<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Figuur 1 in perspectief, een zieht weergeeft van een planchet volgens de uitvinding, aangebracht in een bekleding met planchetten ;
Figuur 2 een kopaanzicht weergeeft volgens de pijl F2 in figuur 1 van het planchet volgens de uitvinding ;
Figuur 3 een kopaanzicht weergeeft van het profiel na extrusie dat wordt gebruikt voor het vervaardigen van het planchet van de figuren 1 en 2 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Figuur 4 een kopaanzicht weergeeft analoog aan dit van figuur 3, maar na het omplooien van de vleugels, voor het aanbrengen van het insectengaas ;
Figuur 5 een zicht in perspectief weergeeft van een planchet tijdens het aanbrengen van het insectengaas ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Plastic shelf and method for its manufacture. The present invention relates to a plastic shelf that has a portion that is provided with ventilation openings.
Such planchettes are used for covering walls and gutters, for example. The ventilation openings make it possible to ventilate the space between the shelves and the coated surface so that the wood to which the shelves are attached does not rot or mold.
In the known planchettes, however, insects can penetrate the aforementioned space through the ventilation openings.
The present invention has for its object to remedy this drawback and to provide a plastic shelf in which the penetration of insects into said space is prevented.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the shelf on the inside of the part which is provided with the ventilation openings comprises an insect screen.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the portion provided with the ventilation openings is a single-walled and located between two double-walled portions.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The insect mesh can be located at a small distance, for example 1 to 4 mm, from the back of the portion provided with the ventilation openings.
The portion provided with the vent openings preferably has an edge on either side of the vent openings on the back, while the portions located on either side of this portion have wings which are located with their free edges adjacent to the edges, while the insect mesh is a strip which is enclosed with each of its edges between such an edge and a wing.
This invention also relates to a method that is particularly suitable for manufacturing a shelf according to one of the previous embodiments.
This invention thus relates to a method for manufacturing a shelf from plastic, wherein a profile is extruded, after which ventilation openings are provided in a part, characterized in that during extrusion on the back of the part in which the ventilation openings are provided, two longitudinal edges are formed, and on the portions located next to the aforementioned portion, two wings directed towards each other are formed which extend opposite the edges and at a distance therefrom up to a distance from each other that is smaller than the distance between the edge, after which these wings are folded over until they come to lie with their edges beyond the edges, and after
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the installation of the ventilation openings,
a strip of insect gauze with its edges is arranged between the aforementioned folded wings and the edges.
To facilitate the folding of the wings, a weakening can be applied where it is necessary to fold.
The extruded profile is preferably formed such that the edges are directed obliquely away from each other towards the back, while the wings, after being folded over, separate towards the front of the profile.
With the insight to better demonstrate the characteristics of the invention, a preferred embodiment of a shelf and of a method for manufacturing it according to the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings, is described below as an example without any limiting character. in which :
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a shelf according to the invention arranged in a covering with shelves;
Figure 2 represents a front view according to the arrow F2 in Figure 1 of the shelf according to the invention;
Figure 3 shows an end view of the post-extrusion profile used for manufacturing the shelf of Figures 1 and 2;
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figure 4 shows an end view analogous to that of Figure 3, but after the wings have been folded, before applying the insect mesh;
Figure 5 shows a perspective view of a shelf during the application of the insect mesh;
Figure 6 shows an end view of another embodiment of a shelf according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows a part of a roof gutter covering consisting of a plastic shelf 1 with ventilation openings 2 between two traditional closed shelves 3 and 4, only a part of which is shown.
The closed shelves 3 and 4 are double-walled and have two parallel walls 5 and 6 connected to each other by partitions 7, a groove 9 being formed in one longitudinal side edge 8, while a laterally projecting tooth 11 on the other longitudinal side edge 10. is formed.
The shelf 1 with the ventilation openings 2 has a similar profile to the closed shelves 3 and 4 with the difference that the middle part is single-walled as shown in figures 1 and 2.
This shelf 1 thus consists of a profile 12 of extruded plastic with a single-walled middle section 13 and double-walled edge sections 14 and 15 on either side thereof, with the longitudinal side edge 8 of
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the edge portion 14 is formed, against the back, a groove 9 and a laterally projecting tooth 11 is formed on the longitudinal side edge 10 of the edge portion 15, against the back.
