a housing provided with an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening and comprising a fan inside the housing that allows air or gases to be passed through the air inlet opening to suck in and blow it out again via the air outlet opening, wherein a hinged inlet valve is provided to close the air inlet opening, and a hinged outlet valve is provided to close the air outlet opening, and both the inlet and outlet valve and the fan be controlled via a built-in electronic print in the ventilation unit.

In a preferred embodiment of a mechanical ventilation unit according to the invention, said inlet valve and outlet valve are each driven by a stepping motor. In a preferred embodiment of a mechanical ventilation unit according to the invention, said fan operates tangentially.
The ventilation unit is preferably further provided with means for reducing condensation in the ventilation unit.
The mechanical ventilation unit according to the invention is preferably provided in the roof of a veranda. This invention is further elucidated in the description of the mechanical ventilation unit below. In this description, reference numerals refer to the figures appended here, wherein: Figure 1 shows a cross-section of the invention, the inlet outlet valve being open and the fan not being shown.
Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the invention, comprising the various components, except inter alia the stepper motors and the springs.
Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the invention, comprising an outside view of the invention after mounting on a roofing element. The invention relates to a mechanical ventilation unit for discharging air or other gases, usually used in the roof of a veranda, comprising a housing (1) provided with an air inlet opening (2) and an air outlet opening (3) which both openings can be closed by means of an inlet valve (4) and an outlet valve (5), both hinged and driven by a separate stepper motor ( 6) and (7), respectively, and comprising a tangential

fan (8) inside the housing (1) that allows to suck in air or gases through the air inlet opening (2) and to blow them out again via the air outlet opening (3).
The stepper motors (6) and (7) serve to open or close the inlet valve (4) and the outlet valve (5), respectively. The spring force generated via the springs (9) and (10) causes the inlet valve (4) and the outlet valve (5), respectively, to be permanently pressed against the shaft end of stepping motor (6) and (7), both during movement and standstill of the valves.
The mechanical ventilation unit is made up of an inner element (11) and an outer element (12) which are fixed against the inside and the outside of the roof covering element (14), which is located in the opening (13), by means of screw connections (20), which are arranged through the roofing element (14) and which allow to accommodate a varying thickness of the roofing element (14), the inner element (11) and the outer element (12) are attached to each other. An opening (15) bounded by the screw holes (21) is provided in the roofing element (14).
Both the inner element (11) and the outer element (12) are closed along the sides by end faces or end elements (16, 17, 18, 19). The end faces of the inner element, namely the end faces (18) and (19), are of screw connections (22) arranged through the covering element (14) connected to the end plates (16) and (17) respectively.
Sealing elements prevent precipitation from penetrating into the roof element (14) either via the outer valve (5) and inner valve (4), both in closed position, or via the connection of the outer element (12) and the inner element (11) to the roof element (14). the ventilated room and thus the service life of the fan (8) and valve motors (6) and (7) is not reduced.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In addition, a heat insulating element is provided against the outer valve (5) to prevent or delay condensation. In addition, a dew sensor is also built into the mechanical ventilation unit that allows to detect any condensation on the inside of the housing and, based on this detection, to control the fan and the valve motors in such a way that the formation and the presence of this condensation is eliminated.
The mechanical ventilation unit is produced in different lengths depending on the required ventilation flow rate produced by the fan (8).
Both the valves and the fan can be controlled manually or automatically via a built-in electronic print in the ventilation unit. The control can be done, among other things, on the basis of detection of one or more of the following parameters: air temperature, air humidity, solar radiation, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction , gas concentration, presence
