: LUCHTVOCHTIGHEIDSKONTROLE EN MASSAGESYSTEEM.
1-
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
*Alle reeds bestaande systemen kunnen onmogelijk rechtstreeks met het lichaam belast worden daar ze een te kleine draagoppervlakte hebben. Ook het feit dat ze uit harde materialen zijn gemaakt zou een te grote belastende factor voor het lichaam zijn en zouden ze het lichaam beschadigen of irriteren. Hier is dan ook een midden nodig om deze nadelen op te vangen (inbouw in een kussen), wat ze dus ook gebruiken.
*Ook is er dikwijls geen rekening mee gehouden dat het systeem zo flexibel moet zijn zodat de eigenschappen van de zetel niet teniet worden gedaan. De eigenschappen van de zit worden dikwijls drastisch beïnvloed.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

EMI1.1
: HUMIDITY CONTROL AND MASSAGE SYSTEM.
1-
INFLUENCE OF PERFORMANCE, * The temperature control of the human body through prolonged forced contact with something.
* A massage effect of the body on the site of a prolonged contact of the body with an object.
* Solution to the perspiration problem resulting from a prolonged constant contact of a body with an object.
2- Known prior art of the invention.
Many people have the problem of a sweaty back when driving a car in hot weather. The driver is forced to always remain in the same position and concentrated. As a result, his tight posture in the car seat involves a sweaty and overheated back, which in turn creates a very uncomfortable and self-irritating feeling, quickly putting him in control of the steering wheel tired and unconcentrated. Due to this long-term contact of the body in a constant posture with the object, normal blood flow as well as ventilation is prevented at that location of the human body. This causes cramps and an excruciating feeling, first on the spot and afterwards cramps that spread over the entire body.
This condition is very stressful for the person in question and causes a fatigue with faster fatigue as a result.
People who have to sit in wheelchairs, office chairs and beds also have this problem. They are often forced by their handicapping or professional activity to sit or lie in a long, constant position. As a result, they have the major problem of insufficient cooling of their body or body parts with its unpleasant consequences (fatigue, troublesome feeling, unbearable heat, profuse sweating and even bedsores and injuries). Systems already exist to partially compensate for this, but they are insufficient.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
3- Disadvantages of the prior art.
The current systems are based on: * The existing systems consist of pearls that are bound together by a nylon thread. They provide a massage effect.
These pareis revolve around this nylon thread. This nylon thread can cause injuries. Also, due to the rotating effect of the pearls and its narrow openings, hair and sometimes other things are wrapped up and clamped with the consequences. PCT / US92 / 09853 has found a solution to this problem by putting it in a sleeve.
* the system to obtain a cooling or heating of the contact surfaces by means of a cooled or heated base. This happens in most cases with electrical elements. There are also means that influence this temperature with air, but always with an air circulation that does not give direct contact with the relevant contact surface. These systems are always built into a cover or cushion.
* The systems that provide an air circulation do this indirectly and ensure an insufficient air circulation that has direct contact with the body. By using a center between the air circulation and the body, this air can leave the center far too easily without, however, being in contact with the body. The synthetic materials that make up these centers (fabrics between and around cooler (heater) and body) have a great insulation factor and thus counteract the cooling but also the warming effect. Due to the use of centers, these centers now have direct contact with the body and there is no direct contact of the air with the body again.
Also, due to the fact that these systems are cushions, they very often affect the aesthetic aspect in a negative sense.
* All systems already delivering air to the cushion have a 'smooth' surface (EP0689786A) and only have openings on the surface.
These have the drawback that they are closed off when loading the body. This destroys their function, since air circulation or air circulation can no longer take place. Very often mechanical valves are provided for opening the air vents (eg US5.004, 294). Here, too, the openings remain on the surface and are immediately repelled by the body after being opened under load. Here, too, only air circulation remains possible in the system and not between the system and the body, in other words no air flow directly on the body.
* It is impossible for all pre-existing systems to be directly loaded on the body because they have too little bearing surface. Also, the fact that they are made of hard materials would be too much of a burden on the body and would damage or irritate the body. Here, therefore, a center is needed to absorb these disadvantages (installation in a cushion), whatever they use.
* Also, it is often not taken into account that the system must be so flexible that the properties of the seat are not destroyed. The properties of the seat are often drastically affected.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
4- Detailed description of the invention.
* A ventilation system is placed between the body and the object (chair, bed or other) (Fig. 1). This system is attached to the object (g) and is also easy to move.
* The source of air supply is created by a fan (a) or by an air conditioner (a) or drawn from a natural air stream. eg: in the car: o connection to an air conditioning system. c) connection to the ventilation system (fig5).
"through an opening to the outside (Fig. 2).
A collector is clamped through the window opening of the car. This has an opening towards the direction of travel and the speed of the car creates an air flow that is led through a channel to the system.
* The system {(Fig: 3) and (d)} consists of perforated air pipes {(Fig: 4) and (c)}, which are a short distance apart. The air pipes are provided with a relief, but in such a way that no enclosed spaces are created when the system is loaded. The space between these pipes and these reliefs in turn forms an opportunity to conduct the air from between the contact surface and the body.
* The supply of air is distributed via a central duct, which is preferably outside the contact surface, among smaller end-closed ducts. The supplied air can be purified by placing a filter at the entrance of the air. The smaller ducts are provided with perforations (b) at certain places, depending on the necessity of influencing the temperature at that place and the distance still to be traveled from the air. It is thus the case that the perforations from the center of the place where the influence of temperature or the ventilation is necessary, will decrease in number or in total area per cm2 towards the removal of this center. Here one also has to take into account the distance to be traveled and the difficulty of the distance to be traveled by air.
