<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Arrangement of a universal cross joint and a toothed wheel for a transmission"
The invention relates to an arrangement comprising a universal cross joint comprising a first joint fork which can rotate about a first axis of rotation, a second joint fork which can rotate around a second axis of rotation, and a cross joint by means of which the joint forks are connected so that they can be bent angularly with respect to each other, so that their axes of rotation can be subjected to angular movement, the arrangement also comprising a gear wheel for a transmission and which is fixedly connected in rotation to the first joint fork and is arranged coaxially with the axis of rotation of the latter,
around the center of the brace trim.
Arrangements of this type are mainly found on articulated transmission shafts, which are connected to at least one transmission. In particular in the case of agricultural machines, such as for example machines of the straw chopper type which can form pickers, the drive is carried out by means of articulated transmission shafts, which are connected to a transmission, on the input side, and a transmission, output side. The joint forks of the universal joints, on the side of the transmissions, are here each connected to a transmission pin projecting out of the transmission casings, and which inside the transmission, is produced in the form of a toothed wheel or is connected to such a gear.
In the case of machines of the straw chopper type, the supply of chopping product to the chopping system is carried out by a system
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
feeder, which includes driven upper and lower rollers. The feed system is driven by a drive and is arranged between two wheels of an axle. The lower rollers of the feed system are fixed in height, the upper rollers being adjustable in height according to the quantity of product to be chopped. The lower rollers are driven via a transmission which is driven by an articulated drive shaft.
The drive of the upper rollers is carried out in a corresponding manner, by means of another transmission, which is driven by another articulated transmission shaft. The two articulated transmission shafts are connected, on the drive side, to a transmission which is driven by a shaft of a tractor or of a self-propelled agricultural machine, or of a hydraulic motor. The transmissions for the drive of the rollers, the articulated drive shafts and the transmission, on the drive side, are mounted in common with the upper rollers and the lower rollers, between the drive wheels of the tractor or of the self-propelled agricultural machine. The lengths of the articulated drive shafts are therefore greatly limited.
The upper rollers must, however, be able to be adjusted in height over a wide range, so that this can result in large bending angles for the articulated drive shaft intended for driving the upper rollers. The life of the articulated drive shaft is greatly reduced.
The object of the present invention is to provide an arrangement formed by a universal cross-joint and a toothed wheel for a transmission, of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the necessary bending angles are smaller compared to the usual arrangements, this for use on an articulated drive shaft and for identical adjustment of the seal forks, transmission side.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the fact that,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in the direction of the second joint fork, the first joint fork turns, in the shape of a bell, into a cylindrical section in which are provided radially extending receiving bores intended for bearing bearings of the spider packing , and that the toothed wheel is disposed on the peripheral surface of the cylindrical section
In the case of the use of such an arrangement in a universal joint with a spider of an articulated transmission shaft, the universal joint with the arrangement in accordance with the invention is located inside the housing of a transmission. .
The distance between the centers of the universal joints of two universal joints of the articulated drive shaft is thereby increased, compared to a drive shaft articulated with universal joints of a usual arrangement, in which the centers of the universal joints are outside the transmissions. For the same parallel translation of the axes of rotation of the joint forks, on the transmission side, this results in lower bending angles for an articulated transmission shaft having an arrangement in accordance with the invention. The service life of such universal joints is increased thanks to the reduced bending angles thus produced.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the arrangement also comprises a transmission casing, in that the first joint fork has, apart from the second joint fork, a pin s extending along the first axis of rotation and mounted on a bearing in a bore of the transmission case, and in that the cylindrical section is mounted on a bearing in another bore of the transmission case. The joint fork is thus mounted on a bearing on both sides of the toothed wheel, in a transmission casing, so that the torques appearing in the bearings are as low as possible.
In order to seal the transmission against the outside, and, if necessary, integrate the seal lubrication system
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
universal to the lubrication system of the transmission, a seal is provided between the cylindrical section of the first seal fork and the second seal fork, or between the cylindrical section of the first seal fork and a section of 'shaft of the second seal fork, and another seal, between the cylindrical section of the first seal fork and the bore in which is mounted on the bearing the cylindrical section of the first seal fork.
According to a favorable embodiment, the seal between the cylindrical section of the first seal fork and the second seal fork, or between the cylindrical section of the first seal fork and a shaft section connected to the second joint fork, is formed by a bellows.
Preferred embodiments of the invention will be explained below, with reference to the appended drawings, which show:
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Fig. 1 is an arrangement in accordance with the invention on an articulated transmission shaft, in which the first seal fork is mounted on a bearing inside a transmission casing, and FIG. 2 a schematic representation of a feed system for a straw chopper which can form a pick-up, and comprising articulated transmission shafts comprising arrangements in accordance with the invention.
