EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

EMI1.1
DEVICE INCLUDING CM ELEMENT BNROOL & BLE MOBILE BETWEEN TWO EXTREME POSITIONS FOR AT LEAST ONE DESQUEEXM A LIMIT SWITCH FROVOQOE STOPPING AN ENGINE, ADX STORES APPLICATION
The present invention relates to a device comprising a movable windable element to be moved between two extreme positions, positions in which an electric drive motor must be automatically stopped.
The invention is particularly applicable to sun protection elements such as Venetian blinds / pleated blinds, banners and the like, but more generally, to all devices having at least one element which is itself wound on a drum or which is associated with auxiliary elements: cables, cords, - straps, etc.
Currently, such devices include travel-stop mechanisms which open the electric motor supply circuit when the movable element reaches each of the two extreme positions, which means that at the time of assembly, adjustments must be made which depend on the distance between the two extreme positions.
It is therefore not possible to obtain an automatic shutdown of the motor regardless of this distance, which in the field of blinds and closings means that the adjustment of each installation depends on the height of the blind or on the closure.
In fact, the end-of-travel systems generally include a mechanism which counts the number of revolutions of the output shaft of the motor, which number obviously depends on the travel which the movable element has to cover.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This kind of mechanism has micro contacts which are actuated by a nut (or "walkman") movably engaged on a threaded rod whose length depends
EMI2.1
the distance between the two extreme positions, the nut positions having to be adjusted on site, device by device.
We see that with known devices, we affect an analogy between the number of revolutions of a rotary element (motor, output shaft, drum, etc.) and the linear distance traveled by an element and we deduce this distance from the rotation.
However, the relationship which exists between the rotary element and the mobile element is not constant since 1 alla varies in time according to various factors: the cords relax, the fabric is humidified, the humidity of the site play textiles and mechanical parts differently, etc.
To situate the State of Tectnics, we can cite - Document US-A-4. 4S2. 292 which relates to a door control having not a limit switch but a security system preventing damage to the motor when it is started to operate when the door is blocked (open or closed). according to this document, an anomaly in the electrical supply of the motor is detected and then the electrical circuit is completely opened for a predetermined time, then the circuit is closed to restore the supply and: - if the anomaly has disappeared, the movement door resumes, - if the anomaly is still present, the cycle starts again: circuit opening, time delay, circuit closing, etc.
In other terms, the motor is supplied "in dotted lines", that is to say alternately supplied and isolated as long as the anomaly is present.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
- Document DE-A-4 305 444 which describes a blind necessarily having a link (such as a cord) because it must carry a stop (24). The system includes an overload switch which is not described and whose intervention process is unknown: it is not known how or when the motor can be started again.
- The document DE-A-3 933 266 describes a device which measures the value of the motor supply current and which performs a. comparison between this measured value and a set value.
In the event of a notable difference between these two values, the device automatically causes the temporary starting of the motor in the opposite direction of rotation from that initially chosen, then reverses the movement to restore the initial direction of rotation.
Unlike known devices, the invention
EMI3.1
provides for the engine to be stopped as long as the user does not act on the power control.
The invention provides neither time delay, nor reversal of the direction of rotation nor, a fortiori, automatic restarting of the engine.
In addition, the device of the invention does not have any measurement or comparison instrument but interrupts the operation of the engine until voluntary action by the user.
The object: of the present invention is therefore to overcome the drawbacks of known devices, although the rotation of one or more elements is always preserved.
This makes it possible to simplify both the composition and the manufacture of these devices, by eliminating the complex end-of-travel systems, and the mounting of the devices by simplifying or even eliminating the adjustments on site.
To this end, the invention relates to a device comprising on the one hand a windable element placed on a rotary shaft and having to be moved between
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
two extreme winding and unwinding positions by means of a motor with two rotary saris kinematically connected to the rotary shaft and associated with an electrical supply circuit provided with two separate controls for starting the motor either in one direction or in the opposite , and on the other hand at least one end of stroke die assembly intended to stop the engine previously started, when the element has reached at least one of said extreme positions, characterized in that the device has at least a fixed part (2) against which the movable element (1)
naturally comes into abutment when it reaches one of the extreme positions and which prevents this movable element (1) from exceeding said extreme position, and in that on the motor supply circuit (13) is interposed a member (50 ) likely: * to act on the alinMtntation. of the motor (13) to remove it, or at least significantly reduce it, when said motor (13) is locked in.
consequence of the position in abutment of the mobile element (1) against this / these fixed parts (2) and without time limit, as long as said motor (13) remains blocked, * to neutralize the effects of that of the two controls ( 21 and 22) which corresponds to starting the motor (13) in the direction corresponding to. the abutment bearing of the mobile element (1) against the fixed part (s) (2), without time limit, as long as said mobile element (1) is in abutment against this / these fixed part (s) (2), * to leave available these two controls (21 and 22) which corresponds to the starting of the motor (13) in the direction corresponding to the distance of the movable element (1) relative to said / said fixed parts ( 2),
According to other characteristics of the invention: the member (50) capable of acting on the supply of the motor (13) comprises an element sensitive to the temperature of said motor (13);
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
EMI5.1
- The member (50) comprises a thermistor whose va¯leujr cl = ic resistance value is variable depending on the temperature at which elect is carried by the current flowing through it; the member (50) capable of acting on the power supply of the motor (13) comprises an element sensitive to the value of the electric current which flows through said motor (13); - The member (50) capable of acting on the naked motor supply (13) comprises an element sensitive to the electric voltage considered at the terminals (44 and 45) of said motor (13);

