<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

ANTI-THEFT DEVICE FOR EARTHMOVING MACHINES
The present invention relates to an anti-theft device for heavy vehicles, or alternatively earth-moving machinery such as a dredge or any other tracked or wheeled vehicle, said device comprising a body inserted in the hydraulic circuit of said vehicle capable of enabling control a member such as, for example, the tracks of said vehicle or any other operating member, said body being placed between the conventional supply pump for this circuit, a fluid reservoir and at least one hydraulic actuating member for said device.
As everyone knows, heavy vehicles or earth-moving vehicles with tracks or wheels, used on long-term construction sites, often remain on site day and night, even when they are not in use or during the hours of stoppage of work ( overnight, for example). This is to avoid their permanent displacement from the site to a garage more or less distant from the workplace. Consequently, it is necessary to provide, on each vehicle of this type, an anti-theft device which is simple to activate and deactivate, and which has characteristics of solidity and resistance to stresses perr. 1. eï: both to tolerate shocks, violent shocks or other shock that the site vehicle undergoes in operation.
This type of device must make it possible for unauthorized persons to be able to start the heavy vehicle to load it on another means of transport for example and bring it, unlawfully, to another place than the site.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an anti-theft device which can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
activated or deactivated simply and whose presence on the heavy vehicle cannot prevent its use, even potentially, when the device is deactivated.
These objectives, as well as others which will appear obvious to a person skilled in the art, are achieved by an anti-theft device according to the appended claims.
For a better understanding of $ 1. The present invention has been joined, by way of nonlimiting example, the following drawing, in which: FIG. 1 represents a side view of the device according to the invention; and FIG. 2 represents a front view of the device according to the invention; and FIG. 3 represents a sectional view along line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
If we refer to these figures, an anti-theft device generically designated by the reference 1 comprises a body or block 2 having a main portion 3 which extends beyond a hollow secondary portion 4. The portion 3 of the device shown in the figures has two main pipes 5, arranged in parallel planes and whose axes are parallel, said pipes being connected to the pumping member 6 of a hydraulic circuit which can allow, in a known manner by itself, the actuation of one or more of the members 7, such as the tracks of the vehicle, a bucket or any other operating member.
From each pipe 5, two pairs of conduits or channels 8 and 9 leave, also arranged in parallel planes or along parallel axes. The first
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
channel 8 connects the body 2 (or else its pipe
5) to a fluid reservoir 10 integrated into the hydraulic circuit mentioned above, while the second channel 9 connects said body (and the pipeline) to a corresponding member 7. The device shown in the figures provides anti-theft protection for two different bodies; however, the body 2 may have only a single line 5, a single channel 8 and a single channel 9, or a plurality of these elements, depending on the requirements of use.
Each set of channels 8, 9 and pipe 5, arranged in the same plane (or in any case, the plane in which said channels 8 and 9 start from the same pipe 5) allows the use of the device 1 as an anti-theft device for a corresponding organ.
Each pipe 5 is crossed perpendicularly by a cylindrical interception body 11, having at least one passage 12 (two in the figures), and having an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis W of said body. Each passage 12 can be arranged coaxially to a corresponding pipe 5 and thus allow the connection of the pump 6 to the reservoir 10; alternatively, it is possible to pivot the body 11 relative to the pipe 5 so as to close the latter and prevent said communication. The rotation of the body 11 occurs in a housing 13 of the portion 3 of the body 2 communicating with a housing 14 provided on the portion 4 of the latter.
In this housing 14 is arranged a conventional key or barrel locking member 15, of which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the cylinder 16, actuable by a key, is connected to an upper part 17 of the body 11. Facing this part 17, the body has an annular groove 18 receiving a conventional sealing element 20. The groove 18 also receives another sealing ring 21.
Advantageously, the locking device 15 is of the high security type (known per se) or else of the type resistant to perforation by drilling machine and, in general, to any attempted violation or forcing.
On the part 17 of the body 11, it is also possible to associate a magnetic member 21 cooperating with a reading member 22 of a known electric anti-theft circuit 23 (shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1) able to take up the rotation of the body II in the barrel 2 and deactivate or activate the anti-theft device 23 by acting on the electrical start-up members of the heavy vehicle or any other vehicle.
Part 17 is also provided with an anti-extraction collar 24 capable of preventing the withdrawal of the body 11 from the barrel 2.
As previously specified, each pipe 5 is connected to the pump 6 by a threaded end SA, itself being connected to a pipe 25 for connection to the pump. Similar conduits 26 and 27 connect each channel 8 and 9 to the corresponding member 7 and to the reservoir 10, the conduits 26 and 27 being connected to the threaded ends 8A and 9A of the corresponding channels.
The anti-theft device is used as follows.
In order to allow normal operation of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
vehicle or one of its operating members, the body 11 is positioned (by acting with a special key on the cylinder 16 of the barrel 15) so that each of its passages 12 is placed perpendicular to the pipe 5 correspondent; in other words, the body 11 is positioned so as to interrupt the communication between the end 5A and the end 8A of the body 2, and thus to interrupt the communication between the pump 6 and the reservoir 10.
When the horn 11 is placed in this first working position, the pump 6
EMI5.1
circulating fa (oi t. and under pressure (or circulating in a known manner) the fluid present in the conduit 27 and thus allows the operation of the member 7; it allows, for example, the operation of the tracks (of which the fluid returns to the reservoir in a known manner).
In order to prevent the functioning of the member 7, the body 11 rotates in the housing 13 so as to have each of its passages 12 coaxial with the corresponding pipe 5. In this case, the pressure prevailing in the conduit 27 is discharged into the conduit 26 connected to the reservoir 10 so that the member 7 can no longer function. Even if the pump 6 continues to operate, it produces no pressure effect on the fluid present in the duct 27 and does not

-Z't and, in this fact not circulate appropriately and, in this case, the member 7 is unusable (for example, the heavy vehicle can not be moved).
Thanks to the invention, there is provided an anti-theft device for manufacturing and implementing sin-ples, doni. action on the circuit

vehicle hydraulics cannot have any undesirable effects when using the work tool.
An application node of the invention has been described. However, other modes of application are possible from the above description: for example, each conduit 8 can be the simple extension of the corresponding pipe 5 and not be perpendicular thereto. These solutions must be taken into account in the context of
