   Description.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1
-..VV..1 V.... 1 ....

   Description.

   Shaded cooling tray.

The present invention relates to a tray for serving cold drinks on a table, in particular a table partially or totally exposed to the effect of the sun.

We know that in many drinking places in hot countries or on private terraces, eg pleasure gardens or along swimming pools, it is particularly pleasant to have a cool drink, alcoholic or not, which may remain so for a reasonable period. In general, however, the drink heats up very quickly, especially if it is exposed to the sun. The presence of ice cubes is not always a solution since they can also melt quickly or since it is not desirable to dilute the drink with ice cubes of water which will melt.

The present invention aims to remedy this drawback.

The present invention therefore relates to a tray (see drawing point 1) for serving drinks which will remain fresh while being pleasantly installed in the sun.

According to the invention, there is provided a tray forming a base (1) which may have cavities (4) to accommodate the base of one or more glasses, said base being hollowed out and capable of containing ice cubes or a cooled liquid such as liquids. cooling system to keep drinks cool in a picnic cooler. These liquids accumulate cold and slowly restore significant freshness to the objects in contact, since they are of high calorific capacity.

The tray therefore has a hollow thickness containing said liquid in a hermetic or even sealed manner. In the case of ice cubes, the tray has a compartment (5) which can open or close to allow the cooled liquid or ice cubes to enter and remove them after use.

It will be understood that the underside (6) of the tray, in contact with its support, generally a table, will advantageously be insulating.

Still according to the invention, said plate serves as a base for an upright upright (2), preferably in its center, supporting a structure (3) of the parasol type and which thus covers, at least partially, the glasses placed on the plate, at a height varying p. e. from 20 to 50 cm, preferably about 30 cm. Larger dimensions can be provided depending on the size of the tray and the number of glasses to support.

 EMI2.1
 - .. VV..1 V .... 1 .... According to a variant, the upright or mast (2) can be removable, simply placed or fixed to a hole (7) provided in the tray.

This allows the stackability of the tray and the use without umbrella, for example if there is no sunshine but the effect of maintaining the freshness of the drink is always desired.

According to another variant, it is an upper part forming a parasol (3) which can be removable.

According to yet another variant, the tray and the parasol are integrated in one piece, for example by plastic molding. They can thus be made of PVC.

According to yet another variant, the end of the mast can be foldable (8) to orient it towards the sun and further protect the glasses of the tray against the effect of sunshine.

The "parasol" part can be designed as a miniature parasol. It can also be made of wood and fabric, straw, paper or plastic. The parasol part can be sort of disposable after a certain number of uses.

As with any parasol and any tray, advertising inscriptions can be supported by the object of the present invention.

The mast can have a certain flexibility. The parasol can be pierced in the center. Note that the mini-parasol of the tray will be less sensitive to wind thanks to its combination with a heavier base because it contains cooling elements (liquid or ice cubes).

Note that the above combination can also be used to protect a drink from atmospheric elements from above, p. e. snow or rain. If a liquid with high calorific capacity is used, it can also be used for other applications, in particular to keep the dish hot for hot drinks.

According to a preferred variant, the cooling elements are cooling blocks, p. e. parallelepiped, easily accessible on the market (for portable coolers) and which can be inserted in a support, for example between two plates, one of which, upper and in contact with the glasses, is thermal conductive and the other, at the base in contact with the table supporting the tray is more insulating.

The invention will be better understood on examining the attached drawing.