The invention will be better understood from the detailed description below made with reference to the accompanying drawing. Of course, the description and the drawing are given only by way of an indicative and nonlimiting example.
Figure l is a schematic view of a pleated blind according to the invention, in the fully deployed position.
Figure 2 is a schematic view of the blind of Figure 1, in the fully folded position.

Figure 4 is an electrical diagram of the motor supply which equips the awning of Figures l and 2, in the neutral situation corresponding to the shutdown of the motor (by lack of power), regardless of the position of the blind.

<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Referring to the drawing, we see that to illustrate the invention we have chosen the example of a blind.
This blind is, here, of the type comprising an apron i pleated in accordion, fixed at its upper part to. a horizontal profile 2 and at its lower part a load bar 3.
Three cords 4, and 6 are fixed to winding drums 8, 9 and 10 wedged on a common horizontal shaft it placed longitudinally in the profile 2 and connected to the output shaft 12 of an electric motor 13 also housed in profile 2.
The cords 4, 5 and 6 pass through the deck 1 by the sides formed between them by the horizontal folds, and are fixed to the load bar 3.
When the motor 13 is started in one direction, it drives the shaft there in rotation and the drums 8, 9 and 10 which are wedged on this shaft there, thus releasing the cords 4,5 and 6 wound and allowing the blind deploy thanks to the weight of the load bar 3. The awning
EMI6.1
thus passes from the position of FIG. 2 to that of FIG. 1.
When the motor 13 is started in the opposite direction to the previous one, it drives the shaft there in rotation and the drums 8, 9 and 10 which are wedged on this shaft there, thus forcing the cords 4, 5 and 6 to s '' wind on the drums 8, 9 and 10, which exerts a traction on the load bar 3, which going up parallel to
EMI6.2
itself, from the position of Figure 1 to that of Figure 2, forces the deck 1 to fold, the folds lying on top of each other.
To obtain these two opposite displacements between the extreme position of FIG. 1 and the extreme position of FIG. 2, one acts selectively on one or the other of two buttons 21 and 22 of a box 20 connected to a source. of electrical energy S and to the motor 13.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The housing 20 contains a rectifier transformer 23 which receives alternating current 220 Volts from a standard source S and provides a low voltage direct current (for example 12 Volts) at two terminals 24 and 25 to which are connected two pivoting contactors 26 and 27 centered on terminals 24 and 25, facing three studs in an arc, 31-33-35 and 32-34-36 respectively.
In FIG. 3, the circuit of the housing 20 is in the situation corresponding to the position shown in FIG. 1.
The user acted on the button 21 marked with a sign indicating that it triggers the deployment down of the apron 1. in doing so, the contactors 26 and 27 have
EMI7.1
places respectively on the pads 36 and 35, so that the current from the transformer-rectifier 23 flows through the supply wires 4l and 42 of the motor 13, a bypass 43 joining the pad 36 to the wire 41. The polarity - is applied to terminal 44 and polarity-at terminal
45 of the motor 13, which rotates in the senestrogyrous direction and - releases the cords 4, 5 and 6, the load bar 3 driving, by its weight, the bulkhead! which unfolds.
When this deployment is complete, the deck 1 has reached its extreme low position and the engine 13 is stopped by means which will be described later.
As long as one acts on any of the buttons 21 and 22, the motor 13 is powered and rotates in the desired direction, except when the deck 1 reaches one of its two extreme positions.
EMI7.2
As soon as the button 21 or 22 is released, the contactors 26 and 27 are automatically returned to a middle position (by any means known to those skilled in the art), in contact with the neutral studs 33 and 34, as shown in figure 4.
In FIG. 5, the circuit of the housing 20 is in the situation corresponding to the position shown in FIG. 2.