The perforations (openings) (b) are preferably made between the contact surfaces (e) (i.e. between the highest points of the relief), so that the perforations cannot be closed when loading the system. Also, the perforations are preferably placed in such a way that the outflowing air blows directly on the person's body.
* A constant supply of air creates an overpressure in the air ducts closed at the end. The perforations in this create a flow of air in the spaces between the contact surfaces on the channels.
This flow of air cools down when cold air is introduced and warms up when warm air is introduced. The air humidity is also affected. In other words, a temperature and humidity are obtained depending on the air you inject.
* The air ducts are preferably placed in such a way that the pressure force, caused by the body that loads the system, is the same everywhere. In other words, the compressive force per unit area of the system must be the same everywhere. The total contact area per unit area of the system must be directly proportional to the magnitude of the compressive force on that unit area. The placement or relief of the channels must therefore ensure that the contact surfaces are evenly distributed over the system, taking into account the above conditions.
The contact area, which is a total of many small
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
contact surfaces, in turn, must be as large and as small as possible so that the surface to be cooled or heated does not adversely affect this and a comfortable sitting or lying position remains possible. The perforated ducts are preferably constructed in such a way that the individual contact surfaces are as small as possible and the space between them allows the best possible guidance of the exhaust air. This can be achieved by applying spiral pipes (Fig: 4) or by applying a regular or irregular relief (Fig: 4, 1 and Fig: 4, 2) to the perforated air pipes.
This shape of the pipes creates additional connection channels between the discharge areas and a better homogeneous distribution of the load capacity on the appliance. Always make sure that these small contact surfaces are always smooth on their own so that they cannot cause damage to the body or any garment. The channels are also equipped with a system that ensures that the distance between the channels remains more or less the same and that the mobility of the system is maintained. They are held in place by an intermediate piece (Fif: 6) or even mounted on a flexible mat or belts.
* The material of the perforated pipes (Fig: 4 and c) is also preferably made of a fairly flexible material so that the device can easily take the shape of the even very often deformable contact surface. However, they must still have sufficient strength, since there must be no sealing due to deformation of the channels when these channels are loaded. Due to the low flexibility of the pipes, which allows a small deformation under load, the contact surface can be increased with a heavier load on the system. This makes the compressive force per square centimeter of contact area directly proportional to the size of the contact area.
* By controlling the flow rate of the air supply, a ventilation system is created with a controlled temperature and humidity. This can be done by means of a tap, by the electrically controlled speed of a fan or by air controlled by temperature and humidity.
* It is therefore because of its shape and construction that it becomes possible to obtain a constant flow of air, be it forced or not, directly on the body and between the body and the surface of the object (seat or bed) in question. The airflow always remains possible, and is nowhere prevented by closing the channels or the pores. Also, no more centers should be used.
* Due to this controlled and forced air flow, a constant air flow is obtained and thus an overheating, hypothermia and perspiration problem is solved.
* The central distribution channel can be equipped with a system that regulates the control of the air. (fig: 3, 1) By inserting a tube into a tube.
The inner tube is provided with openings (f) (supply of the small channels) in a row in different positions. By rotating the inner tube, the openings made in this tube control the air flowing in the corresponding air channels. Where there are no openings, these channels are closed and there is therefore no passage of air. Where an opening corresponds to an air channel, an air flow is created in this channel. As a result, the air flow can be concentrated to a specific location by a constant supply of air. For example, in a chair, only air can be sent to the seat, only to the back or to
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a specific place.
Because other places are closed off, the flow of air and its effect are greater around the pores of the open channels.
* The many small contact surfaces create a massage effect because the body is always moving and the contact surfaces of the body are moved slightly. Also, due to the movement of the body, the pressure on the body is alternately heavier and less heavily loaded through each contact surface, which also promotes the massage effect.
Variants: 1 * The air ducts are replaced by a succession of small chambers (Fig: 5) that can move through their construction and yet allow air to flow through. Since they can move among themselves, they always allow the shape of the loaded object to be assumed. Due to their shape, they can provide small contact areas, a good distribution of the flow of air and the cremation of air spaces.
For example, a conical shape (Fig: 6) or a cohesion of more or less conical shapes is recommended. The smallest area is the contact area with the body and the largest with the object (possibly seat). In this way, the load on the object is well distributed and the wear of the seat is minimized. The air chambers can take all forms {eg. Walt Disney figures or possibly also car decals (Fig: 7)}.
Even without an air supply, this ventilation system continues to function as a ventilation system and a massage effect.
2 * The air ducts can be a large duct with the necessary relief, to allow the air circulation at all times, and where the openings are located between the reliefs (in the lowest areas).
3 * The shape (with its principles and dexterity) of the system is maintained, but no supply of air is provided and the channels do not have to be channels.
5- Advantages that the invention brings.
Due to its construction and special shape, air circulation is always made possible between a body and an object, which forces this body to maintain constant contact. Due to the load-bearing capacity and the distribution of the many contact surfaces, the body is not adversely affected by the stressful contact with the body. Due to its construction and flexibility, the properties (resilience, flexibility) of the object (seat, bed and so on) are practically unaffected. Due to its compact form and simplicity, it is possible to move this system easily.
In short, the many disadvantages caused by a forced constant contact with an object can easily be remedied by this system.