FIG. 1 shows an arrangement comprising a universal joint with cross 1 comprising a first joint fork 2, a second joint fork 3 and a cross joint 4, as well as a toothed wheel 5 which is arranged around the universal joint with cross 1. The first joint fork 2 is rotatably mounted around the first axis of rotation 6, and the second joint fork 3 around the second axis of rotation 7. The first joint fork 2 and the second joint fork 3 are connected to the means of the spider trim 4, so that they can be angled angularly with respect to each other; however, they are shown without being in an angled position relative to each other.
The spider trim 4 comprises a spider 8 with first trunnions 9 and second trunnions, the first trunnions 9 being located on a common axis 10 and the second trunnions on a common axis 11. The point of intersection of the two axes 10, it forms the center of the universal joint. The first pins 9 are rotatably mounted in the bearing bush 13, by means of rolling bodies 12. The bearing bushings 13 are arranged in receiving bores
14 which extend along the common axis 10 of
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
first journals 9 and radially with respect to the axis of rotation 6 of the first joint fork 2. The bearing bearings 13 are held in the receiving bores 14, by stop rings 15.
Similarly, the second journals are rotatably arranged, by means of rolling bodies, in bearing bearings 16, which are housed in receiving bores 17 of the second joint fork 3, the receiving bores 17 extending along the common axis 11 of the second journals, and radially with respect to the axis of rotation 7 of the second joint fork 3.
The first joint fork 2 has, remote from the second joint fork 3, a journal 18 which is mounted on the bearing, by means of a bearing 19, in a bore 20 of a transmission casing 21. From the pin 18, the first joint fork 2 continues in the shape of a bell, by a cylindrical section 22, in the direction of the second joint fork 3. On the outer surface of the cylindrical section 22, around the center of the universal joint , is arranged the toothed wheel 5 integral in rotation with the first joint fork 2. The median plane of the toothed wheel 5 is here arranged perpendicular to the second axis of rotation 7 and passes through the center of the universal joint.
On the continuation of the outer surface of the cylindrical section 22 is disposed a bearing 23, by means of which the first seal fork 2 is mounted on a bearing in a bore 24 of the transmission case 21. In the bore
24 of the transmission case 21 is arranged, towards the outside, a lip seal
25, in order to ensure a seal between the transmission casing 21 and the first seal fork 2, in the region of the bore 24. The second fork
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
seal 3 comes out of the transmission casing 21, through the bore 24, and is connected to a shaft section 26 of an articulated transmission shaft.
In order to guarantee total tightness of the interior of the transmission with respect to the exterior, there is provided a bellows 27, which is fixed, by means of clamps 44,45, on the one hand to the exterior surface. of the cylindrical section 22, which projects out of the bore 24, and on the other hand to the external surface of the second joint fork 3.
By means of a toothed wheel 28, here only partially shown, it is possible to drive the toothed wheel 5 and thus the first seal fork 2. The first seal fork 2 is rotatably mounted around the first axis of rotation 6, by means of the bearings 19, 23. By means of the cross-piece lining 4, the torques are transmitted to the second joint fork 3, which is rotatably mounted around the axis of rotation 7 which can undergo angular travel. As the center of the universal joint is inside the transmission casing 21, it is possible to obtain, for the same parallel offset of the first axis of rotation 6 with respect to another first axis of rotation of a second joint universal, smaller bending angles than in known conventional arrangements.
Figure 2 shows schematically a system for feeding a chopper that can form a pickup. The feed system is used to feed the chopping product to a chopping system. It includes two upper rollers 29.30 and two lower rollers 31.32. The upper rollers 29.30 are driven by an upper transmission 33, and the lower rollers 31, 32 by a transmission 34. The
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
two transmissions 33,34 are each driven by an articulated transmission shaft 35,36. The articulated transmission shafts 35, 36 are connected to a common transmission 37 which is driven by a drive 38.
The upper rollers 29, 30, the lower rollers 31, 32, the upper transmission 33, the lower transmission 34 and the articulated transmission shafts 35, 36 are arranged between wheels 39 of an agricultural machine here not shown. The transmission 37 is, in part, also arranged between the wheels 39. The upper rollers 29, 30 can be adjusted in height, depending on the quantity of product to be chopped. Due to the short distance between the upper transmission 33 and the transmission 37, only very short articulated transmission shafts can be used. As the upper rollers 29.30 must be adjustable in height over a fairly large range, this results in large bending angles for the articulated drive shaft 35.
Therefore, the articulated transmission shaft 35 comprises, between the upper transmission 33 and the transmission 37, arrangements according to the invention of a universal joint with a cross and a toothed wheel. The universal joints of the articulated transmission shaft 35 are arranged inside the transmissions 33,37, and made watertight towards the outside, by bellows 40,41. Since no adjustment is necessary between the lower transmission 34 and the transmission 37, and since no universal joints 42, 43 of the articulated transmission shaft 36 are made in large bending angles, a usual articulated drive shaft.