The user acted on the button 22 marked with a sign indicating that it triggers the folding up of the apron 1.
In doing so, the contactors 26 and 27 are placed respectively on the pads 32 and 31, so that the current coming from the transformer-rectifier 23 flows through the supply wires 41 and 42 of the motor 13, the + polarity being applied to the terminal 45 and the polarity - at terminal 44 of the motor 13, which, from: 81 t of the reverse polarity, turns in the dextrorotatory direction and drives the drums 8, 9 and 10 on which the cords 4 are wound, 5 and 6 quj. ReJnontent, by traction, the load bar 3 driving the deck l which folds.
When this folding is complete, as shown in Figure 2, the apron 1 has reached its extreme high position ec abuts, because the folds of the apron 1 can not be compressed more than they are and can not exceed the upper fixed parts (profile 2, shaft 11, drums $ -9-10).
The motor 13, still running, undergoes a very large load and calls for a higher than normal intensity, so that its temperature increases very appreciably.
To avoid this overheating and automatically cause the engine 13 to stop, a member 50 sensitive to any of the significant parameters of the engine blocking state 13, such as a thermostat, is inserted on the wire 41.
Here, we have chosen a thermistor sensitive to the increase in the supply current of the motor 13: when this motor 13 operates normally, the temperature of this thermistor is low because it is crossed by a moderate current, the ohmic resistance of the organ 50 a

a low value, the supply current flows freely through the motor 13.
When this motor 13 is blocked, its temperature rises and the current flowing through it increases 1 The ohmic resistance of the member 50 takes a very

high and thus opposed the passage of the supply current, which causes the engine 13 to stop, which returns to the standby position, its temperature falling very quickly.
EMI9.1
The thermis'cance has a non-zero thermal resistance when the motor 13 is operating normally and quickly takes a very high thermal resistance when the motor is blocked.
This means that the supply circuit is never completely open. With a different member, such as a bimetal switch, the circuit is actually open.
In other words, according to the type of organ which one chooses, this one makes inoperative the current which traverses the circuit either because it clearly decreases, or that it is completely suppressed.
When the user stops acting on the button 22, the contactors 26 and 27 automatically return to their neutral position in FIG. 4, in contact with the studs 33 and 34. the chemical resistance of the member 50 resumes

correlatively, its very low normal operating value, the assembly then being in its normal waiting situation.
Button 22 is neutralized because an involuntary action on it has no effect, since as soon as power is restored, it causes entry into

action of the member 50, the motor 13 still being blocked.
The only practical maneuver is to act on the button 21 which will cause the apron to descend 1. it can be seen that, according to the invention, the stopping of the motor 13, in the extreme high position (FIG. 2), does not result from the presence of a limit switch mechanism but deliberate blocking of the motor 13, the latter being protected against the drawbacks of such a blocking.
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
In the extreme low position (FIG. 1), various solutions exist if it is worth provoking a voluntary wedging of the axis it or of the axis 12 when the deck 1 reaches this extreme low position.
We can, for example, place a player on a threaded rod driven by the motor 13, a fixed stop being placed on the path of the player at the place it reaches when the deck 1 is fully deployed.
When the player reaches the stop, the latter blocks the threaded rod, and therefore the shaft which drives it, which is equivalent to the blocking described above.
EMI10.1
The consequence is the increase in the current flowing through the motor 13, and therefore the rise in its temperature, the entry into function of the organa 50 and the elimination, or the sharp decrease, of the electric supply of the motor 1 3.
We know that the electric motors of the type to which we allude here are, in fact, geared motors, that is to say that they include a reducer formed by a set of pinions suitably sized to give the shaft output a number of revolutions lower than that at which the motor rotor turns.
One of these pinions is operated by engaging it, directly or indirectly, with a nonen pinion whose toothing is such that the "driving" pinion of the reducer is blocked after a certain number of turns, because the toothing of the the driven pinion is no longer coordinated with the teeth of the driving pinion, which is obtained by giving the teeth in the presence of a prime number of teeth. as before, this creates a blockage of the motor 13 and the automatic interruption of its electrical supply by intervention of the sensitive member SO.
It follows from the above description that
EMI10.2
11 stop in the high up position is obtained automatically; whatever the height of the blind, by
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
the only fact that the apron 1 naturally abuts against the fixed parts placed in the upper part of the blind.
For stopping in the extreme low position, a different adjustment must be made than that which is generally used, that is to say that the gearmotor is assembled in the stalling position when the tabliar
1 is fully deployed, which corresponds to its extreme low position.
Thus, whatever the height of the blind, the stop in the low position is obtained automatically whatever the level of the discharge bar, although the gear motor is always the same and is of the non-adjustable type.
In FIG. 1, the level of the load bar 3 has been marked N1 for a first height of the element l and by N2 a lower level corresponding to a longer element 1.
It follows from the above description that the invention makes it possible to considerably simplify the manufacture and adjustment of devices having a movable element (here the apron 1) at the end of automatic strokes, since it is possible to have standard supplies for different distances between extreme positions.
It is noted, in fact, that the member 50 is not a safety device added for travel purposes but the control member itself which stops the motor when the latter has brought the movable element into abutment .
This stopping of the engine is consecutive to the situation of the windable element and no longer a function of a certain number of revolutions.
The applications of the invention are numerous, in particular for relatively light structures such as closing and sun protection elements for the building.