The ventilation openings 2 are arranged in the middle part 13 and are transversely directed slots of equal length which are provided at regular intervals from one another, for example approximately the same distance as the width of the slots, over the entire length of the shelf 1 by punching.
The tooth 11 of the shelf 1 is slid into the groove 9 of the shelf 3, while the tooth 11 of the shelf 4 is slid into the groove 9 of the shelf.
An insect screen 16 is provided on the back of the middle section 13.
This insect mesh 16 is a strip which is encased with its longitudinal edges between edges 17 on the middle section 13 and wings 18 which connect to the back wall 19 of the edge sections 14 and 15.
This middle part 13 thus has on both sides of the row of ventilation openings 2 and on its back side an edge 17, the two edges 17 of this part being directed obliquely away from each other.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The wings 18, on the other hand, move away from one another and are situated with their free edges just next to the edges 17, on the side of the edge portion 14 or 15, so that the edges of the insect mesh 16 arranged between them are retained and the insect mesh 16 between the edges 17 are clamped at a small distance from the back of the middle part 13.
Preferably, the edges 17 and the wings 18 come together or so close together that the edges of the strip of the insect mesh 16 are somewhat sandwiched between them.
Aeration of the space between the shelves 1, 3 and 4 and the roof gutter or wall is possible through the ventilation openings 2 without insects being able to penetrate into this space. Because the insect mesh 16 is nevertheless situated at a small distance from the back of the middle part 13, practically its entire surface can be used for ventilation.
The shelf is manufactured as follows: The profile 12 is extruded in the form as shown in figure 3, this is with the wings 18 parallel to the middle part 13. Between each of these wings 18 and the edge part 14 or 15 on which the wing 18 , as shown, a weakening 20 may be provided to facilitate folding, although it is not absolutely necessary.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
In a subsequent operation, the wings 18 are rotated toward the middle portion 13 until their edges lie just beyond an edge 17, as shown in Figure 3.
After this, the ventilation openings 2 are punched in the middle part 13.
Finally, a strip of insect mesh 16, preferably made of fiberglass and with meshes which are preferably smaller than 4 by 4 mm, for example approximately 1, 5 x 1, 5 mm, with its edges between the edges 17 and the folded wings 18 applied.
For this purpose, as shown in Figure 5, the profile 12 is slid over a widening form 21 with dovetail-shaped cross-section which is situated between the wings 18 and resiliently pushes these wings 18 apart.
The strip of insect mesh 16 is unwound from a roll 22 and guided via a sloping surface 23 over the mold 21 to the front end of the profile 12 where the strip is held.
As the profile 12 is displaced and thus the wings 18 are pushed apart, the strip of insect mesh 16 is guided by the shape 21 against the back of the middle part 13, with its edges over the edges 17.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
Once past the mold 21, the wings 18 spring back to their initial position, clamping the edges of the strip between these wings 18 and the edges 17.
The ventilation openings 2 do not necessarily have to be slots. They can have any shape.
Also the profile 12 of the shelf 2 with ventilation openings 3 does not necessarily have to be as described above.
For example, the shelf 1 can be multiple, which means that it is in one piece, but because of grooves 24 formed at the front, it nevertheless has the appearance of several individual shelves slid together with tongue and groove.
Such a multiple shelf 1, which has the appearance of three individual shelves, is shown in Figure 6, wherein a longitudinal portion representing an individual shelf is provided with ventilation openings 2 and two other longitudinal portions represent closed individual shelves.
An insect screen 16 is provided on the back of a single-walled middle portion 13 of the portion with the ventilation openings 2 in the same way as described above for the shelf 1 which represents only an individual shelf.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
The portion with the vent openings can be an extreme portion and, as shown in Figure 5, be provided with a groove 9 in its longitudinal edge 8, while a tooth 11 is formed on the longitudinal edge 10 on the opposite edge of the multiple shelf.
The shelf 1, both singular as in Figs. 1 and 2, and plural, as in Fig. 6, does not necessarily have a groove 9 and tooth 11. The shelf 1 can, for example, have a tooth on either side or a groove on either side, wherein then, for example, a shelf with grooves can be coupled to a shelf with teeth.
The edges 17 and wings 18 need not necessarily be inclined as described above and shown in the figures.
The edges 17 may, for example, be directed perpendicularly to the back of the portion 13.
The invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and shown in the figure, but such a plastic shelf and method for manufacturing it can be realized in all shapes and sizes, without departing from the scope of the invention.
